The remains of Nathan Bedford Forrest and his wife have been removed from Health Sciences Park in Memphis and taken to a vault in an undisclosed location in West Tennessee. Shelby County Commissioner Van Turner, Lee Millar from the Sons of Confederate Veterans and Brent Taylor, current Shelby County Election Commissioner who served as the funeral director overseeing the exhumation, spoke at a press conference Friday outside the park.(Snip) The crew found a "Victorian cradle," containing the initials of Forrest, which tipped them off to the location of the Forrests' remains. Ultimately, the graves were found 10 feet below the plaza base with Forrest's casket being removed

These ignorant anti-Confederate people should read Forrest's speech to the Independent Order of Pole-Bearers Association July 5, 1875, a black organization. It would certainly give them a different view of General Forrest. But then, they don't read history and I doubt if one in ten thousand has read his speech.

Forrest made a fortune in the slave trade, and was one of the founders of the KKK. That is all the simple minded ideologues need or want to know. When the KKK turned violent-- it did not begin that way-- he left the organisation, and later in his life he spoke widely and to big audiences about the need to abolish slavery and to see that negroes enjoyed all the rights of white citizens-- not only the right to vote, but also to hold office. In the Deep South, can you imagine the courage it took to publicly speak this way?
No one who knows his life is surprised. He was one of the toughest, bravest soldiers the world has ever seen. If that seems like hyperbole, read a biography or two.

They may as well have left it for the ferals to come in and dig it up themselves. They're going to tear apart that park anyway. I feel bad for anyone who lives in the area.

Yet another example of the historically and verbally illiterate “woke” tail wagging the dog while lending veracity to “white supremacy”.

In his last ten years of life Bedford Forrest became a broken and contrite evangelical Christian who really tried to make amends for his past sins. Even Gen. William T. Sherman, who desperately wanted to kill Forrest during the War, might have concluded differently had he met the old "saved by the Blood of Christ" Nathan Bedford Forrest, who was a different creature than before. Read Nathan Bedford Forrest's Redemption. If Forrest could get saved, anyone could.

With the left in charge, there is no rest for the unforgiven dead. How soon are they going to demand the removal of George and Martha Washington to a secret vault?

Forrest was one of the founding members of the KKK. however, he quit because he believed the organization was becoming too violent.

It's grisly to dig up the dead - regardless of their background. History cannot be changed but you can learn from it.

May Forrest and his wife rest in peace in a location that honors the General.
Forrest--and all of us for that matter, are better off by not getting near Memphis.

When every Confederate grave is dug up, when every statue has been torn down and desecrated with hammers and graffiti, when every black person is hired not for his intellect and training, but because he "deserves" to get the job and things are still pitiful for the black community, who and what will be left to blame?

Here we go again - applying modern mores to historical figures. As far as being a Confederate general, Forrest was huge dog among big dogs (both North and South). He funded his own army at the beginning of the war and rose in rank from private to leautenant general. As I recall, he had more horses shot out from beneath him than any other officer. Yes, he started the Klan, but he disbanded it too. His tactics on the battlefield are still studied (by foreign countries - I'm not so sure about the US since our officer candidates they're probably in sort of sensitivity training). That's not a bad lifetime acheivement for someone who had no more than a 3rd grade education.
"Get there firstest with the mostest". Rest in peace, General.
