The Path Forward for Ruth Bader Ginsburg
American Greatness, by George S. Bardmesser

Original Article

Posted By:NorthernDog, 4/14/2019 3:30:26 PM

I am a lowly lawyer who has never argued before the Supreme Court, and never will. I am not a constitutional scholar, Justice Ginsburg has never heard of me, and I know that in the grand scheme of things, my opinion matters to her very little (and almost certainly not at all). Nevertheless, I hope Justice Ginsburg will forgive my presumptuousness, and will entertain this immodest, yet (I believe) very respectful, sincere, timely, and practical proposal. There is no sense ignoring the herd of elephants stomping around the room, so I’ll just say it: Justice Ginsburg is dying. This is

No. Sitting justices (assuming she’s not a corpse already) don’t get to haggle over their successors. Period.

To RBG: quoting Blue Oyster Cult, ‘Don’t fear the reaper’...with lots of cowbell.

Trump is POTUS and makes SOTUS appointments. He has a list he has been working from. Trump is going to outlast Ginsburg, that is certain.

I disagree with the author. RBG has no leverage she can use to negotiate a successor with POTUS. Trump has had it up to HERE with liberal judges placing temporary obstacles in his way. He intends to load SCOTUS with as conservative a court as there ever has been. I think he´ll soon get RBG´s replacement, then Sotomayor´s.

In Nov 2016 Americans went to the polls to cast 136 million votes. Of these, 70,000 in the right places fell in the right column. Tell me it is not divine will. The same God will take care of this ´problem´. Ruthie need not bother herself. She has secondary cancer in two spots on her lungs. Failure to report this is proof of its existence. She is not seeing 1/1/2020. Amy Barrett better be ready to put on her helmet.

It is really sad for the country that a supreme court justice would want Hillary Clinton to be president.

Here’s an idea: replace RBG with Amy Coney Barrett, and then nominate one of the others for the next opening on the Supreme Court.

Or hey, since the Dems are for expanding the Supreme Court, why not nominate all three and a bunch more of conservatives? The exploding heads would create a show to outdo any Fourth of July fireworks ever seen or imagined.

And whether RBG is still with us down here, or with the Big Guy up there in the sky, she will know that it is all her fault.

Mr Bardmesser betrays his ignorance of this.
The Big Guy doesn´t let in anyone who votes to kill the unborn, much less the baby who survives. When RBG closes her eyes for the last time being replaced by Amy Coney Barrett will be the LEAST of her worries.

Nope, no deal. Trump is going to get reelected and RBG will NOT make it past his second term, or Breyer won´t. The SCOTUS now has a somewhat reasonable Conservative majority with Loser Roberts an uncertain vote at times. Trump can wait.

Plus, if enough Conservatives get appointed to the appellate division courts, they will make an enormous difference in shoring up conservative law.

Besides, if Trump cut a deal with RBG, the dems would probably impeach him for it.

I do LOVE the following: "Liberals lost their collective mind and remind us daily that they are still busy searching for it. It will be a long, drawn out, and probably fruitless search."

And if it IS fruitless, they are going to continue losing and the party will crumble. No tears will be shed by me. They evoked this mess and the Country has been paying the price. The final bill is owed by the dem party and they cannot afford it.

Even if she goes to her reward the dims have a gaggle of RBG doubles ready to fill in. She could even be immortalized like Comrades Lenin and Stalin. When Ginsburg goes, and it´s time for Trump to nominate another judge, Trump better make sure it´s REAL conservative this time. Trump better make sure the next nominee is Scalia like, because with Cavanugh being buddy buddies with turncoat Roberts, the Supreme Court could turn liberal with Republicans help.

Is anyone certain that RBG is still alive?
I remind you that when the famous economist, Sir Jeremy Bentham of the University of London died, he had himself stuffed, kept at the University, and was brought out for faculty meetings.
(Should you doubt the truth of this, google him.)
Under Sir Jeremy´s approach, RBG could remain on the court until the 22nd century.

"Here´s a fuller version of the quote, which appears in Darrow´s 1932 work The Story of My Life:

All men have an emotion to kill; when they strongly dislike some one they involuntarily wish he was dead. I have never killed any one, but I have read some obituary notices with great satisfaction."

Justice Ginsburg should make a deal with Trump about her successor. Now. While she still can.

This George Bardmesser doesn´t seem to understand the concept of leverage. What does she think she´s going to get Trump to do...wait until she dies? Everyone´s doing that now, anyway.

Why in the world would the President want to negotiate with anyone? He has an opportunity to change the Court for generations and steer it away from the liberal bent that has given us some terrible rulings. Whether this article is a joke or not. It is not a very good one. The President is too smart to cave when he is in the catbird seat. Be patient. He’s got this.

I hope ACB has something akin to full Secret Service protection in place. And considering the state of the DOJ and the FBI, that security should probably be a private, not involved with the Government, for-profit firm. Their engagement contract should have a clause stating that they get a yuge bonus upon ACB´s confirmation to the SC.

