The nation’s very first “vaccine passport” is coming to the Big Apple.
The program, dubbed the “Excelsior Pass,” is an app that will allow New Yorkers to prove their vaccination status, or recent history of a negative COVID-19 test, in order to gain entry to events and businesses, Governor Cuomo announced in a news release Friday. “Similar to a mobile airline boarding pass, individuals will be able to either print out their pass or store it on their smartphones using the Excelsior Pass Wallet app,” the news release explains. “Each Pass will have a secure QR code, which participating businesses and venues

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) was chosen to receive the 2021 John F. Kennedy Presidential Library’s Profile in Courage Award for having been the only Republican to vote in favor of convicting former President Donald Trump during his first impeachment trial.“The 2021 Profile in Courage Award goes to Senator Mitt Romney for his vote to convict President Donald J. Trump in 2020, and his consistent and courageous defense of democracy,” the JFK Library said. “As the first Senator to have ever voted to convict a President of his own party, Senator Romney’s courageous stand was historic.

Images taken during President Joe Biden's first press conference on Thursday showed him using cheat sheets. The 78-year-old Democrat is seen holding one sheet that showed the headshots of journalists at the press conference that he planned to call on.
'The United States now ranks 13th globally in infrastructure quality, down from 5th place in 2002,' one bullet point reads. Despite having the cheat cards, Biden was forced to correct himself after mistakenly saying the US ranked 85th in the world in infrastructure, according to the New York Post.

President Joe Biden lashed out at the Georgia election integrity measures signed into law by the state’s governor Brian Kemp on Thursday.(Video) “Do you have a comment on the new Georgia election law, Mr. President?” a reporter asked.“Say again?” Biden asked.“The new Georgia election law?” the reporter asked again.“It’s an atrocity,” Biden responded. “The idea — if you want any indication that it has nothing to do with fairness, nothing to do with decency, they passed a law saying you can’t provide water for people standing in line while they’re waiting to vote.

President Biden has picked the wife of an extremely influential U.S. senator for a federal commission post, the White House announced Friday.
Biden nominated Gayle Conelly Manchin to co-chair the Appalachian Regional Commission, an economic development partnership with 13 states designed to boost investment in the Appalachian Region.
Manchin is an educator, past president of West Virginia's State Board of Education and the former first lady of West Virginia. She's been married for 53 years to Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., a critical vote in the Senate for Biden if he wants to get any of his major legislative priorities passed.

Tony Clark, the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) executive director, says that he wants the league to discuss pulling the All-Star Game from Georgia now that the state’s election integrity bill has become law.
The 91st MLB All-Star is scheduled for July 13 at SunTrust Park in Atlanta, Georgia. Though, with the new election law enacted, Clark thinks it is time to discuss possibly punishing the Peach State.
“Players are very much aware” of the Georgia voting bill, Clark told the Boston Globe.

A vehicle mileage tax could be on the table in talks about how to finance the White House’s expected multi-trillion-dollar infrastructure proposal, according to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. Buttigieg, who spoke with CNBC’s Kayla Tausche on Friday, also contended that President Joe Biden’s forthcoming plans to rebuild the nation’s roads, bridges and waterways would lead to a net gain for the U.S. taxpayer and not a net outlay. “When you think about infrastructure, it’s a classic example of the kind of investment that has a return on that investment,” he said.(Snip) “I’m hearing a lot of appetite to make sure

Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins toured the U.S.-Mexico border overnight with a delegation led by Texas Republican Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn. The trip continues through Mission, Texas today with a boat tour, but they've already seen the crisis first hand.

Mexican cartels control who crosses the border. A young mother from Guatemala, sitting on an aluminum blanket with her 1-year-old, told me she paid smugglers $6,000.

A Southwest Airlines pilot’s recorded rant about Bay Area residents quickly went viral online this week, with the pilot at one point calling those who live in San Francisco “goddamn liberal f---s.”
A Southwest spokesman confirmed to The Hill Thursday night that the audio was captured on one of the company's flights and that the pilot worked for Southwest.
The spokesman added that the company was "fully addressing the situation internally."
The remarks, which were picked up over the Mineta San Jose International Airport’s air traffic control scanner, occurred on a March 12 flight and were posted on Live ATC,

Major corporations quickly came out with announcements of pausing donations to Republican lawmakers who voted against certifying Joe Biden’s election victory in January. Specifically, the closing of the corporate coffers was a reaction to the Capitol Hill riot on January 6. Now there is a House race in Iowa which Democrats are trying to steal from the Republican who has been certified by state officials as the winner. Senate Republicans, including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, now demand that turnabout is fair play. If the corporations making a statement against overturning the results of an election are sincere, it should not be a problem

Duke University has launched an investigation after a printout of George Floyd's toxicology report was pinned to a Black History Month display.
The flier, which insinuated that Floyd died of a drug overdose, appeared next to a photo of him Saturday on a bulletin board on the third floor of a dormitory. Each compound in his system was underlined with pink pen and, at the top, was written: 'Mix of drugs presents in difficulty breathing! Overdose? Good Man? Use of fake currency is a felony!'(Snip)'I was honestly terrified. I remember shaking in that moment,' Manns told CNN. 'That happened right down the hall

It has been more than two months since Kamala Harris was sworn in as vice president of the United States, a historic moment for the country, as Harris is the first woman and the first woman of color to hold the second highest office in the land. Yet, Harris -- along with her husband, Georgetown Law professor Douglas Emhoff -- is still, ostensibly, living out of suitcases, unable to move into the private residence reserved for the vice president because it's still undergoing renovations. It's unclear why the renovations are taking so long, said one administration official, but it's a situation that
