President Trump must respond forcefully to Nicolas Maduro´s arrest on Thursday of interim Venezuelan President Juan Guaido´s chief of staff, Roberto Marrero. In allowing its rhetoric to exceed its actions, the Trump administration has ceded the strategic initiative to Maduro. In recent weeks we´ve seen repeated pledges for new tough action against Maduro from officials such as Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and national security adviser John Bolton. But President Trump and President Ivan Duque of Colombia have been reluctant to embrace those bolder actions. The consequences are clear: Maduro´s retained power, Guaido´s inability to win greater support from Venezuela´s

I think they need to look up the word “failing” in the dictionary.

Very typical reporting. Democrats (like Obama) stick their head in the sand or kick the can down the road on a crisis, and they are hailed as great statesmen. Trump actually tries to fix a problem (think Venezuela and North Korea), and he is "failing" because the results are not happening fast enough. So typical.

Brave guy, going back into the country that wants you dead. I don´t think the 101 1st Air born need to invade to save him.

How about seeing the Venezuelans rioting in the streets and helping themselves a bit first. Let´s see the military abandon Maduro and liberate their own damn country.

Maduro is starving his country and somehow Trump is failing?
If I was Trump I would arrange for Maduro to wake up with a horse head in bed.
To satisfy PETA the horse would have to have died of natural causes like being eaten in Venezuela.

Weird how the Left try to make everything Trump´s fault. It´s Socialism and a vicious little Socialist tyrant that is failing in Venezuela.

The solution proposed in the last two paragraphs is a Naval blockade of Venezuelan oil to Cuba, who is supplying Maduro´s thugs.
A confrontation at sea could prompt Venezuela and Cuba to deploy Naval forces and could escalate to a shooting incident. Who knows what those two crazy dictators would do?
Stay out of it and clandestinely help the Venezuelan people take back their country.

De blasio and buttho are certainly failing with respect to venezuela. Obumbum certainly didn’t do anything to stop the inevitable; in fact he promoted socialistic policies, thereby promoting today’s problem in venezuela.

Trump has absolutely NOTHING TO DO WITH Venezuela. He CANNOT "fail" there, because he has no significant goals, other than not supporting the thug in charge.
Idiot premise.

So the Dems, Bernie and all the other DEMOCRATIC socialists think Trump has FAILED Venezuela.
Your turn. Call Maduro and tell him that Alex*** Occasional-Cortex thinks he should do What? Hang in there Maduro, another 18 months and we might elect somebody that agrees with you.

The US has no business in Venezuela. Violence there in recent years has been caused by the usual US taxpayer funded meddlers such as Gershman´s NED. US is mad because it wants Venezuela to join IMF and World Bank so US can control them. In 2002 US backed a failed coup there. In Feb. 2015 Obama tried to assassinate Maduro. The author Tom Rogan needs to get a life. Apparently an aspirational 33 year old UK educated guy, he advocates enslavement of US taxpayers to Endless Unwinnable Wars. Rogan recently gained fame for urging Ukraine to blow up the bridge to Crimea. Rogan must´ve liked the US engineered violent regime change of Ukraine in 2014. To Mr. Rogan: US needs to do one thing: build a 50 foot high wall along its 2000 mile southern border.

A few thousand AKMs and plenty of ammo applied to the right folks might give Maduro a real headache and help him decide to move to Cuba permanently.
