Seventeen miles offshore from an island belonging to the Netherlands, a nearly 20,000-ton vessel loaded with vehicles is burning “out of control,” and officials are in a race against time; Lea Versteeg, spokesperson for the Dutch coast guard, reportedly said, “we’re currently working out to see how we can make sure that...the least bad situation is going to happen.”
A Daily Mail article out yesterday reported that at least one crew member had died while “many” others were injured (snip) The coastguard said the cause of the fire was unknown, but had earlier suggested it might have been an electric car.
Gee, who woulda thunk it?

Last year it was the Felicity Ace.
Burned and sank with with about 4000 cars on board.
The environmental impact of that event is still being evaluated.
EVs are an environmental disaster from cradle to grave.

EV battery fires are now the 'most?' frequent cause of death in housing fires in NYC. And those are largely scooter/bike fires not cars. But this isn't important because the Greenies want most of us to die in order to make Gaia better off without so many worthless people. They really do believe that Snail garters have more value than humans.

How long before we start seeing fatal EV battery fires I'm tunnels and on ferries? Leftist NYC will never ban EV's from the Lincoln and Holland tunnels. Yet they do ban vehicles with propane tanks.

To Klaus Schwab and the rest of the “Let them eat bugs” crowd this is a feature of EV’s, not a problem. And when John Kerry heard that people who had ordered cars which are now burnt scrap metal at the bottom of the ocean he said, “They don’t need them anyway. They have legs don’t they? Theresa, darling, I’ll need the plane next week. I’ll be in Cannes and Majorca speaking to some chums about climate change. Oh, God, not the Bombardier! Heavens! What would people think? The G5 of course.”

THEY don't care that EV's cause fires. Unintended consequences? So What. Getting rid of your freedom by getting rid of the ICE is the goal.

I feel sorry for the poor Lamborghinis on board, trapped with those awful rolling fire starters called E-vehicles.

There is a video out that shows what happens when two EV collides - it’s terrifying.

How do electric cars avoid the need for renewable energy or resources when lithium is needed for the batteries?

To #3's point: On the morning of Friday, May 13, 1949, a hazardous materials truck caught fire while passing through the Holland Tunnel, which travels under the Hudson River between New York City and New Jersey. One firefighter was killed and 66 civilians were injured as a result of the fire.

And that wasn't a lithium fire.

The environmentalists proclaim! "Staggering environmental damage", "a disaster of the highest order", "immeasurable levels of synthetic chemicals into the atmosphere". The pollution has already been liberated as gases into the atmosphere. We have a really big atmosphere. If the ship sinks it will consist of iron and inert oxides. The fish will love that artificial reef.

At our recent General Sales Meeting, we were shown video of EV fire in a container (these are the one's you see on a cargo vessel).
I took 6,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire from just 1 container.
Now, these vehicles are on a car-carrier vessel, so they are all on-board loose, not contained in a single container.
Does anyone know if the fumes from the EV battery vehicles are any more noxious or dangerous than a combustion engine vehicle (which would likely only have had a gallon or so of fuel to get it on and off the car-carrier as they are Ro/Ro vessels - roll on / roll off).

It's amusing to me when I notice that the few residents in my community who own those experimental toys park them as far away from their homes as possible.
