Whenever the threat of a government shutdown looms, Democrats and their media allies give us daily doses of how devastating such a thing will be on 'non-essential' government workers.
Then they go into overdrive when a shutdown actually occurs: Wall-to-wall sob stories giving examples of government workers supposedly harmed even though, everyone knows, those employees will soon be paid. They essentially have a paid vacation.
Now, after weeks of the intentional destruction of the private sector with tens of millions of jobs lost, with businesses and families being devasted and having no idea how they will feed their families and themselves, there are few of those same sob stories,

...and government workers ALWAYS git their pay for the time they didn't work anyway, so the shutdowns were actually ridiculous

President Trump needs to make a decision now. Either open the Federal Government back up or send the government employees to the unemployment line. He can call all Federal Government workers back to work with the liberal leave policy in place. For the employee that chooses not to return, that employee has the option to use their leave. Once the leave is used up then that employees go on leave without pay and after a few weeks without a check, they will return. Federal employees should be NOT given the pleasure of paid leave during any shutdown. They too should be in the unemployment line along with others. Essential employees that must report to work, should be paid.

I got 95% from the headline alone. Yea we get the "go get an essential job" level of sympathy but the thought of our non value added non wealth producing government shutting down is treated like the next meteor strike ending all life as we know it.

That's why Trump should continue his daily briefings ....it's the only voice the republicans have... the dems have abccbsnbccnnmsnbc. One thing for sure we are finding out what essential means...truck drivers, food stores, supply stores....non essential.. congress & media,

I remember the endless play a sieigh ride employee got at a national park during one government shutdown. The media made it seem like the world economy would stop if he didn't get back to work immediately. Too bad they don't give the same amount of attention to line workers at factories or small businesses.

The scary part is that, while this article makes many good points, none of those points carry any weight with the people who support Democrats. For example, there is no point in bringing up the Planned Parenthood deaths with them because they don't consider an abortion a death.

Government employees, the non-essential ones, which seems to me to be most of them, should not be paid when they are furloughed, and definitely should not get their back pay (?) when they return. The government seems to truck right along, when most of them are sent home. My biggest gripe, though, is why we even have anyone classified as 'non-essential' on the payroll. I'm 77 and I guess definitions change, but I learned, long ago, that non-essential meant the same as 'not needed!' It seems like the government has an awful lot of not needed deadwood on the payrolls. In fact, I'd add NAZI Pelosi and her gang as about 200 plus that we could do without.

No coverage by the media of private employees out of work with no paychecks. The shutdown is ridiculous. It is more dangerous to go into a grocery store, or dollar store, than a clothing store. There are many fast food restaurants that have less contacts, as well. None of this was considered. Just shut it all down, a fool's errand.

They blew up in the lefts [sic] face only in the alternative media, #1. Reports in American Thinker, Breitbart, American Spectator, or other sites familiar to us on Lcom are more like shouts in an echo chamber than world revelations. Most of the 'Progressives' you will meet never even looked at these sources. (Which helps explain how so much of what they 'know' is false.)
