Washington — Eight World War II veterans - the youngest of them age 96 - will join President Trump at a wreath-laying ceremony Friday commemorating the 75th anniversary of the end of the war in Europe. Their hopes to mark the day in Moscow were dashed because of the coronovirus pandemic. White House officials described the veterans as "choosing nation over self" by joining Mr. Trump at the World War II Memorial ceremony."These heroes are living testaments to the American spirit of perseverance and victory, especially in the midst of dark days," said White House spokesman Judd Deere.

Should be safe as long as Trump's valet isn't helping. These vets survived worse.

Hero's...where are these guys today in our children...running around rioting, whining, living in their parent's basements, marching in parades with their BDSM 'clothing', fathering kids and running off...not the kids who stormed the beaches and fought for our freedom...

FTA: "...we presented to them the risk we are facing. They said, 'It doesn't matter...'."
Someone has all this in perspective. Brave men, honest heroes in a time of deep, deadly crisis. They did not shrink from the threat now nor their duty then.
Be responsible. Allow your neighbor to be the same in his own way.

These men must be horrified watching what has become of the country and world they gave so much to defend. President Trump's election must have been a breath of fresh air for them.
I think today it will be President Trump's honor to be surrounded by these men to whom so very much is owed. Unfortunately, our youth are not taught any of it.

Great news. They won one war, I'm sure that this one doesn't scare them at all.

Actually, #6, that isn't correct. I know at least three Marines today who are top notch, and a couple of recently retired US Army folks who are top notch, too.

V-E Day. I was only a toddler when America held on to God, and these living treasures were young men coming home. Churchill said, ''All gave some. Some gave all. Isaiah said ''How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!"

I wish my dad could join in with them. A 25 year Navy man, he enlisted Feb. '41.
He would have been 103 last Thursday. I miss him dearly.

Panther 361, similar thoughts here.
My Dad was USMC staff sergeant, was part of the Kwajalein battle. I have a photo of him sitting on a knocked-out Type 95 Japanese tank. He passed in 1985, and I still miss him.
My (civilian life, 1982-83) flight instructor, Bob Leslie of Gulfport, MS passed away the day before yesterday. He was a B-24 pilot. He was either 101 or 102 years old.
Calm winds and smooth landings, 'Uncle Bob'!
