Police arrested two people after finding 21 kilograms of the highly-toxic drug carfentanil – enough to kill 50 million people – inside a Southern California home. The synthetic opioid, which is 100-times more potent than fentanyl, is typically used to sedate elephants and other large mammals.Andres Jesus Morales, 20, and 23-year-old Christine Ponce were charged with four felonies for possession for sales of fentanyl, cocaine, and heroin. Both pleaded guilty during an arraignment yesterday and were held without bail. They're due to appear in court again November 9.

Besides which - - there is enough Drano in this country - - right now - - to kill everyone older than seven weeks.
But - - neither Drano nor carfentanil can kill you - - if you don't voluntarily take them.
The "War On Drugs" is now in its 51st feckless year - - and what has it accomplished? No Prohibitionist has ever answered that question - - and I doubt if any will now.

In other words, just about enough to give Hunter Biden a high.

#11, that's pretty inconvenient. Why not just a .38 Special? Much easier to haul around, and just as effective. A bit noisier, though.

Whats with all the drug descriptions lately that say one pill can kill 280 billion people just by looking at it? Why and how would anyone create such a drug, and how would it be cut and marketed? It aint passing the smell test. When I was a kid they were saying one dose of heroin and you're hooked for life with no chance of recovery, and one dose of LSD would end you up in an asylum forever, assuming you dont commit suicide first. Exaggerating does not help the cause. Exaggerating by geometric numbers just makes them look silly.

I agree with #12. While the guillotine suggested by #11 would be rather entertaining, it would be quite difficult to move about. However, #12’s suggestion has limitations, as well. Ammunition is expensive, and considering the number of treasonous bastards in this country, costs would quickly escalate. I have a simple, portable, reusable and ecologically sound solution:
Rope. Tree.

Hunter will take the Big Guy's 10% of the haul, and get higher than balls on a giraffe. Those drugs are obviously for personal use. Nothing else to see here. (Besides, fentanyl has its medical uses, if administered by an anesthesiologist. I have had three spinal fusion operations since 2018, and asked whet they used to knock me out each time. Fentanyl. Just make sure it's administered by a doctor in an operating room. Then you'll be okay.)

#5 has a good point, but there needs to be pressure on solving this problem from a few directions. One other crucial one is to find out where this is coming from and absolutely (by whatever means necessary) eliminate all involved. It could be done. There are ways in China especially that these things can occur.
Part of that might be exposing how much 'the big guy' might be skimming off the top. The margin available for corruption is much greater with elicit drugs, and this is not happening in a vacuum.

The high quantity of carfentanil explains why California went for Newsance in the recall. The positive is they felt no pain before a won't after the vote. Unless the supply dries up.

After being manufactured in either China or Mexico, all of those deadly and illegal drugs are smuggled into the USA by way of the Biden created “open border” with Mexico. In this case the 21 kilograms of carfentanil ( about 50 lbs) could have been smuggled into the USA on foot by way of the borderline in one or two backpacks, or through a US port of entry hidden in some sort of vehicle for that matter. Once in the USA, those drugs are mostly distributed and are sold throughout the country by the Mexican cartels using Mexican operatives, transporters and dealers in both wholesale and retail black markets who are mostly all of Mexican origin and who are in the USA either illegally or legally. When talking about smuggling illegal drugs into the USA from Mexico, the most Mexican origin immigrants, either illegally or legally that there are in the USA, the easier it is for the international drug cartels to distribute and sell dangerous and illegal drugs throughout the USA. Because of that a lot of Americans will die.

I notice the article did not say the pair were arrested for possession for sale of Carfentanil, although it is a Schedule II substance under the Controlled Substances Act and is used to tranquilize elephants, so #6 might be right about Hunter Biden at least catching a buzz.

#19, I once worried over this sort of a 'poison the water supply' kind of a terrorist attack. Most cities get water from a large reservoir or a river. And in a few cases there were news reports of Muslims found hanging around city reservoirs and taking pictures. So, I did a bit of calculation being a curious engineer sort. Even dumping in bags and bags of various toxins wouldn't come anywhere near getting the concentration up to harmful levels in rivers or reservoirs for most poisons. Perhaps over years, if continued, low levels might cause some sort of harm, not sure, but as far as immediate poisoning, pretty much impossible with any normal sort of poisons to get enough into a city water supply.
Now this super fentanyl stuff....I don't know, perhaps it is so deadly that it might be possible. But an old friend who spent a career designing wastewater treatment and drinking water treatment plants for municipalities all across the country has an old saying. "The solution to pollution is dilution" Putting it into a river or lake will be hopelessly diluted, at least for all 'normal' toxins. Notice that there are no guards placed around city water reservoirs. Others have clearly done the same calcs that I did and realized that it can't be done without dozens of semi-loads of toxins and that is pretty much impossible to obtain and deliver without attracting a LOT of attention.

For those posters who have not read the article, it clearly shows the finitely small amount of this powdered and/or crystalized drug it takes to kill millions. It's not one pill. It's powder! It's usually made in China, then sent to Mexico, where it's used to cut it into drugs intended for the US. We lose thousands of young people. China and Mexico don't care!! We should!

A recent video showed an American police officer arresting a drug defendant after a car stop, catching a slight whiff of the fentanyl the perp was carrying, then literally overdosing right on the street. If a fellow office had not been right there to administer the antidote (Naloxone), the ODed officer might have died right there. All it took was inhaling an incredibly small amount of the powerful narcotic. Fentanyl is many times more dangerous than morphine or heroin.
