I´ve lived through a Democratic Civil War before. In fact, I’ve been in the middle of two of them. The first was in 1968, when I was the research director for Vice President Hubert Humphrey’s presidential campaign. The second was in 1980, when I was Jimmy Carter’s policy director. Both times, I watched pressure from the party’s liberal wing tear the party apart and bring down a Democratic presidential candidate. Both times, the Republicans took the White House. Both times, liberal dreams were shattered.

Fox News host Jeanine Pirro was yanked off the air on Friday night a week after she ignited controversy, and earned a rare condemnation from her network, over comments about Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar. The network aired a repeat of the documentary show "Scandalous" instead of Pirro´s "Justice with Judge Jeanine," which airs Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET. Pirro has hosted the show since 2011. "We’re not commenting on internal scheduling matters," a Fox News spokesperson told ABC News. The network would not offer further comment and it was not clear when Pirro´s show would return to the air.

Betomania is a lot like Beatlemania – except instead of teenage girls in the 1960s, journalists are now the ones swooning for their star. If the Beatles were around today to sing about media infatuation with newly announced Democratic presidential hopeful Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke, their song would be titled “They love him, yeah, yeah, yeah.” O’Rourke is a skateboarding mix of rock ‘n’ roll (he was in a punk band named Foss), lefty politics, dictatorial ambition and media adoration.

MADISON, Wis. — Democratic presidential candidate Beto O´Rourke told supporters Sunday that he´s never taken LSD and there´s "nothing" he hasn´t already revealed about his past that could come back to hurt his run for office. The former Texas congressman — who has become known for his propensity for using the "f-word" — also promised again to clean up his language, despite breaking such past vows. O´Rourke grabbed much attention as he wrapped up his first week of campaigning, but his challengers could be found at events from the Upper Midwest to the South. And looming over them all

During a weekend interview presidential hopeful Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke said AR-15 sales should be banned in America. This is a continuation of the anti-Second Amendment campaign O’Rourke conducted in his failed 2018 Senate bid. For example, in February 2018 interview with CBS News O’Rourke supported banning bump stocks and made clear his belief that AR-15s ought not be sold in America. He said, “I think banning bump stocks makes a lot of sense. … I don’t know that we should raise the age for buying an AR-15 I just don’t think we should be selling AR-15s

House Majority Leader Steny H. The Maryland Democrat’s statement comes as Mr. Trump reportedly claimed the Democratic Party hates Jewish people, and has continuously criticized lawmakers for not quickly condemning and calling out Rep. Ilhan Omar, a freshman lawmaker who has recently come under scrutiny for anti-semitic tropes. Mr. Hoyer accused the president and GOP colleagues of sowing fear in Jewish people. “These actions should cease immediately. They are unworthy of officials

Yansnier Arias knew it was wrong. It violated the Constitution, not to mention the oath he took as a doctor in Cuba. He had been sent to Venezuela by the Cuban government, one of thousands of doctors deployed to shore up ties between the two allies and alleviate Venezuela’s collapsing medical system. But with President Nicolás Maduro’s re-election on the line, not everyone was allowed to be treated, Dr. Arias said. A couple’s wedding day is typically followed by their honeymoon. But there’s a new trend where newlyweds actually spend their honeymoon away from each other. In the early days of honeymoons — early 1800s — it was a time for couples to travel and visit relatives who couldn’t make it to their wedding. So it was zero alone time, which is quite the departure from this new trend. Take the honey out of the moon and you’ve got a solomoon. On Instagram, almost 1,500 posts display the reality of this new trend, where newlyweds decide to vacation alone or with

Political leaders and public figures were falling over themselves this weekend to condemn the mosque attacks in New Zealand, while dozens of Christians were slaughtered by Muslims in Nigeria to the sound of crickets. The mosque attacks were indeed a horrific affair and worthy of universal condemnation. Presidents, prime ministers, royalty, and religious leaders rushed to extend their condolences to victims and their families — as well they should — while decrying the hate that purportedly motivated the shootings. Without exception, the mainstream media gave top billing to the shootings, with newspapers carrying the story on their front pages and

Here in San Diego, a demonstration of it in action was posted by the San Diego office of the U.S. Border Patrol on Twitter, which was then all over the local news, and then picked up by the Daily Mail. Some 50-plus illegal immigrants traveling in family units slipped through one of the openings in the junk fences delineating the U.S.-Mexico border in San Diego, and then, in two groups, ran in procession to the U.S. Border Patrol vehicle waiting for them on the beach at Imperial Beach to promptly claim asylum.

Ferguson, Mo. - Two young men were found dead inside torched cars. Three others died of apparent suicides. Another collapsed on a bus, his death ruled an overdose. Six deaths, all involving men with connections to protests in Ferguson, Missouri, drew attention on social media and speculation in the activist community that something sinister was at play. Police say there is no evidence the deaths have anything to do with the protests stemming from a white police officer´s fatal shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown, and that only two were homicides with no known link to the protests.

