AMC Theaters, the nation's largest movie theater chain, says 98% of its theaters will open their doors by Friday.
The company said 99% of its locations will be open by March 26.
By Monday, AMC said they are expecting to open 52 of its 54 California locations.
"The Company is preparing to resume operations at its remaining California AMC locations once the proper local approvals are in place," AMC said in a press release. "AMC will only reopen its theatres once approved to do so by state and local authorities."

I guess it's good that they will be putting people back to work.
But unless Hollyweird actually starts to make some decent movies again, and learns to shut their lie-beral mouths constantly putting down everything I believe in, I won't be visiting any of their theaters!!!

If I'm not there, start without me. I haven't been to a theater in over a decade, and rarely went during the years prior to that when I could get free tickets. The quality of movies is slop, as is the politics of the participants who I will not support financially. Bad remakes, explosions and poor acting are now the norm. No thank you.

Hollywood makes movies primarily for the Asian audience so why bother?

Glad to hear this. But the one closest to me, which was my theater of choice for years (stadium seating, great sound, and big screens) is unfortunately boarded up.

The above's being said, we haven't seen a movie in a theater since Dunkirk.

AMC is owned by the ChiComs. That will keep me away, no matter what they do.

Why go to a movie, when you can watch anything from your lounge chair, and the kitchen steps away?

Who cares? I haven't been to a movies theater for decades. I was renting movies from Redbox, but there hasn't been anything worth watching for months and months. If there was a really good movie coming out and I could only watch it in a theater, I would only go if I could bring my own popcorn.

Nice gesture but don't be surprised if your small audiences consist of a few bored kids who were dropped off so their parents could have a few hours of peace and quiet. I haven't seen a decent movie since the Harry Potter series and coincidentally, those were not controlled by hollywood.

A number of theaters have been open here in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area for months, and my wife and I have gone to support the local businesses and see films on the big screen. But the only new movie we've seen is "Nomadland" (very good, but very depressing.) Mostly, we've seen revivals of classics like "The Maltese Falcon," "The Birds" and "Lawrence of Arabia." It's sad to go to a theatre on Saturday night and see there are only a couple of dozen people there, but I wonder if it's really because of COVID (restaurants and stores are very crowded here) and not just that all the current movies suck.
