An Illinois man accused of beating his wife was fatally shot by cops as he hit a deputy in the head with a metal pipe, harrowing bodycam video shows.
The footage, released Monday by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, shows multiple deputies ordering Faustin Guetigo, 27, to drop the metal pipe as he walked up a set of stairs at the couple’s Rockford home on April 10.
Guetigo—whose wife had accused him of punching her at least twice in the head and face—ignored the commands and kept coming at a deputy atop the stairs, hitting him with the pipe and sending him to the ground,

The Biden administration will consider forcing cigarette makers to reduce the nicotine in their cigarettes to levels that aren't addicting—at the same time more than half of U.S. states have legalized marijuana in some form. The administration already was considering banning menthol flavoring in cigarettes, but while they've been chewing over that rule, they've discussed going even further with the possible nicotine limits, according to the Wall Street Journal.(Snip) 'Marijuana smokers tend to inhale more deeply and hold their breath longer than cigarette smokers, which leads to a greater exposure per breath to tar,' the Lung Association says.

Three people were shot, including one possibly fatally, at a Stop & Shop on Long Island on Tuesday—with the gunman apparently then hopping on a nearby bus to flee, according to cops and a report. The bloodshed occurred around 11:15 a.m. at the grocery store at 50 Cherry Valley Ave. in West Hempstead, authorities said—as cops urged residents to stay indoors while a manhunt continued for suspect Gabriel deWitt Wilson, 31. “There has been an active shooter situation at the West Hempstead Stop & Shop,” the Nassau County Police Department confirmed in a tweet a little after noon.

Herpes infections may be a side effect of the COVID-19 vaccine, experts have revealed. Scientists in Israel identified six cases in a new study of patients developing a skin rash known as herpes zoster after receiving the Pfizer vaccine, according to a study in the Rheumatology journal.
Herpes zoster starts off as a small, itchy skin rash, but if left untreated, it could cause nerve damage and pain, the Jerusalem Post reported.
This can include a prolonged burning sensation on the skin even after the rash disappears. Researchers from Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center and Carmel Medical Center in Haifa found those with autoimmune inflammatory

Top U.S. officials late Monday slammed Russia‘s “unprovoked escalation” in the Black Sea, saying Moscow‘s plan to blockade parts of the sea during military exercises is unacceptable and further evidence of Russia‘s intent to undermine neighboring Ukraine. State Department spokesman Ned Price’s condemnation of the Kremlin comes amid a massive buildup of Russian troops along the Ukrainian border and underscores fears in Washington that Russia may be laying the groundwork for a major military offensive. “The United States expresses its deep concern over Russia’s plans to block foreign naval ships and state vessels in parts of the Black Sea, including near occupied Crimea

Kenosha, Wis.—The man in custody in connection with a shooting at a southeastern Wisconsin tavern that left three men dead and three others injured was involved in a fight at the bar before coming back with a handgun and opening fire, authorities said Monday. Rakayo Alandis Vinson, 24, appeared in court on suspicion of first-degree intentional homicide for the early Sunday shooting at the Somers House Tavern in the village of Somers. Kenosha County Court Commissioner Loren Keating set bond for Vinson at $4 million cash, citing the seriousness of the charges, Vinson's record of possession of firearms and the risk of flight.

The City of Cedar Rapids announced on Monday that they would be paying Jerime Mitchell, a Black man who was paralyzed after a police officer shot him during a 2016 traffic stop, $8 million in a settlement. The settlement cancels a trial that was set to begin Tuesday and sets the record for most expensive payout over police misconduct allegations in Iowa history.

The U.S. Department of State announced on Monday it will issue a 'Level 4: Do Not Travel' advisory, its highest warning, for about 80 percent of countries. In an official statement, the agency said the risk of COVID-19 while traveling remains too high and urged Americans to 'reconsider all travel abroad.' 'This does not imply a reassessment of the current health situation in a given country, but rather reflects an adjustment in the State Department's Travel Advisory system to rely more on CDC's existing epidemiological assessments,' the statement read.(Snip) Only three countries-Macau, New Zealand and Taiwan—are currently listed as 'Level 1: Exercise Normal

Thirteen of the nation’s leading electricity companies are pledging to work with President Biden to slash carbon emissions ahead of Thursday’s international White House summit on climate change. On Friday, the companies sent a letter to Mr. Biden urging the administration to design a wide-reaching energy agenda to curb carbon emission more than 80% below 2005 levels by 2030. “A federal policy framework can be designed to support the power sector’s deployment of strategies that are technically feasible, ensure reliability, and maintain affordability for customers,” the companies wrote.(Snip) Among the 13 firms signing the letter was the Exelon Corporation, which is the largest regulated

A 36-year-old Brazilian man caught jumping the border over the weekend pointed to an 8-year-old girl with him and claimed she was his daughter.
Agents didn’t believe him. After questioning the two immigrants, they realized their stories didn’t match up. The man then admitted he was a friend of the child’s mother in Brazil and was using the girl to pretend to be a family, hoping to take advantage of the more lenient treatment U.S. policy affords parents who show up with children in tow. Fake families plagued border authorities during the 2019 surge, and experts say they are pouring through again.

Mike Lindell, a conservative activist and the owner of MyPillow, announced Monday that his company has sued Dominion Voting Systems for $1.6 billion, saying the company has engaged in cancel culture and impeded his First Amendment rights. “MyPillow just sued Dominion for $1.6 billion. This is all about the First Amendment rights to free speech, what they have done to our country,” Mr. Lindell said during a livestream on the Right Side Broadcasting Network. “This isn’t about the money. The campaign manager for a New York City council candidate has sparked backlash after suggesting the Upper West Side is too white and Jewish during a Twitter row. Quinn Mootz, who is running Sara Lind's bid, told her followers that the wealthy Manhattan neighborhood has a 'diversity problem' in now deleted tweets. She added: 'Jews are not POC [people of color] for just being jewish sorry.' In her post on April 13 she noted: 'As of 2018: 10.8% of the population is Asian, 4.1% black, 14.1% hispanic, and 68.4% white. So yeah ima go ahead and say the UWS has a diversity problem.
Comments:
Your city on Marxism. Heavily bLACK neighborhoods are culturally rich, and yet the BLM founder moved to a WHITE neighborhood using BLM funds. Why can't people be left alone to live where they want to live and where they can afford to live, and why are WHITE areas always described as problematic while areas inhabited by every other group (LGBTQ areas, Muslim areas, you name it) are beautiful just as they are?
