The Chicago Teachers Union's contract is set to expire in June which will soon prompt negotiations between educators and the school board.
Union President Stacy Davis Gates said in early March that her proposed contract for 2024 to 2028 'will cost $50 billion and 3 cents.'
'And so what?' Davis Gates added. 'That’s audacity. That’s Chicago.'
The teachers union is demanding nine percent cost of living adjustments every year.
According to Indeed, the average salary of a teacher in Chicago Public Schools is $67,718. With raises every year for four years, teachers would be getting paid about $95,000 a year by 2028, which is roughly 36 percent higher than the national average.

Of course they go for lower standards. Dumber teachers to make ever dumber students.
The teacher's unions are one of the greater forces for destruction of the country that we have.

Well, if I’m going to risk being shot while teaching in Chicago, $95k won’t be enough for me to do it.

The kids can barely read or write, but the teachers want a raise.

I have long believed that the Teachsters' Union exists to demand three things: more money, for less work, and zero accountability. It's undeniable. What next...a company car?

Teachers are also "Rich" enough to give $hundreds of Millions every election season to Democrats, They gave more to Biden than Trumps entire campaign cost.

(Chicago already owes $32 billion in unpaid pension debt to city workers, including teachers. New York City is a whopping $51 billion in the hole.)

Will their contract stipulate that they have to show up for work? Know something about what they're teaching? Eat cafeteria food?

If only they could be held accountable for producing a failing product, but they are essentially full-time baby sitters considering the horrendous outcomes for the children who are literally an after thought for their union which is designed to obtain the highest wages, best benefits and lucrative pension package for their members, PERIOD.

When a public school district has a student population where only 21% can read the English language proficiently you don’t need a new teacher’s union conflict, what you need are new teachers.
