President Donald John Trump called for speeding capital punishment in the wake of two mass shootings this weekend in El Paso and Dayton. [Snap] President Trump wants to empty death row the right way. Executions work as a deterrent to crime only if they are swift. [Snip] He just made them an offer they cannot accept. Any deal Democrats and their RINO friends want to make will have to include hanging killers. [Snip] Instead of calling them mass shootings, let's just call them a Weekend In Chicago. Imagine a news report of a gunman who turned a Wal-Mart in El Paso into a Weekend In Chicago.

Capital punishment is part of the answer but not by itself. It is the connection of capital punishment with God's Law and by implication His real final punishment beyond the grave that puts the "fear of God" in people. It is hard to connect our law and punishment for murder to God's Law when our man-made law directly defies God's Law in the case of abortion, among other things.
A country in radical rebellion against God will find it hard to find any other choice than anarchy or tyranny.

Capital punishment is a deterrent and it has a zero recidivism rate.

I wish we could trust government with the death penalty. But alas they are not to be trusted. I wish I could trust government and my neighbors with red flag laws but I know neither can be trusted with the power to rescind my rights without due process and without serious consequences for false accusations. Going broke winning isn't winning.
When people elect someone as devoid of honor as Kamala Harris you best think twice about empowering government with the right to kill citizens.

A death penalty without decades of appeals, that is, within 4-6 months, might help a lot. And that 4-6 months without all the comforts of home.

Capital punishment for people who are mentally ill?
Utter nonsense. Trump is reacting like a kneejerk leftist. Young men with schizophrenia should be institutionalized - - and released only when they understand their illness and can be closely monitored by responsible adults - - family or otherwise - - and medical professionals.

Capital punishment works every time. The murderer never murders again! Also, some prospective murderers are deterred by the thoughts of the electric chair or lethal injection.

#7, I have no problem at all putting the violent, murderous mentally ill to death. At least a large part of the purpose is to prevent them from repeating. Mentally ill have a way of getting "cured" and getting out and then doing it again.

Young men with schizophrenia or other mental disorders should be institutionalized and treated long before they go on murderous sprees not after. It should be well televised that once you pull a stunt like this, you will not be coddled by the prison system, your name will not be hyped, your screeds will not be distributed by the media, songs of your exploits will not be sung by your people. You will have a miserable existence until your life is quickly extinguished by the State. I don't care how crazy you are, this will be your inglorious end. Let's see how many want to go this route.

He trapped Democrats again. The party of no punishment is about to deal with 'real common sense' laws and it will force them to say they will not punish mass murders because they want to eliminate capital punishment. Trump is beyond way ahead of Dems.
