If you’re a healthcare worker who went to New York to volunteer to help fight the coronavirus outbreak there, Gov. Andrew Cuomo says you owe New York state income taxes.
Even if you were not working for any pay in New York, but you were still being paid in your home state. Pay that enabled you to volunteer and put your own health in danger to help New York.
That’s classic taxation without representation. Americans have a history of not liking this.
Health care workers that came to New York to help fight the coronavirus pandemic at its epicenter will have to pay state taxes, according to the governor.

Come help us so that we can bleed you dry. He's the reason people in the heartland loathe New York policy. Not the place. Not the people. The ridiculous policy and its makers.

This should add to Godfather Cuomo's bonafides when he runs for President. The man is a despicable jerk. NO federal money for Andy and Mayor Frankenstein. They dug their own graves.

Trust me. This is about taxing Samaritan’s Purse volunteers. Yes SP is a 501c3 but wonder if Cuomo’s lawyers are on the lookout for a loophole or way of taxing any Christian groups that have helped out.

would love to know if this guy uses any loop holes in paying his taxes.
Nice way to thank the people who gave up their time at home to help save his state. He is a class act number 1 jerk

as I read this, I had a conversation with myself.
my first question was, how would NYS know the names, addresses, social security numbers of medical volunteers from out of state? Then I answered the question - because NYS probably required the volunteers to obtain temporary licenses to practice in NYS!
Little Andrew is politically tone-deaf. What a damned fool! And he has a 'New York' frame of mind!

I used to say, tHat Andrew's father, Mario the Pious, was the meanest man in America and that the son was the second meanest. Andrew has easily succeeded as the meanest. And just how is he going to collect that money? I haven’t seen an intelligent Democrat in my long memory. They all have that fascist gene.

I lived in Rochester NY years ago. When I went to the NYC office to help, I was required to pay NYC taxes.
The key is this..... does the state and city know that you are there? If they dont, and you dont tell them, they dont know to rake you over the coals for taxes. I avoid NYC like the plague.....oh wait. Now I have a better excuse to not go there.

No one ever mentions Bob Percopo. I wonder why. Andrew Cuomo's right hand man for decades, a man who Mario called "his other son". Yet we never hear from him.....
Because, he is in prison for taking bribes for a power plant....thanks Andrew for a corrupt administration.
Of course the DNC-Media gives him a pass.

As if most of us needed another reason to NOT go to that horribly run, pestilence, plague, and crime ridden city. I feel bad for the conservative folks that live in Upstate though. They know their Gov is a lazy imbecile.

Part II: New York is a tax fanatic. I remember decades ago when their agents used to travel down to the mall in Erie, Pa. around Christmas time and post reminders on cars with New York plates to be sure and declare their sales tax when they returned home. If I recall correctly, Pa. tax was 5% back then and NY was 8%.

Also, if you have visited NY in the past seven years, you are going to be taxed in New York.
Actually, if Cuomo gets the bailout money he wants from the Federal Government, we are all being taxed by New York.

If there is a resurgence of the Chinese Flu in the fall, then NY should be on its own. No one from out of state should lift a finger to help New Yorkers. You reap what you sow.

Another reason not to live in NY. Another reason to never go there. NY is anti-business and anti-work. It wants to be a 'welfare' state. It wants handouts from the federal government. NY wants others to pay for it.

Cuomo is just continuing the family tradition. His father was the same way. Mario the pius never saw a tax he didn't like. Prince Andrew is the same lowlife scum and will never take compasion or be thankful for anything anyone does.

This is like what they do in corrupt Third World countries, where you have to pay off government officials in order to get donated, free materials into the country to give away to needy residents.

NY is such a scam. The entire state is a scam, with Cuomo the head scammer.
Volunteer to help them and they "thank you" by hitting you with their damned high taxes.
Shameless scammers.
I am becoming more and more certain to never again set foot in that state.

Fine, in theory, but unless the volunteers register to pay taxes, NY won't be able to identify them.

When I was stationed in NJ, living on base, car registered in my home state. NJ would send tax packets to everyone on base. Very few actually owed taxes, but the State kept sending letters and threats. Finally the Feds stepped in and shut them down, but not before those who DID file got dinged for the previous years taxes as well, since they filed they had to explain back some years why they didn't. I never forgot that lesson. If it comes from government throw it away..if it's important they will send it again. That swore me off of ever A.Voting for a Democrat, and B.Getting out of Jersey the second I could.

Pardon second post.
Know of a company in NY that does business nationwide. They have separated their NY holdings into another company so NY won't be able to apply their state tax on their business done elsewhere in the nation. That's how nuts the NY state tax is.

I volunteered to work the US Open (golf) to be held in NY State this September (originally 9n June). Doe this mean I have to pay income taaxes for the days I volunteer? Screw that!
