Tuesday marked one month since the stay-at-home order to fight the novel coronavirus went into effect in Illinois. Now, there are indications from both Gov. JB Pritzker and Mayor Lori Lightfoot that the order might be extended. (Snip) The mayor added that she expects the stay-at-home order will go into May, but could extend well into June and even the end of June as well.
The governor did not give any specifics about when he might start to open up the state – whether in stages or otherwise. But he did indicate he might have more to say about that this coming Friday.

Chicago deserves whatever it inflicts on itself -- they're all on the dole, anyway.

OP...deep cuts in government spending?...in Chicago/Cook County/Illinois??? Hahahahahahahahahaha...
I guarantee proposed higher taxes are coming soon...to "protect the people" (i.e., the govt salaries, benefits, and golden pensions).

When I look at the data, which is not easy to find, it looks like the infection rate has already peaked in Illinois. The spike in deaths yesterday indicates a new case peak several weeks ago, because it takes around 21-28 days from infection to death, for those who die. There is a daily percentage increase in cases now around 4-5% versus around 20% on April 1. It has been declining every since. Someone tell me I am wrong in my assumptions.

Chicago needs to fail. I mean in an epic, spectacular manner. It needs to descend into utter, lawless chaos, so it can get straightened out. The Illinois state government can’t do it, because in Illinois, government is the problem. They’ll need to throw out every politician north of I-80.

Mayor LightHead. You are welcome to stay at home until June (2036). In the meantime why don't you think about locking up the South Side Shooters forever so they don't kill any more innocent children. Have a nice year.

What are the weekly murder rates in Chicago? I bet they've plummeted since the lock down-it's hard for a gun to shoot anyone if the hand holding it is quarantined! But then, a couple more weeks of this and it will explode into something like the Purge movies. Major Lightweight better remember what kind of city she is Mayor of!

Can she still go out and get her 'essential' hair cut, wash and set? Or does this edict just apply to the commoners?

152 murders here since Jan 1. That's with a one month lockdown, and more than last year at this time.Herr Lightfoot and Frau Pritzker are two of the most arrogant and at the same time unconfident slimy Illinois politicians I've ever seen. Overpromoted, bitter and in Frau's case this is the first job he's ever had. When those who lack confidence are in charge they always go overboard because that's the only "safe" way to do things. We're doomed.

Mayor Lightfoot is actually mayor Lightbrain. Expect incompetence from the Gov and the mayor. They are fools and have totalitarian fools for advisors.

This is exactly why Trump needs to take the economic bull by the horns and just announce a general reopening. If the states choose to ignore that, that is on them. But Trump needs to make that announcement and let us in the public sector handle the rest.
Chicago a beautiful city??? Not anymore it isn't. Not after Tiny Dancer and now mayor Lightinthehead's era.
