An impressive 1,475 statues have filled the landscape beside a D-Day memorial overlooking France's Golden Beach in honour of each of the servicemen who fell during the historic mission. The Standing with Giants silhouettes are part of the For Your Tomorrow installation at the British Normandy Memorial, in Ver-Sur-Mer, France. In a stunning nod to the servicemen who fell on D-Day itself, almost 80 years ago, the fields within the British Normandy Memorial campus have been filled with two-metre-tall statues of soldiers - representing the three military services.

They are OUTSTANDING!! What an amazing sight. FTA: "According to the British Normandy Memorial website, the instillation will be available to visit throughout Summer next year. Standing with Giants is a community project, set up in 2019 by Oxfordshire community artist, Dan Barton, and a group of local volunteers. They create large scale art instillations using recycled building materials, and provide meaningful spaces for people to visit, reflect, and remember." Thanks for posting!!

Unfortunately Biden could never appear as US President among those 1,475 war heroes, no doubt some of them Irishmen, who gave their lives during the Allied Normandy Invasion on June 6, 1944 and thereafter, and be trusted to not to spin off the cuff some BS about what his long dead Irish origin, and generations back ancestors allegedly told him, or his dead family members, about some incident that supposedly occurred historically in Ireland between Britain and Ireland that may or may not have actually occurred well over a century ago! The political situation between Britain and Ireland back then was very complicated, as I found out when I was growing up, as my mother was a native of a small farm in the West of Ireland who came to the USA as an legal immigrant as a young women. As many Irish families of that era she had family members who were members of the old IRA who took part in ambushes and other military actions, while on the other side of the coin during and after the Second World War her first cousin was a Catholic Chaplain in the British Army who served in France where he survived through the Dunkirk evacuation, was present during all the big battles in North Africa, and in Italy where he was seriously wounded. After that war he was promoted to the position of the Principal Catholic Chaplain of the British Army. According to one of my first cousins in Ireland he used to visit my grandmother on the family farm in the West of Ireland always attired in black civilian priest’s clothing and finally died after the war of his wounds while still on active duty. So you can see that the history between Britain and Ireland was and is very complicated to say the least.

"Golden" beach?! No, this beach was code-named "Gold" beach as part of the overall Operation Overlord, the D-Day landings, and was assigned to the British Army, as were Juno and Sword beaches. Utah and Omaha beaches were assigned to Americans.

A Republican-led effort to pass another border security bill failed on Saturday shortly before the House is expected to pass $95 billion in foreign aid funding. The bill, which failed 215 to 199, contained many components of the conservative H.R. 2 border bill, which has not been touched by the Democrat-led Senate since it passed in May 2023. The failed measure proposed immediate construction of a border wall, asylum restrictions and the reinstatement of Donald Trump's Remain in Mexico policy, which Democrats despise.

Federal officials have sued the Sheetz convenience store chain, claiming the company discriminated against job applicants who were Black, Native American and multiracial.[SNIP] “Federal law mandates that employment practices causing a disparate impact because of race or other protected classifications must be shown by the employer to be necessary to ensure the safe and efficient performance of the particular jobs at issue,” EEOC attorney Debra M. The first model of the USS Enterprise — used in the opening credits of the original “Star Trek” television series — has boldly gone back home, returning to creator Gene Roddenberry’s son decades after it went missing. The model’s disappearance sometime in the 1970s had become the subject of lore, so it caused a stir when it popped up on eBay last fall. The sellers quickly took it down, and then contacted Dallas-based Heritage Auctions to authenticate it. Last weekend, the auction house facilitated the model’s return. Eugene “Rod” Roddenberry, CEO of Roddenberry Entertainment, said he’s thrilled to have the model that had graced the desk of his father.

A California Christian club is fighting to put their cross back on display after city officials used eminent domain to remove it while citing complaints of it being “reminiscent of KKK cross-burnings” and offensive to “diverse communities.” The Albany Lions Club had maintained their majestic 28-foot cross and lit it up for the Christmas and Easter holidays to send “the message of God’s love” and be a “comfort to the Christian community” since 1971, a press release states. [SNIP] According to the civil liberties organization Pacific Justice Institute (PJI), there were “no objections” to the cross until 2016 when an “atheist group raised a complaint."

China's leaders give tax breaks to companies that produce fentanyl chemicals and cause some 80,000 US overdose deaths each year, a damning House report warns. Beijing is fueling America's fentanyl crisis by subsidizing the manufacture of materials used by traffickers to make pills outside the country, say papers from a committee on China. Researchers accessed a government website that revealed tax rebates for the production of specific fentanyl precursors and other synthetics — as long as those companies sell them outside of China.

Following this, USAA, two months later, notified Eastman of the closure of his accounts with the company. USAA cited its Depository Agreement as the basis for its decision, citing its right to ”no longer do banking business” with customers.

Nearly every studio and outlet now has DEI requirements which translate into discriminating against qualified talent over diversity quotas. They’ve led to occasional lawsuits and government legislation to end this practice of illegal discrimination, but this is a unique lawsuit filed by a white producer against Al Roker, for not discriminating against white writers. A white liberal attacking a prominent black personality for not being DEI enough is a good snapshot of an insane racist industry where discrimination is driven more by white ideologues than minority talent.

If we remove the possible outlier Rasmussen survey from the average, showing Trump at +8, Joe Biden would be ahead by 0.4. Republicans might be dismayed by this, and Democrats encouraged. In January of this year, Trump was ahead of Biden by +4. Since then, the poll average
