(snip) "First, we need to develop and deploy breakthrough technologies that allows to eliminate emissions throughout the physical economy," he said. "Second, we need to tap the power markets to fund and deploy these innovations, for example, by finding creative ways to finance technologies, and by leveling the playing field, so they can compete with fossil fuels. "Third, governments and corporations need to adopt policies that will make it faster and cheaper to make the transition, and leaders will need to reward those who take difficult steps. To accomplish these three things, international cooperation will be essential."

Who is going to direct this world orchestra? DC is the most corrupt and incompetent in history. I think I would rather go with capitalism, where entrepreneurs invest according to conditions that are most efficient. Bill Gates is neither an economic or scientific genius. Buffett advises to stick with what you know. Good advice for Gates, who should go back to computers.

In other words: tax the American middle class to fund more climate boondoggles for the ultra wealthy elite.
Cocktail parties full of the ultra wealthy looking down on the Little People, telling them how they have to reduce their living standards will surely Save The Planet (tm)... or at least be a fun way to kill some time and keep those egos puffed up.

Billy has not sold his private jets or any of his houses. Are they all run by solar energy? Is his jet an electric jet? Until he proves he believes what he is blabbing about by walking the talk, I won't believe a thing that comes out of his mouth. Did he send his children to private schools? He is really a dictator in-waiting.

Water doesn't flow uphill without a pump, so we need to develop and deploy a magic technology that allows water to flow uphill all by itself. In the meantime lets destroy all of the pumps we already have and spend all our money digging ditches up hills so when that magic power to make water flow uphill gets here we'll be ready.

Microsoft bought QDOS and renamed it MS-DOS and sold it to IBM. Microsoft bought Powerpoint from Forethought, Microsoft developers hired from Xerox wrote Word and Excel was adapted from Multiplan which was a very advanced spreadsheet that was developed by Microsoft. These programs were usually very similar to existing computer programs offered by other companies. The Windows software was very similar to the existing Mac OS and Jobs and Wozniak acknowledged the many concepts borrowed from Xerox. Apple and Microsoft recognized the value of the operating system innovations and desktop applications while the corporate management in the existing large technology companies were blind to them. Reportedly Microsoft's marketeers were excellent in impressing business management with the claimed superiority of their products and cautioning senior management about the emotional investment of the companies own IT personnel in what the Microsoft marketeers maintained was the other companies less capable products, while Microsoft "embraced and extended" existing technologies. The business strategies were also tried and true described by observers as the fast follower product development model and aggressive marketing.

Bill forgot to mention the fourth component (or intentionally did not mention it:
Fourth, we need to force everyone in the world to take a vaccine designed to prevent pregnancy so as to reduce the world's population... (by pretending that without it they will most surely die.)
He's closer to the fourth goal than the other three.

Sorry for the second post - The point is I am not sure what it is about Bill Gates that qualifies him as a scientific or technology genius.
Freeman Dyson (Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton not vacuum cleaner guy) wrote a great paper on the complexity of a climate model. He did not think any of the existing computer models were nearly adequate.
Yet billionaire business leaders, the news readers and politicians are making trillion dollar judgements based on computer models that they don't understand nor have the advanced mathematics and physics knowledge to evaluate the basic problem much less the interaction with the biosphere.

Lunatic goals.
Dangerous goals.
Misguided, stupid goals.
Harmful goals.
And remember, they are absolutely convinced that THE most pressing problem on Planet Earth, the one that is the root cause of all the evil things that they imagine are happening to their perfect, wonderful and magical Gaia....are caused by WHAT?
People.

Mr. Gates is making a fool of himself. Someone who knows him well should let him understand that Americans are not as impressed with him as he is.
Because he is a "smart" computer coder does not mean he knows everything about every subject that pops up. Money does not equal intelligence in world affairs. His pronouncements are mainly just his opinions and we all have those.
Obviously, the media is quite impressed with him. They are quite impressed with themselves too. They were impressed with Greta Thunberg too.

Gates owns 242,000 acres of farmland, in addition to 25,750 acres of transitional land and 1,234 acres of recreational land, for a grand total of 268,984 acres.
Can we expect to see this land used for solar panels and windmills.?
Can we expect him to make a ton of money by leasing this land for the use of Electricity farms?
All of these windmills and solar panel farms will take up thousands and thousands of acres of land,
Gates has the lock on the land.

Shut up you stupid nerd. "Leveling the playing field" means a huge subsidy must be paid to green energy so it can come close to competing with gasoline and coal. Go back and fix your Windows and leave us alone.

I think the best goal related to climate change is to awaken the public to the fact that "global warming" and "climate change" are a hoax. In fact any climate change we are now seeing is a gradual trend into a colder, wetter climate and the change is driven by a reduction in the intensity of radiant energy from the sun which has been varying in regular cycles for all of history. The earth has seen many warm times and many ice ages and there are many more to come.

#15, I had a 40 year career in engineering simulations. When I retired our group of govt contractors working on major weapons systems was using several of the of the most powerful supercomputers in the world at that time.
We did advanced computer simulations in many physics regimes. While not a modeler of climate, I was a modeler of nearly all other physics and have an excellent grasp of the scientific requirements for valid computer modelling.
I can assure you that the 'climate models' are a scientific joke on several levels. First, they fail to include numerous critical climate phenomena, likely missing multiple as yet unknown phenomena, second, great numbers of the absolutely crucial 'coefficients' for key variables are purely guesswork, most with either zero foundation or the sketchiest of guesses, with absolutely no way to do the required calibration experiments. Suppose you need to hold the temperature of the Pacific Ocean constant while varying the solar insolation up and down 10 percent? Impossible, and forever will be. Finally, due to the immense size and volume of the atmosphere, combined with the limits on available computing power, the cubic "elements" over which the models assume uniformity of all variables are immense, literally many tens of miles, making model coarseness the final nail, of many large, important nails, in the coffin of any chance for useful accuracy.
In short, the climate models are junk science masquerading as revealed truth.

Gates is right - - we should use international cooperation to employ tomorrow's technology today. That should be really easy - - and work out well. Or better yet - - do what Gates did - - just steal the technology from Xerox.
