Dan Crenshaw challenges entire premise of
Ukraine impeachment efforts

Original Article

Finally! A political figure, rising star Rep. Dan Crenshaw of Texas, has challenged the false premise that there was anything wrong with President Trump asking for Ukrainian help in an investigation of corruption in the 2016 election undertaken by Joe Biden. Just because it would potentially help discredit a potential political opponent is no reason to override the public benefit from investigating corruption. For some reason, no other national politician has bothered making this point. Crenshaw did so yesterday on CNN, and faced intense opposition from CNN’s Chris Cuomo:

As much as I appreciate Dan Crenshaw, I still think he is misguided. Read the transcript. Donald Trump did not ask for help. Yes, he asked for a favor but that was for the Russian collusion and referenced a certain name that I don't remember right now. Zelensky brought up Rudy Guiliani not Donald Trump. " A political figure, rising star Rep. So I don't know if it is Dan Crenshaw twisting the transcript or Thomas Lifson. Someone needs to re-read it.

Another commenter after the original article suggested that Republicans take a copy of the Transcript of the phone call between President Trump and the Ukrainian President and when these nitwits start asking questions just read the darn transcript to them word for word. It would collapse the narrative that the left has put out there and would silence these talking heads. Rep. Crenshaw made an excellent argument nonetheless. I really like this guy. He has a great future if he doesn’t get fed up with the corruption that is all around him. Hopefully, it will spur him on to root it out and continue to honorably serve our country. We need men and women like this young man. He gives me hope.

The question raised by Lifson about generic corruption is a key one. Does contesting a Presidential election (or any other for that matter) shield you from a legitimate investigation or questioning by authorities on all criminal matters? Are you, like 0bama or Hillary, to be treated like Ceaser's Wife?

I suggested long ago that Republicans decline any offer of subscriptions, free or otherwise, to the NY Times, Wash Post and various magazines. Donald Trump came along and said/did same this week. Similarly, they simply must stop acting as Charlie Brown to the Dems and media's Lucy. There is nothing to be gained from appearing on CNN or MSNBC or even Fox in its current incarnation. They may get a few stray conservative viewers but for the most part it's another exercise in ritual defenestration. There is nothing to be gained from off-the-record meetings with media figures and editorial boards - this includes you Mr President. Many of these people harbor bizarre and dangerous revenge fantasies about physical harm coming to you and your family and 63 million voters. They may smile and nod when seated at big table but after the meeting they will resume blackguarding you worse than before. There is far too much kayfabe (pro wrestling fakery) in politics and government already. The media forest must be clear-cut. This includes quotes, interviews, pressers etc. When they are fully reduced to lying talking heads and leaks and perish from lack of viewership and revenue then, perhaps, healthy trees of knowledge may take root.

Thomas, you are focused on the wrong thing. ALL of u are focusing on the wrong thing. I made the reference to the OJ (well, Mark Fuhrman) trial yesterday. I bet a squadron pal that there was no way a LA jury would convict OJ, no way. Bet him a pitcher of margaritas that OJ would be acquitted BEFORE the trial began and maintained my opinion throughout the trial. That pitcher was great. Salted rim, chips and salsa, yummy. The defense focused only on the glove and the jury's emotions. The prosecution WAS the defense and they couldn't find their rear ends with hydraulics and mirrors. I was still disappointed by the verdict but I knew the jury would acquit. The Republicans ARE doing the same thing as Marsha Clark. The issue is the Ukrainians "losing" 7 billion (with a B) dollars of foreign aid before Zelensky was elected. Trump wanted and still wants that loss to be investigated and wants to know WHY so much foreign aid was mysteriously "lost" before YOU AND ME send Ukraine any more money. Hunter Biden was being paid by the Ukrainian company's bank (owned by the same guy who owned Burisma) that "lost" 1.8 billion (with a B) dollars and when a Ukrainian prosecutor investigated that particular "loss", Joe Biden forced Ukraine to fire that prosecutor. THAT is why Biden's name was mentioned. The GOP, especially the Senate, as usual, is dorking the dog by giving credibility to the Marxist's sleight of hand, focusing on the bloody glove. Ergo, prepare yourselves for the same gut punch you felt with the OJ verdict.

