The U.S. Supreme Court has delivered a heavy blow to a major left-wing environmental group. In the 7-2 ruling, the justices sided with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, thwarting the Sierra Club’s bid to obtain documents concerning a regulation finalized in 2014 relating to power plants.“The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requires that federal agencies make records available to the public upon
request unless those records fall within one of nine exemptions. Exemption 5 incorporates the privileges available to
Government agencies in civil litigation, such as the deliberative process privilege, attorney-client privilege, and attorney work-product privilege,” Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett wrote.

It's always good when the hideous commies at the Sierra Club get defeated in court.
Decades ago, when the Sierra Club was about publishing trail maps, and hiking guides, and volunteering for trail maintenance, I was a member. Once they went over to the Dark Side, I left and they have headed ever farther to the left, becoming an insane Leftist Luddite group who fights against everything good and right.

#2, you are probably thinking of Greenpeace.
The Sierra Club founder was John Muir, in the 1890s, a preservationist who believed in parks for everyone, and building hiking trails to these beautiful places so people could enjoy them. The Sierra Club was a really good hiking club when I joined in the early 70s. Things changed, literally radically, soon thereafter.
Greenpeace was founded in the 1970s by a group of around 8-10 people who were lobbying for some pretty sensible and pretty attainable environmental goals. Within around 10 years, ALL the original goals of Greenpeace had been accomplished....and the founders sort of wandered away to do other things leaving the organization alive, but somewhat dormant for a short period, but then it was taken over by professional leftists. One of the founders seriously regrets that they didn't shut down the organization, but just let it be taken over by crazies.
I understand how this happens. I was one of the founders of a grassroots Kansas gun rights organization. We worked very hard for about 15 years and managed to help all the laws protecting and advancing gun rights in the state that we had set as goals. So, after succeeding, we just sort of let the organization go dormant, and stopped publishing our newsletter, which had gone out monthly to 7,000 people, and let the web site go. FORTUNATELY, no antigun group managed to work in and take it over. But grassroots organizations often have a fairly short life, especially if they accomplish their goals.

If Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito both voted for it - - then it's a good decision.

SC delivers verdict on some document requests made years ago. I am glad the SC got to this, but wonder why they could not get to a really big issue. That being a coup against the POTUS. That would have seemed to warrant their attention.

Well it's nice to know the Supreme Court is doing something. I was under the impression that the Supreme Court was on vacation for the last six months.
