The Bogus Lawsuit against Remington
National Review Online, by Kevin D. Williamson

Original Article

Rule No. 1 of tort law: The bad guy is the one with the most money to pay you. On December 14, 2012, Adam Lanza murdered 26 people, 20 of them schoolchildren ages six and seven. Lanza killed himself, too. Can’t sue him. Lanza had a history of mental illness — a long one. He’d been treated under the New Hampshire “Birth to Three” program and later by the Yale Child Study Center. But it would be hard to make a case against those institutions, which enjoy a great deal more sympathy than gun manufacturers do.

Just present the growing number of Knife attacks in the EU. Whackjob Killers gotta kill. The tool they use, gun, knife or bomb, is not the issue.

Adam Lanza should have been somewhere where Society could have been protected from his madness. We need to concede that some people are a danger to themselves and others and stop releasing them to commit these murderous acts.

The premise of the lawsuit is false.

“ an assault rifle that is suitable for use only by military and law enforcement personnel”

The rifle in question is a single shot rifle. No military or police in the world use single shot rifles. Only full automatic or selective burst fire rifles.

Case closed.

Mueller completely dropped
the ball with obstruction punt

The most remarkable thing about special counsel Robert Mueller’s 448-page report is how blithely the prosecutor reversed the burden of proof on the issue of obstruction. To be sure, President Trump’s conduct outlined on this score isn’t flattering, to put it mildly. For example, the special counsel’s evidence includes indications that the president attempted to induce White House Counsel Don McGahn to fire the special counsel (in June 2017), and then (in January 2018) to deny that the president had made the request. Mueller’s report further suggests that the president dangled pardons.

Washington — Reiterating that special counsel Robert Mueller found no evidence of President Trump´s 2016 campaign colluding with Russia, Attorney General William Barr defended Mr. Trump in a preemptive press conference ahead of the release of Mueller´s report, saying the president faced "an unprecedented situation" throughout the two-year investigation. "As he entered into office, and sought to perform his responsibilities as President, federal agents and prosecutors were scrutinizing his conduct before and after taking office, and the conduct of some of his associates," Barr said at the Thursday morning press conference. Bryson DeChambeau and Adam Scott are two of a number of PGA Tour golfers who have been taking advantage of a change to the Rule of Golf that made it legal to putt with the flagstick in the hole. The change was not met with open arms by many, but Scott — who has struggled mightily with his short game at times — is grateful for it. “I think I got some disapproving murmurs on the first when I had like a 1 ½ footer and I put the flagstick back in,” Scott said last week after opening

There comes a time in every political campaign where Democrats have to explain why they don´t give money to charity. They want you to vote for them so they can spend your money on their whims, but they don´t like parting with their own cash. Their excuses for this hypocrisy are never good, but sometimes they can be revealing. Joseph A. Wulfsohn, Fox News: 2020 presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke was confronted by a voter at a town hall on Tuesday about his charitable giving, after recently released tax returns showed he and his wife

Soon, the dust will settle from special counsel Robert Mueller’s report, and Americans will have a fuller understanding of why prosecutors concluded there wasn’t evidence to establish that Donald Trump and Russia colluded to hijack the 2016 election. At that point, many voters exhausted by the fizzling of a two-year scandal, once billed as the next Watergate, will want to move on like a foodie from an empty-calorie shake. But a very important second phase of this drama is about to begin, as Attorney General William Barr, Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General Michael Horowitz

What began as a serious inquiry into a potential world-historical calamity will on Thursday complete its turn into a combination of one of those really bad Washington conspiracy thrillers from the 1970s and ’80s that only a Communist could love. The release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s redacted report into Russian interference in the 2016 election won’t change the top-line finding of Attorney General William Barr’s four-page summary — namely, that Donald Trump and his campaign didn’t collude or conspire with the Kremlin.

Last week Barack Obama, grayer, wearier and older in every way, was in Berlin at one of his foundation’s conferences for ‘emerging leaders’ in Berlin. After wheeling out a few cringe-inducing platitudes like ‘I don’t have a regular meditation practice’ Obama did say something genuinely interesting about where the Democrats are heading going into 2020. He warned that elements of the party were becoming a ‘circular firing squad’ who targeted those ‘straying from purity’ on a variety of issues. Always a big tent politician (‘There are no red states or blue states, just the United States’),

The crisis of the Democrats is becoming more evident each week. Those of us who have been loudly predicting for years that the Russian-collusion argument would be exposed as a defamatory farce, and that the authors of it would eventually pay for it, are bemused at the fallback position of the Trump-haters: that the distinguished attorney general has whitewashed the president in his summary and his decision that there was no obstruction of justice. One of the most entertaining moments of news-watching in many years came last week, when former national intelligence director James Clapper said it was “scary”

While Christians have long challenged Charles Darwin’s theory of undirected evolution, few appreciate the true extent of the challenge beyond the church. Current estimates are that approximately one-third of professional academic biologists who do not believe in intelligent design find Darwin’s theory is inadequate to describe all of the complexity in biology. Ben Stein documented a crackdown within the academy on criticism of Darwin in his 2008 documentary “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed.” While this might explain why the public rarely hears of challenges to Neo-Darwinism, the documentary centered on intelligent design. But the growing discontent in academia is from secular naturalists.

Washington- If a politician of Japanese extraction were addressing a “largely Japanese-American audience” and characterized the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor as “some people did something,” would you think that those words diminished the loss of life and of property suffered by our country 78 years ago in the Pacific Ocean? I would, but apparently Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) would not. She thinks it is a perfectly respectful — and accurate! — way to refer to the 9/11 attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C. by 19 Muslim terrorists in 2001. She characterized

I wrote here about how Sen. Bernie Sanders called out the Center for American Progress (CAP) for “smearing him” and a couple of other Democratic presidential contenders. Sanders cited ridicule from CAP over the fact that he’s a millionaire. CAP promptly backed down, sort of. Its president, Neera Tanden, disavowed responsibility for the attacks by publications of CAP Action and by CAP’s website ThinkProgress. She said she disagreed with their tone. This is consistent with CAP’s approach all along to Sanders. The New York Times explained: Since Mr. Trump’s victory, Ms. Tanden [the head of CAP] has recast herself

$1 billion raised to rebuild

Nearly 1 billion has already poured in from ordinary worshippers and high-powered magnates around the world to restore the fire-ravaged Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, after the French president set a controversial five-year deadline to get the work done. Construction teams brought in a huge crane and a delivery of planks of wood to the site Wednesday morning. Firefighters are still examining damage and shoring up the structure after Mondays fire collapsed the cathedrals spire and destroyed the roof. French President Emmanuel Macron ratcheted up the pressure by setting a five-year deadline to restore the 12th-century landmark.

The New York Yankees‘ anti-racism efforts have extended to pulling from their seventh-inning stretch a famous recording of the legendary Kate Smith singing “God Bless America.” Not because anyone has complained that the song is racist, but because Smith recorded other racially-insensitive standards from and during the Jim Crow era. The Yankees pulled Smith’s “God Bless America” from the rotation at the start of the season, but the New York Daily News reported the reason Thursday—“the Yankees were made aware of Smith’s history of potential racism.” According to the Daily News, the “potential racism” of which

A detailed report from special counsel Robert S. Mueller III said investigators struggled with both the legal implications of investigating President Trump for possible obstruction of justice and the motives behind a range of his most alarming actions, from seeking the ouster of officials to ordering a memo that would clear his name. [SNIP] “if we had confidence after a thorough investigation of the facts that the President clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state. Based on the facts and the applicable legal standards, we are unable to reach that judgment.”
