Jersey City Councilwoman Amy DeGise doubled down on her decision not to resign amid calls to do so after she allegedly hit a bicyclist in her car last month before fleeing the scene. During a city council meeting Wednesday night, DeGise addressed personal attacks and pushed back on her critics who are calling for her resignation. She said they should wait until the legal process unfolds before commenting further on the situation. About 100 people spoke at the meeting that was open to the public. Most speakers called for DeGise to resign. Only a few expressed support. "When the legal process in traffic court is finished, I will

Comments:

The bike rider appeared to have gone through a red light, but video shows that the councilwoman plowed right into him and kept on driving. Somehow that's not shameful enough for her to resign.

You can't expect every Democrat to stop and pretend to care about every peasant that gets in their way and gets run down. After all, this was a white male... They don't count. Now if he had hit her with his bicycle and left the scene of an accident, he would be behind bars. This proves that there is nothing wrong with their fully functioning legal system. /S

Fleeing the scene?! The “fleeing” aspect is what astute voters look for when choosing a representative. It’s simply a matter of CHARACTER. So this Democrat’s character is lacking big time. NOT THAT THAT MATTERS TO JERSEY VOTERS. How SAD!

Had it been a car running a red light, the car would be cited. The councilwomeman would have been a fault for the coliisiin, stiricking the back off the crossing vehicle vehicle (reckless, failure to maintain control), and she would face far more serious charges for hit and run

Yes the biker ran the red light. However, she hit him hard and he literally was flung high into the air can cartwheeled down. Lucky for her (and him) he was able to get up and walk off the street apparently not injured too badly. That said, fleeing the scene then denying any type of guilt or responsibility for the accident or fleeing is where the problem comes in. If she had stopped, showed concern and waited for the police and been the distressed motorist who hit a biker who ran the red light, she would not be in her current situation.

Bulla Hagar, Kenya—The United States is stepping up to buy about 150,000 metric tons of grain from Ukraine in the next few weeks for an upcoming shipment of food aid from ports no longer blockaded by war, the World Food Program chief has told The Associated Press. The final destinations for the grain are not confirmed and discussions continue, David Beasley said. But the planned shipment, one of several the U.N. agency that fights hunger is pursuing, is more than six times the amount of grain that the first WFP-arranged ship from Ukraine is now carrying toward people in the Horn of Africa at risk of starvation.

Just in case you needed yet another reason not to take the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) seriously, this story should suffice. The agency released a study on Friday recommending that people wear face masks, among other measures, to avoid catching monkeypox. The problem? The precautions the CDC suggested do not line up with what the data shows about the spread of the illness. This week’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) contained research on the spread of the monkeypox virus through contaminated surfaces. The study centered on two patients who lived together and had contracted the virus.

FPU claims to be the only accredited Christian university in California’s Central Valley. “In the days since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. But here’s the problem: This 2,000-year-old text says nothing about abortion.”
