Atlantic Magazine: ‘Nancy Pelosi
Will Announce that She’s
Stepping Down’

Original Article

Posted By: pensom2, 8/10/2021 8:25:33 PM

The Atlantic magazine on Tuesday published an article suggesting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) would resign from her leadership role "in the not-so distant future." "Sometime in the not-so-distant future, probably after next year’s midterm elections, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will announce that she's stepping down" the Laurene Powell Jobs-owned publication wrote. "Her top deputies… aspire to her job, but they're also in their early 80s, and most Democrats in and out of Congress are counting on them to step aside too."

Comments:

I know, I'll believe it when I see it. But she may be making these noises because her internal polling is indicating the Repub's will be the majority after the next election. She couldn't stand not to be the Speaker.

There is no shortage of crazies in SF just waiting to take her place. That person may not be Speaker but the politics will not change.

I agree with OP. Nancy will want to hang on to her gavel for as long as the Dems control the House, and if she loses that she will probably retire. I don't think she's about to abandon ship based on any polling more than a year out.

Yes, I think she will step down but after midterms is not soon. We are still more than a year away and even more than 6 months before primaries are in full swing,. She also might be pushed out- because when the internal polling in Summer, 2022, shows a blowout for R, she may decide not to be the face of the party.

Pelosi and her generation are at the end of the line. This is their last profiteering run. Trump messed up the deal for four years...and now the problem is those on the extreme left. It wasn't supposed to be like this. Biden cut off the flanks for four years to keep Bernie, Warren and others at bay. Pelosi and Schumur were supposed to rein in the nut cases. But the floodwaters are building, and the Democrats may soon become the second Johnstown Flood getting swept downstream.

Nancy must be feeling very insecure these days. I'll bet she is the one putting this rumor out there and getting some insurance by floating Hakeem Jeffries as her successor. Hakeem Jeffries? Radical and not too bright. OMG, he makes AOC look like a Tea Partier. Nancy knows that her security will keep her alive and EVERYONE will be pleading with her to stay. Jeffries is a star in NY politics. And that should tell you everything. Ya know, it's one thing for systemically stupid New Yorkers to vote for a Hakeem Jeffries and give him a NY congressional seat. It's quite another thing to inflict him on the rest of the country and world. Just when you thought things couldn't get worse. God help us. Say a novena that Nancy stays alive.

A judge has questioned whether Mr. Trump's pardon of the general might be "too broad." The judge who made that comment isn't handling the Flynn case. His comment is shocking, though, while the judge who is sitting on General Flynn's case has yet to respond to the government's motion that the case be dismissed as pardoned. Rarely does anything in the news surprise me anymore, but consider today’s happenings an exception.
