Cory Booker blames flooding in
the Midwest on lack of empathy

American Thinker, by Thomas Lifson

Original Article

Senator Cory Booker got his sanctimonious platitudes mixed up yesterday in an on-air interview with Chris Matthews yesterday on MSNBC. The topic was "hate" and the unspoken target beyond obvious, so perhaps secure in the knowledge that there would no probing challenges coming his way from MSDNC, he put his brain on auto-pilot as he activated the synapses, leading to his store of vaguely profound-sounding empty banalities. In an age of anger, the man who carelessly called himself "Spartacus" now poses as a great healer, hoping to distinguish himself from the large and growing field of Democrats seeking the Oval

Why is it surprising when an idiot says another idiotic thing?

Booker is always saying things that are clearly BS, although I suppose to some people, the other stupid things may be more difficult to discern as BS than this obvious stupidness.

The man is not Spartacus but is a Bozo. The flood in Nebraska was caused by a lot of snow melting as has happened every so many years since European immigrants first showed up in Nebraska in the early 1800’s.

Sorry, folks, but Booker is no dummy. He has both a BA and MA from Stanford, a degree from Oxford in England which he obtained under a Rhodes Scholarship, and a law degree from Yale. Both his parents were executives at IBM. Short of it is, Booker is firmly established as part of the elite and views himself as one of our betters. If he was talking jibberish it was because he thought so little of his deplorable, white, Iowa audience that he thought they would just accept it all without question. He was insulting them, and probably laughing up his sleeve at them.

Do not under-estimate this guy Booker. He knew exactly what he was saying.

I had to reread his comment more than once, to see if maybe I missed the part where it made any semblance of an intelligent, cogent point. It doesn’t.

No, Mr. Booker, the floods in Nebraska happened because of a record amount of snowfall, followed by a sudden warm up, combined with heavy rains, thus melting the snow quickly, that left nowhere for the water to go because the ground was still frozen. Thousands of people have lost everything, and many are trapped in their communities because the immense sudden rush of water has washed out highways, streets, roads and bridges. Livestock have to be airlifted out flooded areas; at least the livestock that is still alive.

We are struggling to help each other because that’s what we do. We don’t whine or ask for special treatment. We roll up our sleeves and get to work, just like Nebraskans always do when there is an emergency that most of the world could care less about.

You want to know about empathy, you pathetic, moronic poseur? You come here and roll up your Calvin Kline sleeves, pal.

To listen to some, there has never been flooding in this part of the Midwest. Why then, all the levees?

While I agree that we have been in a vicious weather pattern lately, MMGW is not the cause, and politicians can´t change it.

The peoples of the Midwest, like most of flyover country, will band together and help their neighbors out of this mess, like they´ve always done. Having Booker seize their assets in order to appoint a Flood Czar is foolish at best, criminal at worst.

Sorry to disagree with a previous poster, but all those degrees mean absolutely zero in the real world. Given he was more than likely an AA quota admittance to those schools, his parents probably also benefited under the AA system as well. Given the state of education in this country, the only thing Booker knows how to do well is scam and shine on anyone he needs to to get his own agenda moving.

We know that most professors are leftist, and they are also not going to give any kind of real failing grades to those AA students, even if they deserve it. AOC and her BU econ degree is a prime example. These two would be terrifying if they had the ability to actually put a brain in gear before opening their mouths.

Booker was probably just deflecting having the truth come out. This massive flooding has happened before (2011), destroying homes, businesses, farms and produce, animals. It is caused by the US Corps of Engineers and the EPA. The water is saved for the benefit of lake-residents, then hugely released when rains/snow come. It is unnecessary and evil.

Flooding is all about a lot of rain in a short period of time. Empathy has no effect on this.

I can tell you why California has flooding and water shortage problems. Instead of spending money for reservoirs/retention ponds, they are spending money on a shiny bullet train.

Currently, California has a number of big ditches (E.g., Los Angles river) that are designed to drain water directly to the ocean. But, they are not everywhere. By building reservoirs where they collect rain (and melt-off) surges, flood water can be can be contained for use during dry periods or released at a much slower rate. This is not as flashy as a bullet train, but it would be a much bigger benefit for Californians.

