The charges against Jussie Smollett have been dropped. The Empire actor will appear in court in Chicago on Tuesday for an emergency hearing. Smollett´s lawyers announced the news in a statement where they said he was a ´vilified´ victim. Smollett, 36, was facing up to 48 years behind bars on 16 felony counts of filing a false police report. He was initially indicted by prosecutors with just one charge but a grand jury added another 15 on to it for every time he allegedly lied to police.

I guess being a member of one of the ´Chosen Groups´ has it´s advantages. Now, who is he and his sleazy lawyers going to sue?

We can´t have the upper crust being punished now, can we... How much money did you have to pay to get off the hook... Not that Chicago is a DemocRAT corrupted city or anything.

Anyone believe that this is not the result of Mooch sending her minions to put pressure on the prosecutors? I’d love to know what the threat was.
16 felonies and he walks - who else but a black, homosexual Marxist could get away with that?

CNBC has a slightly longer story. Local charges have been dropped. Federal charges (related to the threatening mail sent to the "Empire" production studio) are still alive.

Of course. “The Chicago way”.
America ... PLEASE never vote for this level of leftist corruption and divisiveness again from places like Chicago. We MUST politically quarantine corrupt places — so the rest of us, good Americans all, black white Latino Asian and otherwise, can get along in peace, prosperity, and harmony.

And this is a surprise to whom?
Now he can still claim to be the innocent victim of a MAGA inspired hate crime and there will be no evidence presented to refute his claim.

One positive from this? I can see the public disgust from this whitewashing (yeah, I know) driving more people away from liberal thought. Even if it´s a few, it´s a good thing.

Criminals in charge of the Prosecutor´s office in Chicago, of course.
If they didn´t have their corruption, they´d have nothing left at all.
Corrupt, through and through. This guy should have spent time in jail and gotten a felony record for this crime.

Oops, sorry. Hit the wrong button in my zeal to post.
Well, the Chicago Mob is back in force. Disposes of two birds with one stone (not a conspiracy theory--imho). First, this FOO (friend of former president O) could not be held to account--that wouldn´t be prudent. Second, Mueller isn´t working out like the Left planned, so with this they will wipe Mueller off the front page/headline news/breaking news, and Adam Schiff-ty is safe for another day or week.
These people never do anything without politics involved. Check the bank accounts of all those involved.
MAGA!!! KAG!!! Another proof of the two tiers justice system.

Did he give evidence against his attorney Geragos, the un-indicted co-conspirator in the Nike case, in return for Smollett´s 16 federal charges being dropped? Curiouser and curiouser.
More likely Jussie´s friends, the Obama´s, called in a "Chicago" favor and got the charges dropped.

So much for American "justice".
Imagine if one of us had tried the same stunt, only making it look like some LGBT type and done it.
If it got any legal attention, once the fraud was discovered I think we all know where the perp would be right now. Hint; it´s a big strong building with iron bars.

Regardless of what the court said and did. Smollett no longer has a career and pity the other actors on a show I never watched losing their jobs. #BLM....NOT!

It would have been a waste of Illinois taxpayer money to prosecute the idiot. After spending all that money, he would have gotten a slap on the wrist and become a folk hero to the racists.
Federal penalty is more than state penalty. Jussie has jumped from the frying pan into the fire.
It is, however, another stain on Chicago politics. It is also a stain on the people who elect the Chicago politicians. If they want to live in a septic tank, let them have at it!

The attorney is not named. But Mark Geragos has been previously identified as Jussie Smollett´s lawyer.
Probably not a good day to have Geragos stand up to announce your exoneration, given that he is likely the unindicted co-conspirator in the Avenetti Nike extortion affair.
Also not a good day to be Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson, who thought it would be a good idea to have a press conference instead of a trial. And thanks in part to Johnson´s moronic press conference and self-serving political posturing, that´s all we´re going to get by way of justice in this case.
But if Geragos is involved, you can be assured that is not all the perp is going to get. Smollett is about to be paid a substantial sum of money by the city of Chicago thanks to the incompetence of Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who appointed Johnson despite the fact that he was neither recommended by the Police Board nor applied for the job, and the Chicago city council, who confirmed Johnson in the position 50-0.
FTA: "Chicago Police chiefs, who were confident in their evidence against Smollett, are ´furious´ about the decision, according to sources cited by TMZ."
So, still too stupid to shut up after all of this.
Affirmative Action in action.

"Outraged" is too weak of a word for this obvious travesty. Being black, gay or a democrat does indeed have its privileges. I smell Obama hands all over this because he and his beard are big fans of all three.

Look at it this way, the Chicago government infrastructure is corrupt and will always be corrupt. If Jussie had been jailed it would have been in a luxury condo like JJ Jr. had and the taxpayers would have financed his drugs, cable and gourmet diet. We know he´s guilty and will probably never work again in the entertainment industry. OJ "got off" but he was hated forever afterwards. That´s probably punishment enough for somebody who bathes himself in the light of public adoration. My one hope is that this travesty can be traced back to the kenyan disgrace and his linebacker lover, which would put a dent in their bargain basement book sales.

Absolutely outrageous,!!!!! And proof once again that there are different levels of justice. Smollett checks all the boxes: a "celebrity" with all sorts off celeb. backing, Gay, Black and, most of all, anti Trump! No wonder Trump was elected and may be re-elected........it is obvious to all the rest of us that this democracy, where all are treated equally, is more equal for some than others! And he is the only candidate who actually, boorish and brash as he may be at times, understands this and is FOR equal justice for all. Others may mouth it, but their actions speak volumes.

Ain´t dat nice? When you is black you can doe what you wants, and go free. A white person would be imprisoned for his fake letter and his made up attack! All the wasted police hours, just like the one from Africa who was climbing on the Statue of Liberty.
Sasquatch stepped in, and dem big feet still carry some weight!
