COLUMBUS, Ohio— Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden declared Saturday that the Equality Act would be his top legislative priority, an effort to enshrine LGBTQ protections into the nation’s labor and civil rights laws. The former vice president shared his hopes of signing the legislation as part of a keynote address to hundreds of activists at the Human Rights Campaign’s annual Ohio gala on the first day of Pride Month. In a half-hour at the lectern, his remarks ranged from emotional tributes to his audience and their personal endurance to condemnations of President Donald Trump.“It’s wrong and it is immoral what they’re doing,” Biden said of the Trump administration.

New York community leaders reportedly stormed out of a closed meeting with US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Wednesday after some felt 'revolted' when she criticized Donald Trump and the US. AOC held the close gathering in the Bronx borough with Community Board 11 members but proved too controversial for two military veterans at least. One of the issues that sparked a sickening feeling in some was when a Middle Eastern member of the Community Board 11 asked for her thoughts on the conflict in Yemen. Ocasio-Cortez is said to have slammed the US role of providing weapons to the Saudi Arabian government in the civil war.

In a move that's just taken effect after approval of the revised application forms, the department says it has updated its immigrant and nonimmigrant visa forms to request the additional information, including 'social media identifiers,' from almost all applicants. In his muddled, obfuscatory farewell remarks, Special Counsel Robert Mueller strongly suggested that, although he and his cohort of Hillary Clinton acolytes had reached no conclusion as to whether President Trump had obstructed justice, Congress should address that question by means of the impeachment “process.” Why? Opening his speech to British parliamentarians in 2011, President Barack Obama said, “I have known few greater honors than the opportunity to address the Mother of Parliaments at Westminster Hall." It is an honor that will not be extended to President Trump next week during his first state visit to Britain, one of a number of differences from the trips made by his predecessors. British and American officials have played down concerns about protests and insist that Trump is being afforded every bit of the usual hospitality — from dinner with the queen to bilateral talks with Theresa May, the prime minister.

This year will be remembered as the year America went to the dogs. At least cinematically. We’ve just seen the release of “A Dog’s Journey.” It is not to be confused with its predecessor “A Dog’s Purpose,” which was different from “A Dog’s Way Home,” which is different (obviously) from “Isle of Dogs.” If that wasn’t enough, the internet is abuzz over the new Milo Ventimiglia film “The Art of Racing in the Rain,” which, while it does not have “dog” in the title, is a story of a family’s life narrated by their pooch. In an editorial published last week, Bloomberg (the news site, not the former mayor) declares that the only way cities can “dramatically improve air quality and extend lives shortened by pollution” is to follow the lead of places like Amsterdam and “ban (non-electric) cars.”
“Cities should offer up-front incentives to buy zero-emission cars, for instance, as well as non-financial benefits such as parking vouchers. Higher taxes on petrol and diesel cars — whether via congestion tolls or at the pump — will encourage drivers to switch and offset some of the costs of the transition,” the editorial board says.

The Illinois Senate has approved a sweeping abortion rights bill.
The 34 – 20 vote comes amid a time when several other states have passed laws essentially banning the practice. The bill establishes a woman’s “fundamental right” to an abortion… and states that “a fertilized egg, embryo or fetus does not have independent rights.”
It also repeals the Illinois abortion law of 1975, eliminating spousal consent, waiting periods, criminal penalties for abortion providers and restrictions on abortion facilities.
The bill now heads to Governor Pritzker. He campaigned on a promise to make Illinois the most progressive state in the country for reproductive rights.

The Trump dossier was a piece of political opposition research compiled by ex-MI6 spy Christopher Steele. The Democrats and the Clinton campaign bankrolled it. The mission was simple. Find dirt on Donald Trump and he used sources that are still active in the Kremlin. Sounds like Clinton-Russia collusion, but that’s a whole other tale. Even from the beginning of this fiasco, the document’s credibility was suspect. It’s loaded with salacious tales about Trump that are pretty much straight trash in the sense that they’re false at face value. It’s why no other outlet decided to publish the document in full, except BuzzFeed because they have no standards.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation had a budget approaching $10 billion during James Comey’s tenure as its director. Combined with budgets for the Central Intelligence Agency and National Security Agency, these agencies cost taxpayers around $30 billion annually.
Therefore, one would think that incriminating evidence derived from the FBI, NSA, or CIA could have linked Donald Trump to Russian hackers or Kremlin operatives, if that evidence existed. Instead, almost all the major findings used to justify investigations into Trump’s campaign are linked to Hillary Clinton or the Democratic Party.

