1. We've been down this road before Paul: Electric cars are not new. When the 1901 Chicago Auto Show was staged, more than half of the fourteen vehicles that were shown at that show were electric vehicles. It's not a new idea at all. The problem is, is that there's this nasty little thing called practicality. Advertisement There are a lot of people who are saying, "I've seen all of this, I apparently should be doing it." And then they get hit with the harsh realities of what happens with an electric vehicle. 2. They're more expensive than you think Lauren: If you're thinking about buying an electric car ...

If you're not charging your electric car with a windmill or solar panels you are only pretending. A typical state needs 45 thousand MegaWatts of generating capacity. For just 1 thousand MegaWatts of generating capacity it will take 70 to 100 square miles of solar panels. That's square miles NOT acres. So for the entire needs of a state to be met about 10% of the state will have to be shaved bare of any plant growth, covered in gravel and concrete, then covered in solar panels. How environmentally green is it to destroy that much green plants and trees? BUT if we replace the present fossil fuels usage with electricity then generating capacity will have to triple. So change that to 30% of the land shaved bare.

Some thoughts: - Billions have been invested in EV technology. If the technology fails, alot of people are going to lose their shirts. That alone is incentive to make the technology work. - The runway to make EVs work in the US is quickly approaching and end. Any car that is manufactured in the US quickly ceases production if it does not catch on. EVs have been given a huge grace period to work out all the problems. Not sure its happening. - Watch the rest of the world to see if EVs catch on anywhere. In particular, Europe. Read that the range of EVs in Europe have doubled and is set to double again. Is it true? Who knows? I don't trust any reporting. Europe is also coming out with EV tractor/trailers to replace diesel powered tractor/trailers. Can see this technology never catching on in the US, but being embraced elsewhere.

I considered buying an EV. They can be practical IF (1) you own your own home and can install a high speed charger in your garage, (2) you have low cost electricity in your area or solar panels and battery storage, (3) you live in an urban area, (4) you only use it to drive around town, always within range of your home charger, (5) you have an internal combustion car for whenever you want to drive more than 100 miles from your house, (6) you lease instead of buying so you do not get stuck with it when the battery wears out. Also, the EV has to qualify for government subsidies or it simply is not affordable. After considering all of the pros and cons I decided to buy a used SUV instead.

End the EV "tax credit" then see how they do. I'll be blunt... On another thread a familiar EV supporter stated $48k was not an unreasonable amount for a vehicle these days. I could buy about 6 vehicles, and expect them to each run 10 years or more, for that kind of money. How do I know? It's what I've done all my life. I've owned ONE new car. A 1981 Citation that I kept about 12 years until it succumbed to rust. In NC, where I live now, that's not an issue. You can have your bells and whistles, it's a free country so far.

We went to a local restaurant that my wife wanted to try a couple of evenings ago. It is attached to a large shopping mall, and there is a row of electric car chargers there for the mall. Most of the chargers were empty, of course, but there were three cars there with the people standing around or sitting in the cars, the endless EV wait for the eyedropper to fill up their "fuel tank". And when we had ordered our food, gotten it, eaten it, visited the restroom and cleaned up and headed out, perhaps an hour or a bit more later....the EV folks were still there "fuel" drip, drip, dripping into their "fuel tank". I think one had left. In any case, I had a good laugh at their expense. What a giant time waster those damned foolish things are.

EVs have been available to buy for 130+ years. I spent a day visiting a EV factory in Sebring, Florida in 1974, at the Sebring Vanguard factory. They have ALL failed in the marketplace. EVs have been "the car of the future" for 130+ years, and that remains true today. Chemical batteries, while much improved now, are NEVER going to be able to have the energy density of a tank of gasoline, or the speed of "refilling" of that same tank of liquid petroleum fuel. NEVER. Stop wasting our time. And more CO2 isa BENEFIT to green plants and all living things. CO2 is not harmful, not a pollutant. This oft repeated tale is still a lie, no matter how often they repeat it.

The problem isn’t that so many on the left set up these dumb paradigms, it’s that the ripple effect of their stupidity ruins so many things for normal people who just want to be left the hell alone. They’re the fat kid cannonballing into the hotel pool while everyone else is simply relaxing in the sun. One dumbass can make a whole of people wet. It’s what Democrats do.

Biden is again on a tax-raising rampage. He proposes to increase income taxes by nearly $5 trillion for corporations. Increasing the corporate income tax rate to 28% (from 21%) will be a great driver of negative effects on the U.S. economy, reducing long-run GDP by 0.9%, the capital stock by 1.7%, wages by 0.8%, and full-time jobs by 192,000. Additionally, Biden's new tax proposals include increasing the recently enacted corporate alternative minimum tax rate from 15% to 21% and denying business deductions for employee compensation above $1 million. Biden proposes an increase of the corporate income tax that's a higher tax rate than in communist

Like many alleged felons in Los Angeles County, Teran was out on bail less than an hour after her arrest. Commentary in the liberal press is so uniform that you wonder whether reporters and commentators have coordinated their coverage, down to the word and the phrase. Well, they have, of course. You remember JournoList, where, years ago, reporters would gather to coordinate their pro-Democrat, anti-Republican stories. JournoList supposedly disbanded after it came to light, but I assume it more likely just went underground. Here we have another instance, JournoList 2. Student protesters find themselves in a bit of a bind if they get arrested for their actions on campus. Hundreds of students across the country have been suspended while some have even been expelled for their actions. But imagine you're a recruiter for a Fortune 500 company or a white shoes law firm. The chances of a protester overcoming his or her "youthful indiscretion" and getting hired are somewhere between slim and none. So, many of the students who saw it as a badge of honor to spend a few hours in lockup suddenly realized their future career prospects were out the window.
