Recent polls have shown that most Americans believe that homosexuals are “born that way” rather than become gay as the result of environmental factors. In fact, perpetuating the belief that sexual orientation is innate has been crucial to the gay rights movement. According to the most recent Gallup Poll on the subject, 88 percent of people who believe homosexuals are “born that way” support the legality of same-sex marriage, while only 39 percent of those who believe homosexuality is the result of environmental factors support the legality of same-sex marriage.
So, what happens when science proves that homosexuals aren’t “born that way”?

I believe it is a choice. I know too many men and women who were with a member of the opposite sex. They had children with them. Many of the relationships were long term. One guy had children that were in their 30’s. Suddenly they switched. De Blasio’s wife is an example of someone who switched to heterosexual. I currently work with a woman who had children in their 20’s. She decided after all those years that she is a lesbian. She divorced her husband. She’s now living with a woman. She says that if they split up, she will go back to men. It all seems to be what feels good at the moment. It’s a choice.

Jerry Falwell had a program for repentant homosexuals that wanted out of the life style. I seem to remember they stated almost unanimously, they had been molested as children.

This canard that "God made me this way" has provided cover to the most abhorrent human behavior going all the way back to biblical times. Whether it is the desire to murder, rape, get drunk, do drugs, steal or yes, have sex with animals or even your own gender, trust me ... Almighty God didn't "make you do it"! It is learned behavior, pure and simple. Nurture over nature if you want to throw out God but --- no matter --- YOU are responsible for ALL of your own behavior. Yes, it is a choice or strong preference. Maybe the devil made you "do it" but not God. Nice try though.
The "gay gene" concept always sounded to me like the Nazi concept of "Aryan blood". Why only that gene? Why not one that that makes you think you're a unicorn or you can fly? Please. And why is gayness such a small (but very vocal) part of the entire world? Instead, it remains less than 2% of the population.

I have long harbored a secret suspicion that the majority of homosexual males are driven to their choice by fear. Women are scary creatures - perhaps even qualify as alien life forms! After 42 years of marriage I still haven't learned exactly which behaviors trigger my wife's disapproval under which circumstances. Oh well, I'll spend the rest of my life finding out...

Absolutely it is environmental factors - I’ve seen it in my own extended family. My husband has a nephew who is flamingly homosexual - posts photos of himself on Fakebook in drag. He grew up with a distantly emotional and non-involved father and an overbearing mother. She wouldn’t let him leave their own yard to play and instead took him shopping with her for entertainment. By the time he was nine, he knew more about cosmetics than I did and was already playing dress-up in his older sisters’ clothes.

If there were such a thing as a gay gene, then you would never have identical twins where one was gay and the other is not. I know one such set of twins.

There is no human CO2 caused climate change either, but that doesn't stop the left's propaganda machine from insisting that there is.

Let’s remember, there is no such thing as “settled science”, regardless what Algore says. I’m glad this research is being done. I have no doubt that it is a choice for some, but for all? The M-F sex drive is a mighty powerful thing. And there were gays long before it was a PC and stylish thing to be. In fact it was (still is?) an incredibly difficult thing for some to admit to family and friends. What would both suppress natural opposite sex attraction and make someone choose what has been a very difficult path? I don’t know, and at least so far, science apparently doesn’t know either.

Well thought out #12. I am open to the possibility that some people are predisposed to be different and that not all were traumatized into abnormality. However; I firmly believe that some are traumatized into abnormality and some who would otherwise be normal but were "recruited" into the lifestyle.
To make resisting trauma being inflicted on the innocent is abhorrent and that is part of our current "PC" culture's dogma.

I think another environmental factor could be diet. I have reasons why I am leaning to that thought process.

I'd like to know more about those genetic markers that are associated with, but not predictive of, homosexuality. Could they be necessary but not sufficient for homosexual attraction? They might make a person vulnerable to developmental or environmental factors that lead to homosexuality. In high school (years before homosexuality was cool), I knew a guy who announced that he was gay because "boys are easier". Personally, I felt that there was a flaw in his reasoning. I mean, I understood the logic, but his solution did not compute. Boys were just not in the solution space. Maybe it was my friend's genes that allowed him to see it differently.

I think #12 is correct. There are some who are predisposed to homosexuality. I have a friend whose nephew was extremely effeminate since puberty and now is gay. There does seem to be inherited factors at work in some, not all gays. You only have to look at some of the butch female athletes to realize that they were always going to be lesbians. That said, there are other reasons at work here....environment, being molested at a young age, mental issues, being seduced by an older person of the same sex, etc.

Liberals have a very strange way of going through life. The more "they" prove the life of Christ though science and history the more they bash him and the bible. The more they prove climate change is a commie plot the more they dbl down. The more they prove Liberalism is a brain disorder the more they prove it. They only wanna believe science when it works for them. Constantly mad, constantly attacking the happy, constantly attacking the innocent. Can you imagine how unhappy they would be if they lived like a communist.

Not only is there no gay gene, but if there was, the whole gaystapo community would be rushing to the pro life camp so fast it would make the nation tip over from the sucking vacuum left behind. Rush has been saying this for years and I happen to agree with it.
From what I have seen, this is a lifestyle choice made by people who have either been ignoring or have forgotten God. God does love them, but He does not support their choices in this matter.

The evidence I have seen suggests that an abnormal surge in hormones during pregnancy pushes some developing unborn babies towards homosexuality. It's not genetic, but it might as well be. Anyone who has been around children who later developed into homosexuals has seen the signs. Adult homosexuals who engage in pederasty is another matter altogether, but to brand all homosexuals as "perverts" that can be "converted" is ignorant hogwash that does great harm to the cause of resisting the leftwing socialist drift of our nation. Pick your battles. Anti-homosexual bigotry is a huge loser.

When speaking of "eunuchs" as a metaphor for those who don't desire sex with women,
"Some are born so, some are made so be others, and some choose so for the Glory of G-d"
I don't see how this news changes anything, a few are born, many are made by trauma, and a few choose.

Clearly there is no gay gene, since it doesn't appear to be passed down. However, perhaps there is a gene for stupid and lazy, since stupid and lazy DO seem to run in families.