It’s really pretty simple, the leftist and liberal Democrats have been claiming that former Obama era Vice-President Joe Biden will be President Trump’s Democrat political opponent in the 2020 election, and that Trump has committed a very serious impeachable offense that is just cause to remove him from office by asking the Ukrainian government in a telephone conversation to cooperate with the US Attorney General in investigating Biden’s connections to big time political corruption in Ukraine that may have involved a large amount of US foreign aid money some of which may have ended up in Biden’s son’s pockets, along with helping the Attorney General in his conduct of a malfeasance investigation related to the obvious Democrat led coup try against Trump in the 2016 election. But in reality, at the moment, and at the time that the telephone call occurred, Biden was and is only a “potential” 2020 Democrat opponent of President Trump, and will only become Trump’s Democrat opponent in the 2020 election if he is nominated by the Democrats at their National Convention next Summer. At the moment it is in doubt big time that Biden will ever get that nomination, so what the Democrats are claiming about Biden’s political status as being Trump’s 2020 political opponent is a misrepresentation. Essentially what the Democrats are saying is that anytime there is a Republican President in office, that Democrat politicians who decide to run for the Democrat nomination to run against that President, or by extension any other elected office, should be immune from being investigated by the Republican administered US Department of Justice for serious crimes that he or she may have committed in the past. There is no such US law or official government policy to back up that bogus Democrat politically based immunity contention. Clearly Dan Crenshaw is a raising Republican political star.

FTA: Does becoming a potential political opponent of the sitting president shield a politician from investigation of his or her political corruption, exposure of which could harm his/her electoral prospects? Since the only charge left that the Democrats are trying to impeach President Trump for is political corruption, then all politically corrupt politicians need to do to be protected from scrutiny of their crimes is run for president. If being corrupt is a disqualifier for being President, why is it not a disqualifier for running for President? And, why is it a crime to even investigate political corruption by a potential candidate?

I read the other day of another Republican Congressman who has decided not to run for reelection. I wish that Congressman Crenshaw could recruit other fine former military men - like himself - and women who love their country and are well-educated and disciplined and willing to serve their country again as Members of the House. I don't know how it is done, but if they are looking for a fine pool of men and women from which to choose, they could not choose from any more qualified group than former military. Maybe Gary Sinese could have some input too.

One of the most despicable things about the Biden administration is that, even as it doubles and triples down on the COVID restrictions it wants for Americans, it’s utterly unconcerned about the diseases flooding across the border along with the illegal aliens Biden is unconstitutionally welcoming in. The president and CEO of Greyhound Lines, though, is demanding that, at the very least, its workers and other passengers get protected from the COVID so many illegal aliens bring with them. From the start of his campaign, Biden weaponized the Wuhan virus against Trump. Informed and intelligent people realized very quickly that Trump was moving with extraordinary rapidity

Biden has issued Executive Orders that ban enforcing immigration law while simultaneously inviting in a new wave of illegal immigrants. These EOs also suspend deporting illegal immigrants, even those awaiting trial for felonies and other serious crimes, and signal that all new arrivals will be eligible for social benefits such as healthcare. Cesar Chavez’s struggle in the 1970s and ‘80s can help explain the impact this will have on labor markets in general and working-class Americans in particular. Chavez understood that illegal immigration diminishes workers’ earning power.

It began with throw pillows. Pillows shouldn't matter much, but like every decision we make now, they matter more than you think. The old sofa had to go. It had lasted 25 years, by some miracle. The old sofa was U.S.-made. Only 20% of today's furniture is. It was expensive; the store owner told us we'd be able re-upholster it down the road, though that would be expensive, too. He was right on both counts. He retired. His kids run the store now. We managed to find a new sofa, also made here. A different color. So we needed throw pillows.