Then 30, Harris was dating 60-year-old Willie Brown, at the time the Democratic speaker of the California State Assembly, when he placed her on the California Medical Assistance Commission in 1994. The position paid over $70,000 per year, $120,700 in current money, and Harris served on the board until 1998.
The medical commission met twice a month, and Harris, a United States senator for California since 2017 and now a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate,

ROME — Stephen K. Bannon had plans to train the next generation of nationalists and right-wing culture warriors at a medieval monastery in the mountains outside of Rome.
But on Friday, the Italian government put those plans in severe doubt, announcing that it intends to revoke the rights to the property, citing among other things a failure to pay concession fees and do maintenance work.
“Proceeding with the revocation is thus a duty,” an official at Italy’s culture ministry, Gianluca Vacca, said in a statement.
The apparent decision jeopardizes one of the projects Bannon had hoped could define his legacy in Europe — a “gladiator school” intended to train future far-right leaders

President Trump and his defenders can successfully attack former Special Counsel Robert Mueller or congressional Democrats on impeachment – but not both. The independent voters who will decide the 2020 election don’t have time for multiple sets of arguments.
Moreover, independent voters have limited interest in all things political. So the president and his advocates should keep it simple and focus on Congress, not Mueller, who resigned Wednesday. Mueller didn’t say anything when he spoke to journalists Wednesday that hadn’t already appeared in his report. That was the point of his news conference.

In this latest episode of “Prosecutors Gone Wild,” special counsel Robert Mueller performed what can only be described in legal terms as “pulling a Jim Comey.”
Like the disgraced FBI ex-director and admitted leaker and liar Mr. Comey, Mr. Mueller has never been elected to so much as dog catcher. He has ZERO political authority whatsoever.
Still, like Mr. Comey before him, Mr. Mueller thirsts for the limelight. As President Trump once said of Mr. Comey, Mr. Mueller is a “showboat.”
Both men covet the political stage, where Mr. Trump holds more authority than any other single politician in the country.
If this is confusing, read the Constitution.

Reading the defamation complaint Svetlana Lokhova filed last Thursday against Stefan Halper and three media giants felt like paging through a Nicholas Sparks novel. But instead of finding a formulistic young love tragedy turned epic romance, Lokhova’s lawsuit exposed the outline the intelligence community used to spread the Russia collusion fiction. It also revealed that the United Kingdom held a prominent role in the plot development.
Other than a blip of notoriety in 2015 when she won a £3.1 million award in a harassment case against her former employer, the Russian bank Sberbank CIB, Lokhova resided in obscurity at Cambridge University. At Cambridge, Lokhova focused on completing her PhD

Abortion is still legal in the United States, but for women in vast swaths of the country it’s a right in name only.
Six states are down to only one abortion clinic; a court stepped in Friday to stop Missouri’s sole clinic from closing, at least for now. Some women seeking abortions have to travel long distances, and face mandatory waiting periods or examinations. On top of that, a new wave of restrictive laws, or outright bans, is rippling across GOP-led states like Alabama and Georgia.

Just two days after special counsel Bob Mueller announced that he wouldn’t testify before Congress about his 450-page report because “the report is my testimony,” House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler announced that he wanted Mueller to testify anyway.
“We will have Mr. Mueller’s testimony,” Nadler told WNYC, and on TV, too. The problem, he claims, is that most people haven’t read the report, and Team Trump is “lying” about what it says.
Funny: Nadler specifically cites Attorney General William Barr as a liar,

What did Robert Mueller know, and when did he know it?
This was among the questions that the Russiagate special counsel dodged at Wednesday’s Justice Department photo opportunity. More concretely, did Mueller promptly report his no-collusion conclusion, or did he cover it up for months, to enervate President Donald J. Trump and energize Democrats? Meanwhile, America tore itself in two. Mueller’s 22-month-long inquiry was like chemotherapy — an invasive, all-consuming nightmare, though seemingly necessary to excise a malignancy. Serious suspicions existed that the Republican party’s standard-bearer conspired with the Kremlin to capture the White House.

A longtime city employee shot and killed 12 people and injured four others after opening fire Friday afternoon in the public works building, making it the country's deadliest mass shooting this year.
Police said officers killed the man, whom they did not name, after he fired at them in the city's scenic Municipal Center in Princess Anne, a campus of about 30 brick Colonial-style buildings.
