AOC Uses Waitress Experience to Call Out

New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez used her previous waitressing experience to call out fellow Democrat and new New York City Mayor Eric Adams' recent comments on "low-skilled workers" comment. "The suggestion that any job is 'low skill' is a myth perpetuated by wealthy interests to justify inhumane working conditions, little/no healthcare, and low wages," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted on Wednesday. "Plus being a waitress has made me and many others *better* at our jobs than those who've never known that life." The congresswoman's remarks come in response to a statement Adams made during one of his first press conferences as

Comments:

Leftists are quick to jump ugly over an off-hand comment. The bigger picture is that some workers depend heavily on high-income workers.

AOC now has a better-paying job, but it requires less skill than being a waitress. It takes skill to manage multiple tables, checking back with customers just often enough, juggling serving plates, being on your feet all day and being pleasant to people at the same time. It takes no skill to just flap your yap all day. I guess she has strong thumbs from typing tweets on her phone, something most pre-teens have already mastered.

Being a good waitress is hard work, but being a bad one isn't all that difficult. My waitressing experience in college convinced me that I didn't want to do it as a career. Working with the public sucks.

I'll stack my "low skill" work credentials against AOC's or anyone, having dug ditches, run electrical lines in sewers, laid cobblestones, poured molten tar into road cracks, laid hot asphalt, cleaned beer kegs, flipped burgers, pumped gas, and who knows what else... (Be happy to compare my educational and professional credentials, too.) She's nuts. I'm sure she has a whole staff of low skilled workers...or is she a snob for academic credentials and experience. I got news for her, too. Being a Member of Congress is a low-skill job. Anyone can do it.

AOC was, is and always will be a low-skilled person. In her current job she is not a worker, just a big-mouthed agitator keeping herself and her boyfriend living in luxury on our dime. For some people, a degree only makes them worse because they falsely believe they are worth a hoot.

#6 After working with people and the public for twenty years, I had had enough. I found a job where I worked in a room by myself. It was wonderful. No one bothered me. I could concentrate on my work without people breathing down my neck. While I don't mind talking to people, the constant interruptions while working and the demands caused by people made work life miserable. It's a shame I didn't find this job right out of college.

Reminds me that 'Poor Kids' Are Just as Bright as 'White Kids'. FJB There are many highly skilled jobs that can't be done from home; machinist, plumber, electrician, hair stylist, nurse, doctor etc. There are also many low skilled jobs that can be done from home so the term low skilled isn't a good way to describe those that are in jobs that can't be done from home. Low skilled is a good way to describe low paying jobs that have largely been those negatively effected by the shut downs and are those hurt the most.

"Low skilled jobs" are exactly what most of us started our lives with. You do a low skill job to learn the basic skills of work. Then you move up to a medium skill job as you increase your education and experience, and then finally get a high skill career. Well, that is if you have a good work ethic. Sadly, AOC, like most Demon-Rats, don't want people moving up. They want a nice uneducated peasant workforce doing low skilled jobs and depending on the government nanny state to take care of them. That is because, outside of Hollyweird, most educated and successful high skilled people become Conservatives and Republicans.

I've dug ditches, operated tractors, hauled feed bags, cleaned chicken waterers, shoveled chicken crap, and a lot of other 'low skill' jobs. Then I went to college - and drove tractors, welded and pumped gas to help pay for that, then went grad school, and pumped gas, and worked as a mechanic to pay for grad school. I've done a bunch of different jobs - but kept learning that I didn't really want to do those forever and needed to get the education to get a better, more remunerative job. I make sure that I tip my waitresses well, if they do a decent job. And I learn their names and try very much to be friendly, they need a bit of that in their jobs, too. They have a job that needs to be done. And I loved watching Mike Rowe on "Dirty Jobs" and now on "How America Works" because I've done some of those jobs, and know that they have to be done or the whole country literally falls apart. Sandy, the barmaid, probably was a rotten server. That would be why she stole from the tip jar - because she was so obnoxious, and probably lazy that she didn't earn good tips on her own merit, had to steal from others. And leftist who think that they are super smart think that they deserve to be treated better....after all, they think they are way smarter than everyone else. Eye roll.

Hospitalizations of U.S. children under 5 with COVID-19 soared in recent weeks to their highest level since the pandemic began, according to government data released Friday on the only age group not yet eligible for the vaccine. The worrisome trend in children too young to be vaccinated underscores the need for older kids and adults to get their shots to help protect those around them, said Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Since mid-December, with the highly contagious omicron variant spreading furiously around the country, the hospitalization rate in these youngest kids has surged to more than 4 in 100,000 children, up from 2.5 per 100,000.

The liberal wing of the Supreme Court embarrassed itself Friday with a slew of false claims about COVID-19 during oral arguments over Joe Biden’s vaccine mandates. For example, Justice Stephen Breyer claimed hospitals are at capacity because of unvaccinated Americans with COVID. This is false. But perhaps the most ridiculous false claim from a Supreme Court justice came from Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who falsely claimed that 100,000 children are in “serious condition” from COVID. “We have hospitals that are almost at full capacity with people severely ill on ventilators. We have over 100,000 children, which we’ve never had before, in serious condition, and many on ventilators,” Sotomayor claimed.
