Have you ever witnessed a miracle? Have you met a person who experienced one? Sure, I’ve experienced things that seem like they might have a supernatural component. Many to most of us probably have, at least at some point in a long lifetime. But I’m talking about the real deal. That is, something so extraordinary that you can’t quite explain it by normal physical means, nor can medical personnel. Something that is so stunning, that so defies rational-scientific explanation,

It outrages Satan, too.

Perhaps #1 missed the point of the article. It was about the "cause for canonization" of Bishop Sheen. Of course it would be about him, recounting a miracle that has been attributed to his intercession. Because of his devotion to Life, the woman in the article prayed that Bishop Sheen would intercede on her behalf, asking God to save her baby. The baby´s recovery was all Gods doing.
It is most appropriate at this time, when not only abortion but outright infanticide is seemingly acceptable, to revisit his brilliant words on life and morality. If we ever a needed the voice Fulton Sheen in American life it is now.
Through his writings and his television show, Fulton Sheen brought millions and millions of people, from all faiths to "God, Jesus, and Christ."

FTA: "During that traumatic hour-plus, Bonnie and her husband praised specifically and solely to Fulton Sheen for his intercession, asking his help alone in pleading their case to God."
Reference to God. I thought the article gave useful insight to the Catholic canonization process.

#1 is not a Catholic so his opinion on canonization can be understood..
he doesn´t believe in it..
#3 is correct..
TRUE Catholics DO believe in Saints and pray to them to intercede with GOD on our behalf..
call us old fashioned..

I met Bishop Fulton Sheen while in High School - he had one heck of a presence. Looking back on that encounter a comment Bear Bryant made when asked if he walked on water comes to mind, he replied: I won´t say that I do and I won´t say that I don´t but if I did I´d do it before most people got up in the morning. They don´t make them like that anymore.

Anyway . . . if you care about pro-life issues, do go see Unplanned. Gut-wrenching but necessary movie that we need to support. Don´t blink or you´ll miss Mike Lindell´s cameo moment at the end.
Interesting factoid revealed in the movie is that the dirty little secret among Planned Parenthood facilities is that when pro-life prayer warriors pray over a facility, abortions for that day go down 75%. Prayer warriors are credited with shutting down the facility in Bryan, Texas, in fact.
Through prayer and loving, peaceful means. Not ugly discourse aimed at shaming.

I’m very sorry you do not understand veneration #1. It is an amazing gift God gave us, just one more way to connect to Him through the real lives of very holy people.

#10 The women was in shock at the birth of her stillborn child. All she could do was call out Sheen´s name as she felt a personal connection to him through his holiness and prolife efforts. He heard and obviously joined his prayers to the Father for intercession. Do you ever ask relatives and friends to pray for you? We Catholics believe in the community of saints, the amazing force of the Church Triumphant. Your hatred of anything Catholic blinds you. Go to a Latin Mass, open your eyes and heart when the Host becomes the Body and Blood Soul and Divinity of Christ and maybe you will see why we stupid Catholics will not leave our beloved Church, tradition, and doctrine of faith no matter who is pope.

I remember watching Sheen when I was about 12 years old.
His shows used to be available on EWTN, but I don´t know if they still are.
What was interesting to me was that he did not talk about God very often, but delivered messages about living properly.
And Sheen had a natural affinity for the camera, striking various poses, as he displayed his wonderful sense of timing.
One epsiode that I remember well was about a man who collapsed on the NYC subway, at a subway station, and a photographer took photos for 11 minutes before anyone stopped to help the man.
Bishop Sheen paused for about a minute, his body in an oblique position, and with a raised eyebrow, said, "Why didn´t the photographer help the man?"
His TV show was #1 for a while, prime time, and he knocked another show off the air. (might have been Milton Berle, not sure.)

Rejoice Sunday! I read this article in the last five minutes before getting the household ready for Mass and was unable to respond. I would have been the first. The Holy Spirit works in mysterious ways to reveal His Truths.
I grew up watching “Life is Worth Living” every Sunday night. It is still shown on EWTN and Bishop Sheen’s insights into right living are even more relevant today. Last summer I read his autobiography and I could hardly put it down. I was very excited about his cause for canonization going forward and totally Wowed by the story of the miracle.
Our God is the God of the living. Those that have passed from this earthly life remain alive and active members of the Kingdom of God. Every soul in Heaven is a saint. The Church’s public recognition of a holy life, such as St. John Paul II and St. Theresa of Calcutta, provides the faithful with examples in the spiritual journey worthy to emulate, and patrons to help us along the way. We are also members of the Communion of Saints in our status as the Church Militant, the soldiers of Christ fighting the earthly battle. We are “backed-up” in this battle by our allies in the Church Triumphant with their prayers, supplications and intercessions on our behalf – the “currency” in the “economy” of salvation. God performs all miracles. In addition to the earthly battlefield, the Church Triumphant and Militant assist the members of the Church Suffering, the souls in Purgatory washing their garments before entering the Court of Christ. Our eternal lives have already begun. The Kingdom of God is at hand.

As a practicing member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon), I used to watch Bishop Sheen every week. I very much admired him. He was a good force in the world.

Does anyone remember the name of Bishop Sheen´s well-known television show? It was "Life is Worth Living."
For little James Fulton Engstrom, it certainly is, and I don´t care whether it was the great Bishop Fulton J. Sheen, or God, who saw to it that James will get to live his life.
As to canonization, Bishop Sheen was a good and holy man, and if the Church sees fit to make him a saint, so be it.

Christians ask their fellow church members to pray for them. Why not ask the departed to do the same?

Bishop Sheen won two Emmy awards. For one of them, he said in his acceptance speech, "I´d like to thank my writers--Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John."
