NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Clarence “Frogman” Henry, who was one of New Orleans’ best known old-time R&B singers and scored a hit at age 19 with “Ain’t Got No Home,” has died. He was 87. Henry died Sunday night, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation said on social media. It didn’t give the cause of death. Henry, who had been scheduled to perform at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival later this month, imitated the voice of a frog in “Ain’t Got No Home.”

Comments:

Rush used Frogman big hit "Ain't Got No Home" as his homeless update theme. Unforgettable voice.

Right, OP! That must have been a real struggle for AP to write this article without mentioning Rush's elevation of that song across the fruited plain.

The memories. Rush and his "Homeless Update" with this tune. But wait! There's more: "Animal Rights Update" with "Born Free" "Mario Cuomo Update" with "I Put a Spell On You" "Barney Frank Update" with "My Boy Lollipop" "Peace Update" with "Una Paloma Blanca" "Gorbasm Update" with "Imperial March from Empire Strikes Back" And much more. I really miss him.

Henry, you still rock bigly, sir. El Rusbo, wherever he is up there, just said so. You have a nice place now in this world's history. My business trips to "the quarter" year ago and your music remain most memorable. Rest in Peace, Frogman.

Some deaths hit you harder than others. This one inexplicably did for me. A novelty song from my youth from a strangely named singer that I loved.

I saw Clarence "Frogman" Henry at a multi-artist oldies concert. Despite his advanced age, he stole the show. As for Rush Limbaugh, I just visited his website. It's sad how the site stopped posting new articles on February 2, 2021, fifteen days before his tragic death. It's a website frozen in time.

I bought the 'Ain't Got..' single 45 rpm for 10 cents in 1969, at the Salvation Army resale store. Still have it, although I also have a 3 inch CD with that and 3 other cuts. Stopped in to his bar in the French Quarter in 1977. Unfortunately, he wasn't there. Good memories. As always, Rush was the original influencer.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden goes into next year’s election with a vexing challenge: Just as the U.S. economy is getting stronger, people are still feeling horrible about it. Pollsters and economists say there has never been as wide a gap between the underlying health of the economy and public perception. The divergence could be a decisive factor in whether the Democrat secures a second term next year. Republicans are seizing on the dissatisfaction to skewer Biden, while the White House is finding less success as it tries to highlight economic progress.
