In the interest of full disclosure, I loved the 1970's Charlie's Angels. The show was about three women who were women first rather than political activists sending messages about this or that.
Over the weekend, a new version came out, and it did not do very well, according to early accounts:
"Charlie's Angels" ... wasn't able to entice its core audience of younger females and arrived well behind domestic box office projections (the studio was anticipating a start closer to $13 million). Though co-financing partners will help offset any potential losses for Sony, "Charlie's Angels" will now rely on overseas audiences to help recoup its $48 million production budget.

Can't they come up with any new ideas, rather than copying 1970s TV shows and comic books from the 1950s?

If you read only the last two paragraphs, you will be blessed. You can read the entire article and just try to hold back on the Amen! shouts, but it'll be difficult.

40 years ago it was a rare weekend you couldn’t find a good movie to go see. Now we are talking 3 or 4 years between trips to theater .......

One thing most folks don't realize, especially if they don't follow Hollywood news, is that movies are no longer being made solely for American audiences. They are being made for the all important and massive Asian audience now. Those folks have not seen for the most part most of the movies that they are currently remaking. Hollywood hates us, they do not care if we know it now. Boy are they going to be surprised when China tightens its grip on Hollywood and dictates what they can make to show in Asia. But then the Left has never thought about the ending of that big picture much have they. They truly need to be careful what they wish for, because some things have a tendency to bite really hard.

The left has to ruin everything. When I was younger I loved the Adam West Batman series, so even though I am not a big comic book superhero type, Batman was always my favorite.
So I recently checked out the new Batwoman series on the CW network, just because.
When the pilot episode started out by dissing Batman because he suddenly disappeared, and had the Batwoman character engaging in a lesbian kissy scene within the first 10 minutes, I was quickly done with the series.
At least the producers presented their garbage early on so that I didn't waste much time.

Every year at Christmas time I wait for some war movie, western or something with adult themes and go to the movies. Churchill was the last theater movie I attended. Nothing has come out since that except cartoons, computer generated space wars and general kiddy puff movies with lessons built in to promote gayness, transgender and other crap for indoctrination.
Hollywood is all but dead to me like the NFL.

Re #8,
I have not seen it yet, but right minded friend of mine saw the new Midway movie and really liked it. He recommended seeing it on the big screen.

Midway is the best movie I've seen since American Sniper. It's a tribute to the selfless courage of our men in uniform.

FTA: "We know that Hollywood hates Trump and believes in climate change."
That statement perfectly exemplifies the problem. First it was "anthropogenic global warming." Too much of a mouthful, the term was replaced with "mam-made global warming," and was ultimately shortened to just "global warming." But then, when the data revealed the earth was no longer warming, that term was replaced with "climate change." However, by "climate change" they don't just mean changes in climate.
They mean man-made climate change. There is an assumed adjective that adulterates the argument.
Anyone who doesn't "believe in climate change" is just not paying attention. Of course the climate changes, ice ages, warming period, etc. However, anyone who believes that human activity MAKES it change, or has anything to do with the changes, is a fool and a science denier.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but somebody else had already made a Charlie's Angels movie. Think within the last 10 years. It was too soon for another. Stuff like this only works if there is a new generation that hasn't seen it or if it is a continuation of a previous movie.
Agree about the dearth of ideas coming from Hollywood. Nor does it help if everything is focused on being politically correct.

You can't blame the actors, the writers and all of the low-level technicians and artists that it takes to put a movie together. They have all of the necessary tools and skills to make superb movies if they were asked to. The blame for content all goes to producers, directors and of course the big-money people who control it all. Right now the marching orders to the creative people throughout hollywood is to promote diversity, unrealistic mixed-race interaction, Gaia worship, sexual perversion, freedom and all things Liberal. In their minds it's what Americans should believe in and they can't get it through their heads that we detest the whole world that has been created by the gay, pseudo-intellectual academics, green weenies and leftists that they desire all of us to be. Interestingly they can not omit firearms from their movies although they profess to hate them. Why then is every movie packed full of automatic gunfire? They also want us to ignore their hypocrisy. No thanks, your life does not interest me and neither does your movies.

There was a reason why the Charlie’s Angels TV series was so popular in its day. It’s called the jiggle factor. Men like their women strong, but feminine.

Let Hollywood die.
There are a lot of talented people out there who never get jobs unless they have the right connections and are willing to whore themselves out. That's Hollywood AND Broadway. Let them die a miserable death.

Oh, the suspense!

Corollary to #1:
I have also noticed that a significant number of TV commercials use the classic rock songs from the 60-70's as background when they push their products. Did commercials in the early years of TV use songs from the 1920's? No, they used contemporary tunes or cute original jingles. The commies have so divided our common culture they have to go back 50 years to find popular music that is acceptable to a general audience. The intent of everything the commies have produced in the last half century (rap music) was to destabilize and tear down society, rather than showcase individual originality and talent. Nothing to elevate or embroider the culture was allowed.
I think the Left has so idolized the 1960's that they cannot move on (to coin a phrase). They are caught in a time warp and intent on dragging the rest of us into their delusion where the Flower Children play under the benevolent eye of the Soviet KGB.

Radical left crap on tv
Radical left crap at the movies
Miscreant malcontents and deviants
We were classic
They are crap
They started this culture war!
Would you pay $20 as a couple to see this crap?
HBO is perverted crap just like all the so called “movie channels on tv”
Westerns are the best thing to watch
But they even try to pervert those!
Hollywood motto...”Crap is King”
TV motto...”Crap is King”
The left ruins everything
Ever since world war 2
Make movies great again!

The upcoming 1917 movie looks like it might be good. As for the rest, current movies remind me that there is almost no depth most actors are willing to go to debase themselves. #17 mentioned Baywatch and if you saw the latest remake with Dwayne Johnson you would cringe at some of the lines these 'major' stars uttered. Really foul, unnecessary, filth.
The screenwriters, producers and directors seem determined to dredge the bottom for every dollar they can find and if that means spewing foul language to shock instead of educate, they are fine with that. Absolutely no moral standard left in Hollywood. It is a communist dream of spreading moral rot, anger and numbing to pain and violence to their enemy, America. The saddest thing is we do it to ourselves or allow it to happen. Ironically all the SJW, BLM, and Metoo types are busy finding anyone to the right of weird to harass, when they could set up camp in Hollywood where everyday they make a movie that promotes all the things they whine about.

Many of the classic movies are remakes of either foreign films or remakes of someone's own films.
For example, the 1930's version of The Man Who Knew Too Much is much better than the 1950's version.

I heard that even “The Good Liar”, starring Helen Mirren and Ian McKellen, was not very good. So…I am reading the book and get to cast it visually with them as I read along. Perfect casting, but that wouldn’t keep Hollywood from messing it up...

“Charlie’s Angels” was doomed to fail. Those three originals - Farrah and the others - were just too perfect in their roles.