George I now understand why you’re a “lowly lawyer” and it’s apparent your opinion matters not at all not only to Ginsburg but posters here. It’s a stupid idea period. Negotiate with who? Chuck Schumer? Senator Blumenthal? They actually believe they’re going to win the Presidency in 2020 and then Ginsburg will retire even if she has to be kept on life support until then. Their polls show everyone in the country hates President Trump! “No, No, Hell No, Not a Chance”!

The author assumes that Ginsburg is still mentally capable and physically able to negotiate in person. What an optimist.

Trump knows that in any negotiation there is one party that needs the deal worse than the other. He has no incentive to deal. Unlike the author, Trump knows he will get four more years and she will never last that long.

The writer is correct about two things: 1) RGB is dying and 2) she doesn´t care what he thinks --- and oddly enough, no one else cares either. We didn´t need him to point out the obvious. After that, his article is utterly pointless and not worth reading.

I hope RBG lives as long as the Lord wants her to and I would never play God by asking for someone to die before their time. I may hope ... but I won´t ask!

She´ll be history in due time and no need for the Right to cut any kind of a "deal" on her replacement. The Donald knows what we want and he´ll nominate that person and the chips will fall where they may.

Ruth does not look like she has six more years in her. I would like to thank Mitch McConnell for preserving the Scalia seat. They say Justice Thomas will not repeat the Ginsburg mistake and retire at the end of this year just to make sure Trump is an incredible success. Donald promised a lasting difference in the Judiciary and he delivered despite all the anti-Trumper Conservative Constitutionalist opposition of the National Review.

Reading the article and the comments here, reminded me of a recent appropriate song, "Ain´t No Rest for the Wicked" by Cage The Elephant.

The narrator encounters three people living lives deep in different kinds of sin and asks them why they do the evil they do. And part of their response is always:

Oh no, I can´t slow down,
I can´t hold back,
Though you know I wish I could.
Oh, no, there ain´t no rest for the wicked
Until we close our eyes for good.

Reminds me of RBG.

Evil as she is, RBG could still repent of her wicked deeds and be saved. It is Holy Week, after all.

The man, identified by police as 75-year-old Marvin Hajos, raised cassowaries and was injured after falling on a path near their enclosure Friday, according to Alachua County Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Jeff Taylor. Paramedics found Hajos just after 10 a.m. on Friday and transported him to the hospital where he died of his injuries, police said. This is

Alice Moon once reviewed marijuana edibles for a living. So when a doctor told the 29-year-old Californian that she had to stop using cannabis because of a newly discovered syndrome, it threatened to turn her world upside down. Before giving up the drug, she wanted one last hurrah. She´d end five years of daily weed use on a high note, she thought. (Snip) Before the meal began, Moon joked with Jagger that it would be her last supper. A few hours later, she was at home vomiting uncontrollably. She´d spend the next few days in the

She asked whether she would support him if he campaign on “getting rid of low-skilled workers” to ensure higher wages.

The New York Yankees‘ anti-racism efforts have extended to pulling from their seventh-inning stretch a famous recording of the legendary Kate Smith singing “God Bless America.” Not because anyone has complained that the song is racist, but because Smith recorded other racially-insensitive standards from and during the Jim Crow era. The Yankees pulled Smith’s “God Bless America” from the rotation at the start of the season, but the New York Daily News reported the reason Thursday—“the Yankees were made aware of Smith’s history of potential racism.” According to the Daily News, the “potential racism” of which

A detailed report from special counsel Robert S. Mueller III said investigators struggled with both the legal implications of investigating President Trump for possible obstruction of justice and the motives behind a range of his most alarming actions, from seeking the ouster of officials to ordering a memo that would clear his name. [SNIP] “if we had confidence after a thorough investigation of the facts that the President clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state. Based on the facts and the applicable legal standards, we are unable to reach that judgment.”

MSNBC political analyst Zerlina Maxwell criticized conservative-leaning Christians for not being "kinder" and said that South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg is "demonstrating how to actually be a Christian," after the 2020 presidential hopeful shrugged off protesters in Iowa last night. "I think that we are going to see a number of protests. Anti-abortion protesters are going to show up at events throughout this primary," she said on MSNBC Live. "I have no doubt. So I think it´s a test for Democrats, including Mayor Pete, about how they can handle that type of direct adversity."

The frequent critic of Trump is a regular on the network morning show, hosting a segment called “Flake’s Take.” The discussion began with the announcement that Republican Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld would challenge President Trump in 2020 for the GOP nomination, about which Flake remarked “I hope he’s not the last Republican to enter the field.” When asked if he was going to support President Trump in 2020, Flake was

On Tuesday, appearing at a town hall at the University of Virginia, former congressman and current presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke offered a typically egocentric answer when asked why he donated so little money to charity: the audience should understand the sacrifice he’s making running for president. (Video) The Dallas Morning News reported that Maura Nakahata, a senior majoring in chemistry with a minor in government, asked O’Rourke why if he made seven times what her sister made, she gave more money to charity than O’Rourke.