Amidst the welter of good and bad news we are assaulted with every day, by far the most dangerous long-term are the new polls showing America´s youth tilting significantly toward socialism. Not surprisingly, these same young people haven´t the slightest idea of what socialism really is, its history or what it entails, which is suicidal for them more than anyone else. They are the ones who will suffer most if the USA turns into Venezuela. Because of a sclerotic leftwing education system, our youth have been indoctrinated in a simple-minded version of socialism for decades without knowing it.

The Republican-controlled Senate on Thursday followed the lead of the Democratic House and voted to disapprove President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency at the southern border.(Snip)But, ”How dare Trump repurpose defense spending?!” screams Schumer, Senator Marco Rubio, and National Public Radio. Oh, OK. Where was that same indignation when presidents used national emergencies to move defense spending around 18 times between 2001 and 2014? And for real crisis situations, too, like waterfront development in Bahrain, airplane parking lots in Iraq, and a courthouse in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Rules for thee but not for me. So goes the sad reality of politics in America. While the Establishment Media attempts to distract with story after story of a college admissions scandal, or a shooting tragedy across the globe, the real news breaking in the U.S. this week involves some serious Deep State shenanigans whereby ruling class members like the Clintons and Obamas are allowed to do what they want when they want without fear of repercussions. (Snip)In one of the most explosive parts of Strzok’s testimony, he revealed that the Department of Justice struck a deal

Talk of socialism is suddenly everywhere. The journey from a free society to socialism, however, does not occur overnight. It’s a stepped process that begins slowly and ends with a rush. Here are those steps: Step 1. Massive Government Spending. Socialist states have government at the center of their economies and feature enormous spending programs. In early 1990s Sweden often cited as a socialist state, government spending exceeded 70 percent of its economy. Under President Jefferson, government spending was approximately 2 to 3 percent of the economy. Today, we are at 36 percent. Sweden, now walking away from socialism,

Rep. Ilhan Omar from Minnesota poses an interesting case study in American cultural or civilizational consciousness. She is the first congressional representative to wear a scarf around her head, and that scarf is for some a symbol of the breadth and depth of our acceptance of others. For others, it is a symbol of alienation and rejection of the America she claims — simply by holding office — to represent. (snip) her comments blew her cover. She cannot simply be seen as a highly motivated immigrant

A young pro-life activist completely destroyed the major abortion arguments during a hearing on Rhode Island’s late-term abortion bill. Following the left’s recent trend toward infanticide, Democrats in Rhode Island are preparing to pass Senate Bill 152, a horrifying bill which would legalize abortion up to moments before the baby’s birth. And as Matthew Thomas Foster pointed out at last week’s hearing, the Rhode Island bill is eerily similar to the equally horrifying bill passed in New York and bills proposed in Vermont and New Mexico.

Hundreds of protesters descended on D.C. at Lafayette Square near the White House on Saturday to show their support for Venezuela’s embattled socialist dictator Nicolas Maduro. The “Hands Off Venezuela” protesters are not only against any sort of intervention in Venezuela, but many actually believe Maduro is a good leader. So much so, some even admitted they would trade President Donald Trump for Maduro when asked by The Daily Caller. It’s no secret that Madruo’s regime is repressive, violent and corrupt. It’s shocking to hear that some Americans seriously support him staying in power. The group’s website accuses the Trump

Reuters bragged Friday about its scoop that Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke was once involved in a notorious hacker group, but revealed in the process that one of its reporters willingly sat on the story until after O’Rourke lost his Texas Senate race to incumbent Ted Cruz. Reuters’ Joseph Menn reported exclusively Friday morning that O’Rourke, a former member of Congress and the latest Democrat to join the 2020 presidential race, had a secret membership in an infamous hacking group. The group, known as the Cult of the Dead Cow (CDC), is the oldest and perhaps most influential collection of

President Trump attacked the late Sen. John McCain Saturday over recently revealed evidence that the Arizona lawmaker helped push Russia-collusion rumors in the weeks after Trump’s election. “Spreading the fake and totally discredited Dossier ‘is unfortunately a very dark stain against John McCain,’” Trump tweeted, quoting former independent counsel Ken Starr. Trump continued that McCain “had far worse ‘stains’ than this, including thumbs down on repeal and replace [Obamacare] after years of campaigning to repeal and replace!” David Kramer, a former State Department official and close McCain associate, testified in a 2017 deposition that McCain sent him to London in

AOC Denies Being a Puppet Candidate, She’s Not Being Entirely Truthful… Amid growing revelations surrounding Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as a puppet candidate, enlisted by a group of far-left activists, Ms. AOC tweets a firm denial. (AOC Tweet – Handler Saikat Chakrabarti Tweet) Unfortunately, the AOC denial breaks an Alinsky rule. When a leftist breaks an Alinsky rule, the opposite of their claim is generally accurate; counter-intuitively affirming a stronger likelihood Representative AOC is actually steered by a group of leftists. The evidence to support the puppet proposition is quite strong, albeit somewhat overblown in construct; and unfortunately for Ms. AOC, the

