Media Trash Woke Olympics Opening Ceremony:
‘Depressing as Hell’

The woke NBCUniversal broadcasted a woke Olympics Opening Ceremony on Friday, and the verdict is in: the display was “depressing as hell,” a Daily Beast headline screamed. Corporate media has been quick to trash the Tokyo Olympics opener as a somber production performed to a “sea of empty seats,” which is a striking departure from descriptions of colorful and bombastic opening ceremonies in Olympics’ past. The nearly four-hour long NBCUniversal broadcast leaned “chillingly more Death Star than Panhellenic” from a “virtually locked down Tokyo” which was a “made for TV event in almost all the worst ways,”

Why trash it, NBC? You have been carrying the water for wokeism since it became a thing. Enjoy the sea of red ink this thing will produce for you, because no one is going to watch this crapfest full of America hating athletes reported upon by the commie Lugenpresse. I wish you nothing but failure.

The whole thing was a like a really, really, long Saturday Night Live skit. Highlights: - kicks off with the a historic tribute to . . . Olympic sport pictograms . . . all reenacted by half drunk Charlie from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Best part was when he dropped his props. - Kabuki Sumo Wrestler walks around bottom of pyramid while aderall-jacked jazz pianist bangs on keyboard with every body part while making psychotic facial gestures. - Elderly baseball player gets held up by the belt on the back of his pants during the torch relay (like a two-year-old getting a swimming lesson) and then takes a step . . . and another step . . . and another step . . . and ten minutes later finally covers 20 feet. - He hands off to . . . Health Care Workers!!! Everybody's favorite Olympic star. This years newest Olympic sport - healthcare. I don't know why they didn't help the old man with the torch rather than stand there watching him suffer. - Then somebody in a wheel chair . . . because . . . - Then they found the only black Japanese I've ever seen in the media to light the Olympic flame. If she hadn't occurred naturally (Haitian father, Japanese mother), I'm sure they would have grown her in a laboratory. - Completely missing -- any Japanese culture (where were the drums and samurai?), any Beethoven" Ode to Joy (the reason Japan made music CDs the size they are) or anything remotely related to physical achievement. Total SNL skit.

The Olympics are done, and just don't know it. It is now a sports spectacular with "woke" political overtones for the US consumer...the ones who carry the financial freight in numerous ways. There may be one or two more...and then it's curtains, unless the clothing and equipment manufacturers and retailers pick up the tab to carry this forward a time or two more. Nothing more than an expanded X Games. Oh, look...China has more medals than the US...yawn...

It seems as if every day we see another slew of headlines about the Delta variant and “resurgence” of the virus in this or that place. In reality, even some of these surges involve a number of new positive tests that are still vastly lower than during the height of the pandemic last winter. Still, there are cities that are bringing back mask mandates and complaining loudly about the slow vaccination rates. These complaints are being picked up in the liberal media, with the vast majority of the blame being cast at a predictable group: white, Republican Trump voters.

GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy may finally be fed up with the political machinations of Liz Cheney. Today, when asked about the situation involving Cheney joining forces with Nancy Pelosi for a January 6th select committee, McCarthy said he couldn’t remember the last time he had talked to her, and called her a “Pelosi Republican.” Apparently, he was also talking about Adam Kinzinger, but honestly, who cares? That represents another escalation between Cheney and the party she is ostensibly still a part of, and it appears clear that there’s no repairing this relationship.

Jen Psaki admitted today that they are in “active discussion” with states about the possibility of reinstating mask mandates because of the rise of the Delta variant. On top of that, she said that because of the variant, they would be keeping restrictions in place on people who want to travel into the United States, claiming there was a surge among the “unvaccinated.” That’s infuriating the Europeans who want or need to travel here, and Americans who have family there who are unable to come here. The White House is taking that position — talking about once again restricting Americans and preventing legal travel into the United States

James could release details of her investigation into whether Cuomo sexually harassed nine women before the end of the summer, something the governor’s office seems to believe is becoming more political by the day. Cuomo senior adviser Richard Azzopardi told The New York Times last week, “the continued leaks are more evidence of the transparent political motivation of the attorney general’s review.” A rather curious statement since Cuomo asked James to look into the allegations while promising cooperation

I don’t know. That covers a lot of territory. But if we limit the inquiry to very famous Democrats, the answer might be Andrew Cuomo and Hunter Biden. They have much in common. Both are sons of very famous fathers. Neither, in all likelihood, would have become prominent but for what their fathers accomplished. That’s certainly the case with Hunter Biden. Both are the subject of sex scandals, albeit of somewhat different sorts. Andrew Cuomo has been accused of sexual harassment by several women who worked in his administration. Hunter Biden apparently was a fixture in the VIP lounges of various D.C. “gentlemen’s clubs”

RedState has written more articles than I can count documenting his contradictions, dishonesty, and even complicity regarding COVID-19 (see here, here, and here for a sample). Yet Fauci continues to be a super-star on the left, largely because he represented a foil to Donald Trump, but also because he’s become even more overtly political under Joe Biden’s tenure. To those who crave power, Fauci is the perfect spokesman, able to parlay faux claims of scientific authority into ever-encroaching government power.

A number of countries are instituting, or proposing to institute, “vaccine passport” systems. This means, basically, that no one will be allowed to go out in public, or to enter most public places, without carrying a certificate of vaccination. Understandably, requiring everyone to have “papers” to engage in normal daily activities rubs many the wrong way. Thus, protests have broken out in several countries. Via the Epoch Times: France24 describes the protests in that country, attributing them for the most part to anti-vaccine conspiracy theories: Starting July 21, a health pass (pass sanitaire) will be needed to access any of France’s leisure and cultural venues
