Leaders of the effort to recall California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Sunday they've collected 1.95 million signatures a little more than a week before the deadline, a number they believe will be more than enough to trigger a special recall election.County and state elections officials still need to verify that nearly 1.5 million are valid signatures from registered California voters before the recall can qualify for the ballot. But recall supporters said Sunday that they're confident they've collected enough.
The most recent signature verification numbers from the Secretary of State's Office found that about 83% of the signatures counted by early February were valid.

Interesting! What are the chances that a recall will be successful? And what if it is? Will it solve any issue in California?
And why do they scrutinize signatures of recall voters but not election voters?
So many questions!

Big whoop!!! With the way this country is going, especially in the Soviet Socialist Republik of Cuba-fornia, they will just replace him with someone way, way worse!!!
As much as I hate the thought of all the bloodshed, it's time for Civil War 2 in this nation!!!

If Rick Grenell entered the race he could win. Self flagellating leftists would think it a greater sin to deny a gay high office than voting for him. Perhaps.

it would be a great healing balm to the right-minded of crazeefornia if grenell won.
imho, he would not be a wimpy govenator, like some movie stars we know.
however, it would be such a herculean sacrifice for ric to power - clean the stinking orwellian pig sty that is the
once-golden republic.
i must consult my bookie forthwith.

I'm glad to see this, just because it will take down Newsom a couple notches. He may not actually lose the recall, California is so far gone that just the fact that he's a Democrat makes him the odds-on favorite. I think the ruling oligarchy of public sector employees' unions, tech-funded SF Bay area progressives and tree huggers will make a decision based on whether they think Newsom is still politically useful. If they do, they make cheat the recall signature count so it never happens, if they don't think they can get away with that, they will run the recall but ensure no name-brand Democrat runs. If OTOH they think Newsom is toast, they will anoint a progressive successor to Newsom to run in the recall. This person would then likely win with the backing of the ruling elite and the Republican/conservatives vote split among several candidates.

If anyone think there’s going to be an election, think again. The powers that be will magically rediscover signature verification. Watch 2 million signatures dwindle to under a million in record time.

But, I'm sure that the corruptocrats will find some way to invalidate 75% of their signatures.

Beware: The dems have been signing and faking signatures. So when someone challenges the signatures they will easily point to thousands. And then some judge will rule the whole thing invalid.

After the great promise of Schwarzenegger gave way to disillusionment (as he turned RINO after less than a year), many who oppose Newsom suspect a recall will just rearrange the deck chairs. We'll still be in the People's Republic of California, which has endured 1-party rule for years now...

I dunno. We’ll probably end up with worse. At least it lit a fire under him to finally relax some of the Covid nonsense. I’ll take it but suffer no delusions that anything will really change.

If there a significant number of signatures is validated the voters will be presented with two issues. One, Recall the governor, Yes or No. Two,
Select the replacement. There could be many replacements to choose from. The replacement can be of any party or none.
One Republican already running is John Cox. This man is a recent resident of the state. He has won zero elections. He lost one for the House of Representatives and one for US Senate, both in Illinois. After his failures there he moved to California in 2007.
In California he sponsored two initiatives that failed. In 2018 he ran for governor and secured the Republican nomination, helped no doubt by his personal fortune. He spent four and a half million of his own money on the campaign. He lost by 24 points to Gavin Newsom. Some how he obtained endorsements by well known politicians including President Trump. Most voters didn’t know who Cox is and they still don’t.
When the number of signatures reached one million Cox subjected the state with a TV ad touting himself. In the ad he first attacks the Republican mayor of San Diego, who is very accomplished, then he attacks Newsom for his French Laundry dinner. He then says something about reducing housing costs, getting back to work and making a fresh start.
Other than a useful example of Democrat hypocrisy most people don’t care about Newsom’s dinner but we do care that California is the state that has been locked down hardest and shows no sign of opening up in the near future. John Cox’s ad doesn’t specifically mention the lock down.
If Republicans have any hope in prevailing in the recall, John Cox must be derailed. He is a rich gadfly and a guaranteed loser.

I can't wait for Piglosi's End of Elections bill is passed. I will register in every congressional district in the Union and place my signature on any and all recall petitions involving Dems. Hey, if they change the rules, play by the new rules. Screw 'honor'. It 'All's fair...' now.

The Democrats that run California will be counting the recall signatures behind closed doors with cardboard over the windows. Ken and John on KFI 640 radio in Los Angeles are predicting criminality in the count. So what else is new? The 2020 election set the template for stealing elections. Courts are fearfull of antifa and BLM types showing up at their houses so nothing can be done to put an end to this. Well, there is, but everyone's trusty flintlock is still over the firplace.
