College admissions scandal generated disgust
and outrage. But what exactly was the crime?

Los Angeles Times, by Joel Rubin & Matthew Ormseth

Original Article

The college admissions bribery case has left people fuming. Stories of wealthy, well-connected parents allegedly paying large bribes to buy their kids seats in top-tier universities or high scores on college admission exams have stoked disgust and angry calls for the accused to be punished. But prosecutors cannot bring a case on outrage alone. In filing criminal charges last week against 50 people alleged to have played roles in the wide-ranging scam, the U.S. attorney in Boston embarked on an ambitious and, in some regards, uncertain legal odyssey, legal experts said.

The crime, my two brainless wonders is tax evasion. It is claiming a bribe as a charitable contribution and writing it off on your tax returns. It is in the case of the man who ran the phony scam, setting up a front charity much like the Clinton Foundation to accept money for his own use. The Clintons of course are much more subtle they pay their daughter 600,000 plus perks through their little money laundering scheme. This guy must have thought he was a Clinton to think that the double standard existed for him too. The crime also is mail fraud since there were an awful lot of things that transpired through the mail. There is plenty to work with if the prosecutors don´t get paid off themselves that is.

If it were legal to purchase registration in a college or university, everyone would be doing it. There’s a reason they are not. It is morally reprehensible and legally questionable.

We need to get Mueller involved in this one!

Transferring money related to fraud thru federal regulated financial institutions is a federal crime. Not paying income tax on fraudulently obtained income is a federal crime (remember Al Capone). Of course claiming fraud expenses on your taxes is a federal crime.

Kickbacks are a crime. Someone at the colleges received payment for getting these kids in, however, the college who was paying the salary of this someone was unaware of these payments and not the beneficiary of these payments. It´s the same as stealing from your employer. Also, as other have stated, tax fraud is a crime. This is white color crime and shouldn´t be sugar coated because the perps are wealthy.

As long as our tax dollars are used to subsidize universities we are looking at theft to the tune of grand larceny. Paying tuition for substandard students, foreign students and those who can drop a ball through a hoop is also theft from people who actually qualify to go to school and can not gain entry, a decision that will penalize them for the rest of their lives in lost jobs and income. The purpose of these liberal lunatic asylums is education, not reparations or charity.

Ultimate, this scandal involved a few hundred rich kids cheating to get into college over multiple years.

I keep seeing people crying about how "more qualified students" didn´t get in to those colleges because of these cheaters.

Well, every year, thousands of more qualified students don´t get accepted to good schools because less qualified minority students are given special admissions under the banner of "affirmative action".

Thousands more miss out because colleges want dumb jocks who can run fast carrying a football, or shoot a basketball into a hoop consistently. But at least they give their colleges something back in the form of entertainment. The affirmative action students just take up space and often flunk out.

So if we are going to cry about how "unfair" these rich kids were, we need to open the discussion to the whole concept of any less-qualified student getting admission -- and you know nobody wants to open that can of worms!!!!!

Donald Trump is living in their heads, rent-free. It’s not the main reason we elected him, but it’s certainly a major side benefit — the president’s uncanny ability to troll these sanctimonious trust-funded PC frauds to the point of incoherence, if not insanity. Now he is threatening to flood the Democrats’ “sanctuary” cities with tens of thousands more indigent, indolent, diseased, criminal, nonEnglish-speaking illegal immigrants. As he pointed out Friday at the White House, the Beautiful People in places like California are always lecturing the rest of us about how we must welcome these parasites with “open arms.” So wouldn’t you assume

Washington Last week, federal prosecutors released a 61-page indictment against attorney Michael Avenatti, who allegedly bilked his own clients to bankroll his lavish lifestyle. Last month, federal prosecutors in New York charged him with trying to extort millions from Nike. Avenatti says he is not guilty, and he is entitled to a presumption of innocence on criminal charges. Still, his rise and fall presents an apt moment to ask how such a feral figure was so quickly elevated in the public eye, before what seems to be an inevitable fall. It’s not a long story.

Ecuador blew through nearly a million dollars a year hosting WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange at its embassy in London, officials revealed Saturday. The country shelled out a total of $6.5 million on behalf of Assange, who went into hiding there in August 2012 but was dragged out and arrested on Thursday. The 47-year-old asylum seeker was reportedly abusive toward the embassy staff, ate with his fingers, infrequently bathed or did laundry — and even smeared feces on the walls. Most of that $6.5 million was spent on security, according to the Daily Mail. The rest was used

President Trump’s shrewd governance, along with unforced errors by the Democratic Party, has the president positioned to not only win the White House for a second term but also to win back the House and make gains in the Senate. There are five major factors that will make this a reality: the economy, illegal immigration, socialism, the Mueller report, and the rule of law. Let’s break each of these issues down. It is a well-established fact that Americans vote with their wallets. In 1992, Bill Clinton’s campaign successfully unseated George H. W. Bush in large part due to a contraction

Considering the challenges he overcame and the final preelection polls last Friday, he might well deserve the title.
