Over the course of recent decades our country has endured an assault on its institutions, its traditions, and its good and decent people. This relentless assault has driven the country into a grave crisis (snip) We have now entered into a new crisis, a Seventh Crisis, which will set the stage for the future by forcing Millennials to make the consequential choices affecting the fate of the American Republic for good or ill. With the 9/11 terror attacks, the ’08 financial meltdown and COVID-19, America shifted into Crisis mode.

I quickly scanned the article and saved it to read very carefully later. It presents a scholarly analysis of where our civilization now sits in this moment and in the larger context of cyclical patterns over time. Excellent, and I thank OP for posting it.

I agree, #1. And his conclusion is spot-on but I'm afraid the last two generations are too far gone to prevent the Long Dark.

An excellent read. Unfortunately, hoping that millennials and Gen Z will awaken to the horror show is wishful thinking. They’re too busy looking at their I phones trying to find something to bully someone else about.

A cogent description of the symptoms which doesn't give much hope for a path to rectification. But against the backdrop of the End Times, that is about all one can do. Search your souls, everyone.

Not in agreement on the characterization of the 80s. Author ignores the role of pursuing Microsoft with anti-trust charges in the 90's (as penalty for not paying tribute to the Clintons), and the resulting, unholy alliance between the Chamber of Commerce, Big Tech, and the Progressive Movement that now runs our Country. The only solution to our current dilemma is to return the federal government to the scale envisioned by our Constitution. Take the federal government out of most day-to-day life, and nobody would have any interest in it. They now seek control of government because it provides a shortcut to implementing dumb ideas rejected by the free market.

I share other posters concern that Millennials may not be up to handling the Crisis cycle. Yet, I have hope for them based on the history of the Greatest Generation of my parents. My grandparents were born during the turn-of-the-century Awakening in response to the High of 19th century industrialization. My father and mother were born in the teens and 1920's and came of age during the Unraveling. They met the challenges of starting their adult lives with the Crisis of WWII. Based upon the author's timeline, the Millennials are closest in generational experiences to the Greatest Generation. In the late 1930's Hitler believed America was a declining nation filled with listless people having no purpose. Not much different than we oldsters view the Millennials. Pray and have hope. God is at work in the world.

I am not optimistic for a positive outcome. With the rapid acceleration of the decline, I think I may see the day of the demise of the USA.

Joe Biden has never been known for subtlety. Fox News reports: President Biden has picked the wife of an extremely influential U.S. senator for a federal commission post, the White House announced Friday. Karma is coming calling for the disgraceful teachers’ unions that have kept children from attending school for a year in much of the country. Successfully shaking down the federal government for 9 figures’ worth of additional funding, they have ignored the science that says young children are at almost no risk from Covid. The cost to children and to the nation is unfathomable, with child suicides soaring, and the future ability to function in a complex technological society impaired for a generation of future citizens. From the very first moment of Biden’s first press conference, one could tell that the days of Trump press conferences were gone. You remember those days, don’t you? Gotcha questions, lectures, fights, interruptions, blatant disrespect – not from Trump, but from the media. It was they who created a sense of chaos and divisiveness, not Trump. It was very different this time. The media were on their best behavior but even they couldn’t protect Biden from himself. Other posts here address more substantive issues raised in the press conference. This is just about style points for both Biden and the media.

President Biden lost his train of thought a couple of times, but didn’t melt down in any significant way in his first presidential press conference.
