The parents of the 20-year-old black man shot dead by a veteran police officer during a traffic stop in Minneapolis say they are refusing to accept that the cop accidentally fired her gun instead of her taser. Daunte Wright was fatally shot by Brooklyn Center Police Officer Kimberly Potter on Sunday after he was pulled over for what police said were expired license plate tags.(Snip) Authorities have not confirmed the nature of the warrant but court records show Wright was being sought after failing to appear in court last month on misdemeanor charges that he fled from officers and possessed a gun without a permit

Hey "parents", you raised this little pos and he was going to end up dead sooner or later anyway. WTH does it matter that a white cop killed him and not another black pos?

Words, meanings... mistake or unintentional? OP's laundry list of what Jr. did, were mistakes - and INTENTIONAL. What the officer did was a mistake, unless the parents accept that the officer should have put a bullet into the perp. It's irrational to watch the video and consider the ramifications this will of course have on her life and not conclude that it was unintentional. Someone is looking for a big ol' payday because their offspring was a criminal.

This happens once every year or two. If they still used nightsticks this would never happen.....but then again policegirls cannot use nightsticks effectively which is why Tazers are ubiquitous.....

Give me a break!
These are the same people who could accept that the Bible teaches "black liberation theology."
They believed (for a time, at least) that Cleopatra was black.
They celebrate make-believe Kwanza.
They can accept this, just like so many people had to accept that a drunk, driving and killing their loved one was not going to go to prison, jail, pay a fine or even do community service.
A dead loved one and the killer gets 3 years' probation with loss of DL.

Let's see. He chose to violently attack a police officer and it turned out very badly for him.
I wonder whose fault that would be?
Yes, a very serious error. I wonder if the female officer had instead been a 6'6" 250 lb male officer whether this nasty criminal would have tried to fight? Or if he had, would it have required anything on the officer's part but a couple of smacks and a slam up against the vehicle?
Female officers can't win fights most of the time without 'help' .....taser or gun. Is that the best we can do?
And, I am not a large man, and would not seek to be a police officer, partially because of the size issue would likely put me in the same situation.

My big issue has been no info on the nature of the outstanding warrant. If it's failure to appear on a traffic misdemeanor this is obviously excessive (deadly) force. and I can't imagine that a 20 year veteran cop can't tell she's holding 3 pounds of pistol or 7 ounces of taser. The accident excuse is simply ineffective riot prevention.

A friend of mine says you should carry your gun on your right side (if you're right-handed) and your taser on your left to avoid this sort of thing.

Fact, 90% of the blacks killed by police would be alive today if they only FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE OFFICER. In every case, the black guy is stopped, then they either run, assault the officer or take off in their car. This case was no different. Yes it was a horrible mistake but the guy would be alive today if he just listened. The sick part is, these people accept the fact that they murder their own children and not a peep out of them. Got it..

FTA: "Authorities have not confirmed the nature of the warrant but court records show Wright was being sought after failing to appear in court last month on misdemeanor charges that he fled from officers and possessed a gun without a permit during an encounter with Minneapolis police last June." Police had reason to believe he might have been armed. But all of this is the cop's fault, according to the one race that can't seem to stay out of trouble.

Looks like the odds of winning the "BLM jackpot" are a lot better than winning the Lotto jackpot. And all you have to do is to raise your kid as a criminal who won't follow instructions when the cops pull him over.

DW parents, why was your kid evading police in the first place? Besides, he is just as dead regardless of the melanin levels of the cop who shot him.

I guess they can believe their son fighting to escape the police when he was being arrested. I assume they're ok with that.

Just keep quiet and wait for the wrongful death out of court $50 million settlement check to clear. Then wipe your tears with hundred dollar bills. As part of your grief process just go buy brand new Cadillacs and book a penthouse at Caesars Palace Las Vegas for a month for some serious rest and relaxation and grief recovery from your loss.

If people would do as the police ask when they are stopped we wouldn’t be having this problem. Put your hands on the wheel and do what you’re told. You’ll survive.

Chris Rock made a great video:
"How not to get your a** kicked by the police".
Funny and very, very true. And now YouTube in all their Communist, brain washing fits of hate, have restricted it. You have to sign in to watch it....and that probably gets you on a list to have the FBI/KGB come and pay you a visit.

You know? Get rid of the tasers. If some perp is willing to flee, or fight with police, just SHOOT THEM!! You either surrender and follow directions or your life is at risk. The body cams will let us know if it was warranted.
And if protesters don't start acting with courtesy, SHOOT THEM, too!!
No rock-throwing, no Molotov cocktails, have a REAL Peaceful Demonstration, meet with your representatives, get some negotiations done. If you are going to act any other way its a riot and lethal force can be applied whether your white, black, yellow, red, green blue... whatever.
And if you are going to demonstrate armed, fine, it's your right BUT! you better keep calm and controlled. If the police feel threatened by your actions, well... And if your going to USE those guns, then call it like it is - an Insurrection or Rebellion. Not these fake labels the Democrats use at the drop of a hat. This crap keeps up, Everyone's going to find out what a REAL insurrection looks like!

#8, I'd been pondering exactly that. But then I found out that police officers actually DO carry the taser on the opposite side from the gun. All of which makes this 'mistake' all the more perplexing! You would think that, even under the most stressful circumstances, the reaction as to which side to access would be automatic after 2x some years on the force!! It's very hard for me to understand how this could have happened to a veteran officer.

Why doesn’t someone ask the parents why they didn’t teach their son to respect the law and police? To not resist arrest?
When Dante got into his car it was impossible for the police to know if he was going to pull out a weapon. For that reason there was nothing wrong with shooting him.

Getting arrested for marijuana and gun possession, failing to show up for the hearing, failing to keep the car registration current, getting pulled over and fleeing the police, then fighting them when apprehended is what? A series of mistakes, or increasingly stupid actions that put the kid in the path of a poorly trained police officer?
