A huge problem for progs: minority

According to Progressives like Bill de Blasio and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Asian-heritage children of New York City who study hard and pass the entrance examinations for the high quality and very demanding Bronx High School of Science and Stuyvesant High School are a problem. They must be punished with fewer slots at the exam schools, so that more blacks and Hispanics, who can’t score as highly on the exams can attend the schools.

Well, well, well...Facts getting in the way of another leftist ´narrative.´

Affirmative Action crooked admissions not working now?

How in the hell did The Zero and Mooch get into the schools they got into? They clearly were NOT up to the standard in testing or grade performance, or ACTUAL performance. "3rd rate" for them is to exaggerate their skills.

It does those people great disservice to put them in programs they are not remotely qualified for. Like putting a 5’7” 260 lb. kid on a varsity basketball team.

Whatever do you mean, blacks and hispanics can’t score as highly on the exams? Could it be that they don´t study as hard, they are not as ambitious, or that they don´t have the mental capacity to achieve as highly? We´ll never know, as we are not allowed to have that conversation.

When will the good Dr. Lifson learn to spell "pubLic"? And why do most posters ignore this blatant misspelling? Makes one think the ´l´ on his computer doesn´t work. This is not the first or even second time this has occurred or I wouldn´t have bothered commenting.

BTW... it was spelled correctly in the original article.

I remember reading a story about sending black students (affirmative action) to very tough, high quality colleges. Most flunked out. The main idea of the article was that most of these students would have probably done okay if they had gone to smaller, less elite colleges. These high school students will fail and fail miserably. Unfortunately to many parents/students see no need for an education. A lot of these parents only see school as a babysitter and a place where their kids can eat free. Like it or not it´s true. I have been in the education business for 30 years. It is a sad mess.

What seems of paramount interest and importance to a dog is the odor of another dog´s rear end. It´s sorta the same with many "elites" who need to sniff nothing more than a person´s post-secondary college attendance before passing judgement.

If you want to find the root cause for the admissions disparity, be honest enough to trace the family history of Asian and minority students back to the day these kids were born.

No more needs to be said.

Today in many inner cities, football and basketball are more valued, desired and have more neighborhood gravitas than physics and biology. Academics is for others, but being an athlete is so much more cool.
Its about life choices. Parent(s) or guardian(s) of these children bear the responsibility and the accountability for the results that we see.
Results will not change until the inner city sub-culture has an epiphany and changes the destructive course it is on.
Until that happens, all though I wish it were not so, I really do not lose sleep over the sub-optimization of the inner city student population.

Memo to Democrats: Mr. Trumka

Well, well, well, what have we here? AFL-CIO boss of bosses Richard Trumka is out and about and doesn´t sound too pleased with the Democrats. He signalled understanding as to why union members voted for President Trump, and now he thinks the Democrats´ Green New Deal stinks. In an appearance with the Economic Club, he answered some questions from the business elites, and his answers were enough to give the entire Democratic Party indigestion. Here´s Vic Reklatis´s report on Marketwatch: “The rules of this economy are designed for the people at the top to do exceptionally well.

Will the Supreme Court Get It Right

Court watchers seem to think that the Supreme Court will end up overturning a lower court ruling and allow the Trump administration to add a citizenship question on the 2020 Census. The New York Times, for example, led its coverage of the arguments on Tuesday by saying: “The Supreme Court’s conservative majority seemed ready on Tuesday to allow the Trump administration to add a question on citizenship to the 2020 census, which critics say would undermine its accuracy by discouraging both legal and unauthorized immigrants from filling out the forms.”

Now that Herman Cain has exited from President Trump´s consideration for a Federal Reserve board seat, the long knives are now out for free market economist Stephen Moore. One media hit job after another is now rolling out against him in the press today, and none of it has to do with economics. The left has made a big deal about Moore´s presence on the Fed board a matter of ´politicizing´ it, but this is what ´politicizing´ really looks like. A newly unearthed tweet shows Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar attacking the U.S. soldiers who fought and died in the Battle of Mogadishu. “In his selective memory, he forgets to also mention the thousands of Somalis killed by the American forces that day! #NotTodaySatan,” Omar wrote in a tweet in October 2017, uncovered Monday by John Rossomando of the Investigative Project on Terrorism. Omar was responding to another tweet about the Battle of Mogadishu, a 1993 humanitarian operation by the U.S. military that sought to save starving Somalis by preventing food and aid from being captured by enemy combatants.

A couple days ago, Mexican troops reportedly came over into U.S. territory near El Paso in an unmarked vehicle on April 13, and disarmed the U.S. soldiers on the U.S. side, sent by President Trump to support U.S. border protection operations. Weirdly, they took the U.S. soldiers´ weapons they´d confiscated, and then placed them into the soldiers´ own vehicles and left. Did they do that pointless exercise to show who was boss in those parts? It´s hard to say. Fifteen months from now, Democrats will nominate their least electable (with the possible exception of Kamala Harris) candidate for U.S. president, who will then go down in flames. This is not just because he´s a Castro-loving nut who traveled to Russia to bond with his fellow commies in the 1980s — voters have short memories and will forgive or ignore history that ancient. And Democrats themselves would not lose sleep over the irony of pitching Crazy Bernie after years of collusion delusion. The specific reasons for Crazy´s pending loss (if he lives that long) are as follows.

Now that the Mueller report is out, Democrats are in a quandary. Unable to admit that they were utterly wrong about sleazy Democratic operative Robbie Mook´s original Trump-colluded-with-the-Russians-to-steal-the-election-from-Hillary Clinton narrative, they´re now scanning every nook and cranny of the Mueller report to find something useful to use to impeach the president on. A very good analysis from the San Francisco Chronicle´s John Wildermuth and Tal Kopan, points to how problematic that is, given that the report had far fewer redactions to holler about than they´d hoped:
