During this week’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Sunday Show,” Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) acknowledged the Biden border plan, which has led to what some are describing as a crisis, much to be desired.
She said, however, there was a plan in place the Biden administration had shared with members of Congress.
“[N]ow Jonathan, we have a situation that is a humanitarian concern,” she said. “We do have issues with any number of children. The numbers are coming up, but I will say that the Biden administration has met with members of Congress. They have a plan. The plan does not look like it’s working

On Sunday, after Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas repeatedly claimed that President Donald Trump left a mess for Joe Biden to clean up, even though the opposite is the case. Trump responded to these claims with a blistering statement.
“We proudly handed the Biden Administration the most secure border in history. All they had to do was keep this smooth-running system on autopilot. Instead, in the span of a just few weeks, the Biden Administration has turned a national triumph into a national disaster. President Biden, along with leading Democrats on Capitol Hill, started the year with the choice between two paths to govern. The first route, which I have strongly urged my party to take, is characterized with bipartisanship. Democrats carry this incredible opportunity to consolidate their power by reaching out to moderate Republicans to achieve legislative compromises at a time when Republicans are deeply fractured. This route would lead to further friction, however, with the growing progressive wing. It is clear that Biden and Democrats have chosen the second route, which involves embracing liberal policies and using their power to push through

On Sunday, March 21, the 60-day pause in construction of the border wall is scheduled to end.
According to the source, the expenditures are required for materials orders placed before the pause and expenses for the cost of equipment sitting idle. When the issuance of a stop work order causes a contractor to idle equipment, they are entitled to be compensated for rental expenses or costs of ownership.

If President Biden makes good on a recent White House promise that he'll field questions from a roomful of reporters for the first time this coming Thursday, he will be doing so on his 65th day since taking office.
Saturday marked the 60th consecutive day the nation’s 46th president did not do a news conference with the White House press corps.
That stretch has been marked by several near-misses of interactions with the media:
On March 3, for example, Biden appeared ready to handle some questions from reporters during a virtual news conference with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, but the video feed of the event suddenly cut off.

In the case of Tah v. Global Witness Publishing, Inc., which emerged from the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, nobody but the parties involved cared about the issues in the case. It became noteworthy, though, because Judge Laurence Silberman used the dissent, not just to disagree with the majority’s ruling, but also to warn against the danger of a national media that is completely allied with the party controlling all of Washington D.C. However, I find the case even more exciting because it attacks the notion of Supreme Court infallibility.

[Snip] If China controls North Korea, specifically the functional leadership within the military, then all military action is essentially not from North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un, but rather controlled and positioned by Chairman Xi. [Snip] message that North Korea is an independent nation, without China controlling it. How is Kim Jong-un expected to react to a new U.S. outlook that doesn’t reflect the reality? He can’t.

A McKinney man accused of storming the U.S. Capitol was given away by his mobile phone, which placed him at the scene, giving agents clues they needed to identify and arrest him, federal court records show.
Kevin Sam Blakely, 55, was captured in video footage standing inside and outside of the Capitol building during the Jan. 6 uprising and riot, according to an FBI complaint.
Google location data has helped the FBI make numerous arrests of other alleged rioters across the country.

When Ronald Reagan stepped out of the Washington, DC, Hilton on March 30, 1981, he still carried himself like the Hollywood star he once was: A big grin stretched across his face as he raised his hand high and waved to the crowd of journalists corralled behind a rope-like barrier. The new president had just finished speaking before AFL-CIO leaders, but the press was hoping to get a quote about rising tensions with Russia before Reagan stepped into his bulletproof limousine.Among the ranks was Associated Press reporter Michael Putzel. “I took a position near the right rear wheel of the limo,”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has called the border crisis a 'humanitarian disaster' as COVID cases surge among teens held in a hastily constructed federal holding facility for child migrants with no drinkable water. The detention center in Midland County, currently holding more than 400 youths, was opened on Sunday after federal officials converted a 'man camp' for oilfield workers to help handle a massive surge in illegal border crossings, including many unaccompanied minors. More than 10 percent of the camp's population has tested positive for COVID-19 and at least one child had to be hospitalized. And on Friday, Texas officials issued a dire warning that well water used

As metaphors go, it will be hard to top President Biden falling up the steps of Air Force One. He went down not once, not twice, but three times before scrambling to his feet. That was bad enough, but a silly White House excuse made it worse. Wind gusts knocked him over, an aide claimed, apparently with a straight face. The one hopeful sign is that nobody blamed Donald Trump. If that thinking is contagious, there might be hope for the new president after all.Otherwise, there are reasons to fear America is headed off the rails and into the weeds. Up to now, the theme of the Biden administration

Texas lawmakers this week advanced seven pro-life bills out of committee and into the full Senate chamber for hearings. (Tweet/Photo) The Texas Abolition Strategy (SB 1647) is an omnibus measure that includes three separate pro-life provisions: the Heartbeat Act (SB 8), which would ban abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected; the Preborn NonDiscrimination Act (PreNDA) (SB 1173), which would abolish abortions sought due to the sex, ethnicity, or disability of the unborn baby; and the Human Life Protection Act (SB 9), which seeks to abolish all remaining elective abortions in Texas if

Judge Laurence Silberman accused the New York Times and Washington Post of being “Democratic Party broadsheets” in a dissenting opinion on Friday. Washington, DC, federal appellate judge Laurence Silberman accused the New York Times and Washington Post, and to some extent the Wall Street Journal, of being mouthpieces for “rather shocking” bias against the Republican Party in a written opinion on Friday.“The orientation of these three papers is followed by The Associated Press and most large papers across the country (such as the Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, and Boston Globe),” he said in the opinion. “Nearly all television—

On Tuesday, a gunman targeted three massage parlors in the Atlanta area, killing eight people and wounding one more. Police arrested a suspect, 21-year-old Robert Aaron Long, who confessed to the shooting, claiming he had been motivated by a sexual addiction and aimed to remove “temptation.” However, since six of the eight victims were Asian American women, leftist commentators, Democrats, and legacy media outlets rushed to the conclusion that Long’s true motive was anti-Asian hatred tracing back to “white supremacy.” Many noted the rise in anti-Asian harassment during the COVID-19 pandemic. The ultimate verdict remains out, but most of the evidence weighs in

In a video that went viral on social media, former President Donald Trump mocked Joe Biden’s recent fall on the stairs heading up to Air Force One and mentioned the 2020 presidential election in the process.“I watched as Joe Biden went up the stairs today and, I said ‘I didn’t lose to him,’ which we didn’t lose to him,” Trump says in a video originally shared on Tik Tok. “Almost 75 million votes and probably a lot more than that.” (Tweet/Video) It’s only a matter of time before the “fact-checkers” take down this video, which appears to have been taken at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort

San Francisco School Board member Alison Collins is under significant pressure to resign after tweets she posted about Asian Americans back in 2016 were brought to light by a parent group seeking to oust her. As I pointed out yesterday, one of Collins tweets said, “Many Asian Am. believe they benefit from the ‘model minority’ BS…They use white supremacist thinking to assimilate and ‘get ahead.'” Today the San Francisco Chronicle reports on the significant backlash to those statements. School board member Jenny Lam called for Collins to resign from the board.
“I’m shocked, dismayed, personally hurt by the remarks about Asian American students, parents and teachers,”
