Cuba would have to spend nearly $2 billion a year to meet its domestic oil needs if Venezuela’s National Assembly and interim president Juan Guaidó manage to stop deliveries to the Caribbean island. “Cuba’s demand for oil is about 130,000 barrels per day, and Cuba produces about 50,000 barrels per day, which means a deficit of about 80,000 barrels per day,” said Jorge Piñón, director of the Latin American Energy Program at the University of Texas at Austin. Piñón estimates that Cuba has fuel reserves for about 45 days. But the end of deliveries by Venezuela’s PDVSA oil company

Turning Point USA founder and Executive Director Charlie Kirk told Breitbart News that President Donald Trump “recognizes the importance of the culture war” and that when the president sees his supporters — as well as constitutional liberties — under attack, he “has an obligation to have their backs.” Kirk offered his remarks in a Saturday interview on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Matt Boyle. “What the president did this week is so historic,” said Charlie Kirk, “The signing of an executive order that any institution of higher learning that does not protect the First Amendment rights of their students will

Details of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report on his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election — and the possible involvement of members of President Donald Trump’s campaign — were held back for a second day as Department of Justice officials kept the findings a closely guarded secret. Democrats and Republicans alike held their breath and waited for Mueller’s findings, the result of an agonizing 22-month probe that has divided the country and hobbled the president’s first two years in office.

After the 1961 season, Whitey Ford said, "It was a bad year for the Babe" — a reference to two of his records broken in October of that year. Well, no records were broken here, but it was a really bad couple of years for those reporters, and their editors, who decided to break stories based on all those "sources familiar with the investigation."I wonder if any will have the character to step up and say "we messed up badly."I agree with Roger Simon that the media may be suffering the biggest consequences of this investigation: So there you have

President Donald Trump’s two most loyal employees aren’t politicians or fixers or publicity flacks. They’re caddies. He has a regular outdoor caddy—a 60-something ex-Marine named A.J.—who loops for him faithfully at Trump National Golf Club Washington in Northern Virginia. And then he has a kind of indoor caddy—Dan Scavino, Trump’s social media director, and one of the very few staffers who’s remained in Trump’s orbit from the start of the campaign—who actually met Trump caddying for him when he was a teenager. In a way, A.J. and Scavino are the same guy. They’re both mostly unknown,

Former CBS News journalist Lara Logan says the mainstream media is not allowing President Trump to be “normalized” as the nation´s leader and accused CNN, among others, of passing off opinions as fact in a Fox News interview set to air Sunday.“I´ve never seen the press corps behave the way they do today," Logan told host Mark Levin on “Life, Liberty & Levin. "So, it stands out to me because it´s a departure from what I´ve seen throughout the last three decades. There is something actually much more significant about what you´re seeing happen with the White House press corps.” Logan

Politicians are used to seeing cowardice and being cowards. So used to it are they that they cannot even imagine there being another way. Our president has proven to be quite different. He is fearless. He is bold. He acts. He accomplishes. (What he would be accomplishing if those in his party had the courage to support him is hard to conceive.) If one takes a moment to look at his brilliance, it is a truly rare and beautiful thing.First off, the attacks were made to wear him down and wear him out. To make him sue (and compromise) for

The Democrat Party and its persons and policies have been more than a bit off-plumb for decades. But only over the last couple of years have they been moonbat barking mad. (Affirmative action is a policy misdemeanor next to the felony fraud of reparations.) The current D lot makes the George McGoverns and Hubert Humphreys of yesteryear seem like measured statesmen and deep thinkers by comparison. There no longer appears to be an adult in that room. The reinforced platoon of Democrats who’ve announced their intention to run for president in 2020 include a scrum of foul balls,

The college admissions bribery case has left people fuming. Stories of wealthy, well-connected parents allegedly paying large bribes to buy their kids seats in top-tier universities or high scores on college admission exams have stoked disgust and angry calls for the accused to be punished. But prosecutors cannot bring a case on outrage alone. In filing criminal charges last week against 50 people alleged to have played roles in the wide-ranging scam, the U.S. attorney in Boston embarked on an ambitious and, in some regards, uncertain legal odyssey, legal experts said.

Brexit is, at bottom, about self-rule

Amid the shambolic fracas in the British government and Parliament over how and when Brexit should take place, it’s important to step back and remember the why. The United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union is not ultimately about trade or regulations. It´s about something more fundamental: the natural right of people to form and control their government. At its core, Brexit is about democracy and self-rule. Britons wanted their government, parliament, and courts to once again be the final authorities in the land. The flow of power out of Britain and into Brussels isn’t some theoretical concern.

Robert Mueller is closing up shop. He has delivered his report to Attorney General Barr. No more indictments will be secured by his office: CNN hardest hit. What have we learned? Paul comments cautiously here. I throw caution out the window to make these provisional observations and comments. Mueller has secured the indictment of 34 individuals (and three companies). A few of the individuals would have rolled merrily along but for their association with the Trump 2016 presidential campaign or their service in the Trump administration. The lion’s share of those indicted are Russians who are alleged

Now that special counsel Robert Mueller has completed his investigation, it is tempting to breathe a sigh of relief and assume that our long national nightmare is over. Resist the temptation, the assumption is false. We are not close to the end. Not by a long shot. In fact, I believe the last two years, as traumatic as they were, will prove to be the easier part of the nightmare, because Mueller dealt only with whether Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign conspired with Russia to swing the election. Based on what we know so far, especially that no more indictments are coming,

NEW YORK -- Breaking news: Donald J. Trump won the presidency, fair and square. He does not occupy the Oval Office due to an elaborate plot involving the KGB, the Kremlin, Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin, or the ghosts of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg. Instead, he won the old-fashioned way: He followed the rules and out-foxed and out-worked Democratic Party nominee Hillary Clinton. Hillary, in turn, appeared at only 63 rallies in the final 99 days of the 2016 general-election campaign (versus 132 for Trump), as Gateway Pundit’s Joe Hoft calculated. She addressed, on average, 1,734 people at each

Speaking with California Congressman Eric “nuke the gun owners” Swalwell (D) on the phone, Todd pressed him on Trump’s form of testimony: This report was concluded without interviewing the President of

WASHINGTON — Attorney General William Barr spent Saturday reviewing the special counsel’s confidential report on the Trump-Russia investigation, but Barr’s “principal conclusions” summary for Congress was not coming for at least another day. No summary for Judiciary Committee leaders — or the public — just yet, said a senior Justice Department official, speaking only on condition of anonymity because the person wasn’t authorized to publicly discuss the review process. Barr has said he expected to send his version to the lawmakers as soon as this weekend after determining what should be made public.

According to most media reporting AG William Barr is meeting with Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein today and reviewing the completed Mueller report. At the end of this review, according to statute, AG Barr will commission a “Principle Conclusion” summary report that he will deliver to congress.(Snip) it is likely the White House will be given the Principle Conclusion Summary around the same time as congress. The White House (executive branch) may also be able to review the full underlying documentation behind the summary…. that’s likely where the political fight for the ‘narrative’ will take place.
