Attorney General William Barr’s nearly hour-long interview with CBS News’ Jan Crawford last week was full of fascinating details about the special counsel probe, the debunked Russia collusion theory that roiled Washington for years, and Barr’s investigation into how the FBI and Department of Justice used the “bogus” theory to investigate the Trump campaign. The interview was downplayed by the media, which is implicated in perpetuating the Russia hoax Barr is investigating, and which came in for criticism from Barr for its failure to care about violations of civil liberties. The Supreme Court on Monday rejected the Trump administration’s request to fast track a decision on whether it will hear a case over the president's rescission of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
The justices, in an unsigned order, denied the request, which was filed on behalf of the administration last month to expedite a decision on whether to review the case.
Solicitor General Noel Francisco, who represents the administration in cases before the Supreme Court, had urged the justices to announce their decision on whether they will hear the case by the end of their term later this month.
A federal judge has ruled against congressional Democrats who sought to temporarily stop the president from using military funds for a border wall. Judge Trevor McFadden, a Trump appointee, handed the president a needed victory after the White House suffered several losses in legal battles with Democrats in recent days.
McFadden ruled that House Democrats cannot go to court to block Trump from using military funds to build the border wall "because the Constitution grants the House no standing to litigate these claims."
"To be clear, the Court does not imply that Congress may never sue the Executive to protect its powers," McFadden wrote.

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) said Sunday he believes President Trump will be impeached "at some point" but that Democrats must first build a case for impeachment.
Clyburn, the third-ranking Democrat in House leadership, offered the remarks in an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN's "State of the Union."

With a recent Democratic Party rally in California, and assorted statements from top congressional Democrats on Twitter and elsewhere, it's getting obvious that Democrats are going bonkers on impeaching President Trump. One of the more unfortunate effects of the Trump-Russia investigation — and there have been many — is the weakening of traditional standards of argument and proof in the public debate over allegations that the Trump campaign conspired with Russia to fix the 2016 election. (Just for the record: It didn't.)
In particular, angry disputes about the president have done terrible harm to the principle that an investigator, be it a journalist or a prosecutor, should meet at least some standard of proof before leveling an accusation.

The collapse of Bibi Netanyahu's plans for a governing coalition is not something he saw coming. This in itself marks a rare failure in what has long been an unparalleled political intelligence. Netanyahu will now be forced to re-fight a battle he thought he had won, this time on more treacherous terrain.
Ostensibly, the coalition was lost because former Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman refused to allow his five-member faction to join. He claimed that he was violating his pledge out of principle. The ultra-orthodox coalition members oppose a law making a small number of yeshiva students eligible for military service. Lieberman wants the law.

It’s not much comfort that Americans are not, well, alone in this.
