I have been vilified for refusing to be jabbed with an experimental vaccine. I have been told that I am among the worst people on the face of the earth as that refusal is putting an inordinate number of people at risk of near certain death. That it is my civic duty and obligation to be swept up in the hysteria and march meekly in lockstep with whatever the omniscient government bureaucrats tell us to do. That I must sacrifice personal choices and freedom for the benefit of the collective.

The Biden administration announced a temporary ban on evictions across most of the country on Tuesday, a move that bent to intense pressure from liberal House Democrats but that President Biden acknowledged may not prove constitutional.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a moratorium on evictions for 60 days for U.S. counties with “substantial and high levels of community transmission” of the coronavirus, according to an agency news release. About 90 percent of the country will be covered by the ban as the virus’s delta variant spreads quickly throughout the country, Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) said in a statement.

Classical music is under racial attack. Orchestras and opera companies are said to discriminate against black musicians and composers. The canonical repertoire—the product of a centuries-long tradition of musical expression—is allegedly a function of white supremacy.
Not one leader in the field has defended Western art music against these charges. Their silence is emblematic. Other supposed guardians of Western civilization, whether museum directors, humanities professors, or scientists, have gone AWOL in the face of similar claims, lest they themselves be denounced as racist.

Brooklyn-based “rockstar butcher” Fleisher’s has been forced to close its stores because dozens of workers reportedly walked off the job after the CEO removed Black Lives Matter and LGBTQ pride signs that employees had put in the storefront windows. The company’s website says all of its locations, its two stores in New York City and two others in Connecticut, are “temporarily closed.” A notice at Fleisher’s Upper East Side shop said the store won’t reopen until at least the end of August. The beef between workers and management began last month, when Rob Rosania, a leading investor in the butcher, received a text from a pal

All Prince Harry’s missing is a red clown nose. The redheaded royal can be seen attempting to juggle in the background of Meghan Markle’s 40th birthday video with Melissa McCarthy, during which they promote the Duchess of Sussex’s new philanthropic venture with her and Harry’s foundation, Archewell. At first, Harry, 36, stumbles with the balls and appears to fall over in the backyard of the couple’s California home. But then, he succeeds in his attempt at clownery and runs off the screen in excitement. Neither Markle nor McCarthy, 50, can contain their laughter over Harry’s silliness.

Oh, deer—Bambi never had these problems. There’s new evidence that wildlife are a potential breeding ground for COVID-19, where it could continue to evolve despite control efforts in humans. Between January and March 2021, the U.S. Department of Agriculture tested 385 white-tailed deer found throughout the states of Michigan, Illinois, New York and Pennsylvania, where they detected antibodies for SARS-CoV-2 in 40% of the population, both National Geographic and Nature reported on Monday. An additional three samples from January 2020 also showed antibodies.(Snip)Their new report, available to read on bioRxiv while awaiting peer-review, also said the infected deer appeared to be asymptomatic.

There’s a frequently recurring narrative that plays out when a public figure is accused of sexual harassment: a chorus of defenders inevitably emerges to assert that the accused is actually a nice guy, historically respectful of women, and where applicable, has daughters who don’t appear to loathe him. Some of these defenders point out that the accused treated them well and never harassed them personally, as if that detracts from the credibility of the allegations.
When two former staffers accused New York’s governor, Andrew Cuomo, of sexual harassment in February, this ritual chorus of defenders was nowhere to be found.

During a press briefing Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki brushed off concerns about the constitutionality of the Biden administration’s decision to extend the existing eviction moratorium without congressional approval.
President Biden announced Tuesday that the CDC would extend the eviction moratorium in the areas of the country that have been hardest hit by the resurgence of COVID-19. After making announcement, Biden conceded that “the bulk of the constitutional scholars say it’s not likely to pass constitutional muster.”
When a reporter suggested that many Americans are concerned about Biden’s willingness to pursue a constitutionally dubious course of action, Psaki pushed back, suggesting that the reporter was citing non-existent critics.