The Democrats now have their rock star in the ever-growing presidential race. On Thursday, Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke officially launched his bid for the presidency. Beto is hoping to capitalize on the excitement that surrounded his losing U.S. Senate race last year in Texas. Despite a massive haul of $80 million, O’Rourke was defeated by incumbent U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX). During his online announcement speech, O’Rourke warned that the United States faces “maximum peril,” but

The dossier that launched several investigations into Donald Trump and his presidential campaign was based, in part, on posts from "random individuals" from a CNN website that allows the public to publish unverified information.Christopher Steele made the admission in a deposition given in connection with a lawsuit against the dossier. The judge released portions of the deposition this week.Washington Examiner: According to deposition transcripts released this week, Steele said last year he used a 2009 report he found on CNN´s iReport website and said he wasn´t aware that submissions to that site are posted by members of the public and

ABC’s The View co-host Meghan McCain said Saturday evening that no one will ever love President Donald Trump in the same way her late father Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) was loved. “No one will ever love you the way they loved my father…. I wish I had been given more Saturday’s with him. Maybe spend yours with your family instead of on twitter obsessing over mine?” McCain wrote on Twitter. The View co-host’s scathing remarks came in response to President Trump’s criticism of her late father’s involvement in giving the FBI a copy of the largely debunked Steele dossier.

The attempt by students at New York University to blame Chelsea Clinton for the massacre of Muslims in New Zealand is a shocking marker of the temper of our times. At a vigil for the 49 persons killed by a self-described “racist” and “ethno-nationalist eco-fascist,” students accused Ms. Clinton of having stoked the killer’s hatred because — wait for it — she recently criticized anti-Semitism.

Every time I think Britain’s MPs have touched bottom, they sink lower. The House of Commons has just resolved that it will not let Britain leave the EU without explicit permission from Brussels, or, as Europhiles absurdly phrase it, that they will not let Britain “crash out” with “no deal.” With one vote, MPs have destroyed any prospect of an equitable outcome. Eurocrats now know that Britain has only two options: either to leave on humiliating terms, terms that would leave Brussels in charge of its trade policy in perpetuity, or to give up on Brexit entirely.

I’ve lived most of my adult life inside the blood-stained walls of people doing horrible things to one another. At the age of 26, while a state prosecutor outside of Detroit, I spent the better part of a year prosecuting a 17-year-old with a long criminal history who escaped from juvenile detention, broke into a house, and shot a hole through a young father’s head while he was sitting at his desk working from home. As a federal prosecutor, I ran the FBI investigation into a gang leader who decided it was cheaper to murder his drug supplier than pay

An Ohio woman is suing one of the state´s most powerful unions for its continued collection of dues payments over her objections. Connie Pennington has been forced to pay dues to the Communication Workers of America Local 4502 as part of her job with the city of Columbus, but attempted to sever ties after the Supreme Court declared mandatory dues payments unconstitutional in the 2018 Janus v. American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees ruling. The union has maintained that workers should not be allowed to leave the union until its contract with the city

“Michael Corleone says hello.” That line from an iconic scene in “The Godfather 2” is uttered just before an attempted hit on the character Frank Pantageli. The garroting in a bar is broken up by a beat cop who just happens to walk in. The incident is not entirely fiction. In August 1961, Carmine “the Snake” Persico tried to take out Larry Gallo in a very similar incident the scene was based upon. Ten years later, Persico became the boss of the Colombo crime family, and he stayed the boss until last week, when he died in federal prison.

Today’s Yellow Vest protesting in Paris produced violence on a scale not seen since the early days of the movement. AP reports: French yellow vest protesters set life-threatening fires, smashed up luxury stores in Paris and clashed with police Saturday in the 18th straight weekend of demonstrations against President Emmanuel Macron. Large plumes of smoke rose above the rioting on Paris’ landmark Champs-Elysees avenue, and a mother and her child were just barely saved from a building blaze. Cobblestones flew in the air and smoke from fires set by protesters mingled with clouds of tear gas sprayed by police,

Reuters reporter Joseph Menn exclusively revealed on Friday that Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke belonged to one of the best-known groups of computer hackers as a teenager. Within minutes, his special report was the most popular story on Reuters.com here and was picked up by other news outlets. But the origin of the story goes back more than two years. Members of the group, which calls itself Cult of the Dead Cow, protected O’Rourke’s secret for decades, reluctant to compromise the former Texas Congressman’s political career..

With President Trump simultaneously fighting much of his own party as well as Democrats, a Yogi Berra classic fits the occasion: “It’s deja vu all over again.” More than two years into his presidency, Trump is once again at odds with most of Washington. The first veto of his presidency reflects his predicament, one of many perils he faces on the road to 2020. The politics notwithstanding, the president is right to use executive power to find more funds for border barriers and security. To do otherwise would be to betray his promises to secure