LARGO — John Jonchuck is guilty of first-degree murder, a jury ruled Tuesday, and should spend the rest of his life in prison for dropping his daughter, Phoebe, off a bridge into the chilly, dark waters of Tampa Bay. He was not facing the death penalty. Over more than four weeks, jurors heard a tangled narrative of Jonchuck’s mental history. His public defenders argued that he was insane at the time of the killing, driven by imagined voices and delusions, unaware that what he was doing was wrong. Their case was built on recollections of Jonchuck hearing an old Swedish Bible

President Donald Trump’s proposal to ship immigration detainees to so-called sanctuary cities –which are Democrat strongholds— is a political masterstroke, if the Left’s wounded animal-like howling is any indication. With this politically brilliant tactic, the likes of which would never have come from a President Jeb Bush or a President Mitt Romney, Trump continues to demonstrate that he is one of the few Republican presidents in modern American history who actually knows how to fight the Left. He is giving leftists a well-deserved taste of their own medicine. And what better place to send illegal aliens than to sanctuary jurisdictions?

Steve Cohen, Tennessee Democrat, appeared Monday evening on MSNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews” show to tout his long crusade to impeach Mr. Trump and promptly reached for the fire. “What he has done to the Constitution and the rule of law is as bad as that fire did to Notre Dame. He’s torching the entire structure of government and the people’s respect for it.

During two separate occasions on Monday afternoon, Fox News anchors Shepard Smith and Neil Cavuto had to dump out of interviews after their guests wildly speculated and parroted conspiracy theories that the blaze that suddenly destroyed much of the historic Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris was an intentionally malicious act. While anchoring breaking-news coverage of the fire, Smith interviewed witness Philippe Karsenty, the deputy mayor of Neuilly-sur-Seine and a controversial right-wing media figure. Early in the call, Karsenty suggested that the Notre Dame blaze—which is currently being investigated as an accident—was a terrorist a

Pop icon Cher said Sunday that Los Angeles, California, “can’t take care of its own” residents, much less newly arrived illegal and legal immigrants. Cher said she failed to understand how the city of Los Angeles in the sanctuary state of California could afford to admit and take care of any more immigrants when city officials have failed to care for homeless, veterans, and poverty-stricken Americans.

Democratic Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) is running for president. He’s one of many who are hopping into the 2020 clown car. No, he probably won’t win the nomination. And yes, he would certainly lose against President Donald J. Trump. He’s also running on an issue that is only popular with the most insane of Democrats: gun confiscation. Swalwell has gone off the deep end with his absurd allegations that Donald Trump is an agent of the Kremlin. Yet, he’s been saying it for months. Even with the Mueller report torpedoing Democratic hopes of finding cause to impeach the president, the

Fox anchor Shepard Smith on Monday melted down when a French guest attempted to explain the ongoing attacks, violence and vandalism against French churches. Talking about the fire engulfing Notre Dame, where the cause is unknown, guest Philippe Karsenty began, “For the past years, we´ve had churches desecrated each and every week all over France.” Just seconds after his guest was introduced, Smith immediately jumped in and reprimanded, “Sir, sir, sir, we´re not going to speculate of the cause of something that we don´t know! If you have observations or you know something, we would love to hear it.” After

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio threatened to sue the Trump administration if it sends illegal immigrants to New York City, a “sanctuary city.” “It’s illegal. It is just plain illegal. We will meet him in court. We will beat him in court,” de Blasio said, according to the New York Post. President Trump on Monday tweeted, “Those Illegal Immigrants who can no longer be legally held (Congress must fix the laws and loopholes) will be, subject to Homeland Security, given to Sanctuary Cities and States”: (Tweet) He said on Friday that his administration was giving “strong consideration” to the

After eight years of reckless expansion of the federal workforce under Barack Obama, Donald Trump vowed to downsize the wildly growing bureaucracy of Washington. In 2016, he promised to “cut so much your head will spin.” However, during the first two years of his presidency, there has been no significant effort to reduce the bloated federal payrolls. In fact, the federal government is the largest employer in the nation. Walmart, which has a presence in communities of all shapes and sizes, is the largest private employer in the nation with 1.5 million workers. Yet the number of Americans who rely
