Meet Usha Vance, America's Second Lady

Original Article

"Why is no one talking about Usha Vance being the first Indian American and the first Hindu to serve as the Second Lady of the United States?!" an X user named Ashtronaut Girl posted on the platform recently. I'd venture to guess that the right isn't talking about it because most of us could care less what groups someone belongs to and see everyone as an individual. I'd also venture to guess that the left isn't talking about it because they are obsessed with group identity and can't stand the fact that the GOP has become increasingly diverse in recent years.

I watched the Vances interact before the start of the prayer service on Tuesday, after the inauguration. I was mesmerized by their body language and absolute mutual adoration. Real. And very special. They are blessed.

Once the dust settles a bit more she will most certainly come into her own. I forget who advised JD to marry her, but it was the best advice he could have received.

Anyone know where J.D. and Usha lived in New Haven when they met and were attending law school at Yale? I lived in New Haven for a few years when I was young right near Yale and I was just wondering?

The U.S. has won a major concession in the Panama Canal, the State Department announced on Wednesday night. Secretary of State Marco Rubio successfully negotiated a new deal with the nation of Panama that would grant the U.S. the right to pass through the waterway without being charged fees. The move, State said, will save the U.S. government millions of dollars a year. Saving millions a year may seem like a drop in the bucket compared to other government expenses - like buying subscriptions to Politico PRO - but it is a major symbolic win as the Panama Canal was a central part

On Wednesday, National Girls and Women in Sports Day, President Donald Trump signed an executive order barring men from women’s sports through Title IX, withholding funding from universities that insist on allowing male athletes to encroach on women’s competition. The order will also empower women who are forced to compete against men to sue their schools and directs the Department of Homeland Security to deny visa applications from foreign athletes who identify themselves as the opposite sex in order to compete in the U.S. At the signing ceremony, Trump specifically cited the importance of protecting female athletes at the upcoming 2028 Olympics

Alphabet's Google is scrapping its goal to hire more employees from historically underrepresented groups and is reviewing some of its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday. With this, Google joins a slew of U.S. businesses that have been scaling back their diversity initiatives, years after pushing for more inclusive policies in the wake of protests against the police killings of George Floyd and other Black Americans in 2020. The company did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. Alphabet's annual filing with the U.S. SEC on Wednesday showed it omitted a line saying it was "committed

A group of Morgan Stanley-led banks is selling $5.5 billion of debt tied to Elon Musk’s social-media platform X after receiving stronger-than-expected demand from investors, according to people with knowledge of the matter. The banks initially planned to sell about $3 billion worth of the loan but received enough interest to parcel out additional debt. They are now selling the entire remaining slug of the highest-ranking borrowings used to fund Musk’s buyout of the platform formerly known as Twitter Inc., marking a significant milestone in their effort to free their balance sheet from the X exposure. The loan is being priced at 97 cents on the dollar

As we reported earlier, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) made it clear the left was going to be ramping up their protests in the streets against President Donald Trump. Their claims are truly unhinged — because special government employees, Elon Musk and his DOGE team, are operating as part of the Executive Office of the President to review government expenditures. Yet Democrats have been leveling all kinds of crazy accusations against Trump and Musk, especially since Musk has been looking into the hornet's nest that is USAID. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) even accused Musk of "raiding the government, attempting to steal taxpayer money" from the Treasury Department.

We are living at a truly momentous time in history. Donald Trump illustrated that yet again on Tuesday evening during his press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “You have to learn from history,” Trump declared and proceeded to upend the political order that has prevailed in the Middle East for decades. It is a multiply failed order and new approaches are very, very long overdue, but no one has dared to question it and suggest new solutions. Until now. The most momentous announcement of this most momentous of press conferences was Trump’s declaration that Hamas would not be permitted to regain control of Gaza and that, in fact,

Black History Month has been a regular feature of life at Air Force bases around the world for decades. No longer. A directive from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, headlined "Identity Months Dead at DoD," wipes Black History Month and similar celebrations off the military calendar — starting immediately. "Our unity and purpose are instrumental to meeting the Department's warfighting mission. Efforts to divide the force — to put one group ahead of another — erode camaraderie and threaten mission execution,” Hegseth said in the directive, formally known as a "guidance." “Going forward, DoD Components and Military Departments will not use official resources, to include man-hours, to host celebrations or events

Many have wondered why the surge of protests against President Donald Trump and his administration has been scattered and, compared to the usual vitriol, a tad muted. My suspicion is that thanks to Kamala Harris' campaign excesses and the lawfare, the coffers and foot soldiers were depleted. Apparently, someone <*cough... George Soros...cough*> injected an infusion of cash to fund astroturf protests on Wednesday across the 50 United States capitals. The 50501 Movement—or 50 states, 50 protests, one day—is garnering support throughout social media over its plan to stage demonstrations across the nation to "fight Fascism" on February 5.

Philosopher Eric Hoffer once wrote, “Nothing is so unsettling to a social order as the presence of a mass of scribes without suitable employment and an acknowledged status.” As President Trump, Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency get on with their business of trimming waste, fraud, abuse and graft from the federal budget — a business that is vitally important, given the government’s parlous financial outlook — they need to keep this in mind. Less than two weeks in, DOGE teams poring over federal spending records are discovering all sorts of problems. “Career Treasury officials are breaking the law every hour of every day by approving payments that are fraudulent

President Donald Trump unveiled an executive order reinstating a "maximum pressure" campaign against Iran on Tuesday, coinciding with a visit from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House. Trump voiced that he was "torn" about signing the order and admitted he was "unhappy to do it," noting that the executive order was very tough on Iran. "Hopefully, we're not going to have to use it very much," Trump told reporters Tuesday. Trump later told reporters in a joint press conference with Netanyahu that he believes Iran is "close" to developing a nuclear weapon, but that the U.S. would stop a "strong" Tehran from obtaining one.

It's "be mean to Republicans." But not just any kind of mean, dear reader. CBS is talking about being "Regina George" mean. You know, the villain from "Mean Girls." AOC's comments were part of a 90-minute-long conversation with fans on Instagram. What really launched New York's most prominent socialist into a flurry of dizzying projection are Musk's ongoing efforts to clean up an out-of-control bureaucracy through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) team. WASHINGTON — President Trump proposed a US takeover of the Gaza Strip Tuesday night — shortly after suggesting removing “all” Palestinians living there. “The US will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too,” Trump said at a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site, level the site, and get rid of the destroyed buildings — level it out and create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area.” (Photo)

What the hell did I watch? If anything, the anti-Elon Musk rally last night proved two things: Trump derangement syndrome has been replaced by Elon Musk derangement syndrome. Second, the Democratic Party has no idea how to win elections. The reports of a rudderless, leaderless, and divided organization were confirmed last night. It also showed that they have no message other than ‘me no like this Trump administration,’ of which Elon Musk is a top agent of the president. His Department of Government Efficiency is wiping the table clean, exposing waste and fraud, and getting these lazy DC government workers to quit.

NEW YORK— Thinking about backyard chickens as egg prices soar? Think hard, especially in light of the bird flu outbreak. Keeping home chickens as a pastime has continued to grow since the pandemic. Costs might go well beyond the nationwide average of $4.15 a dozen that commercial eggs sold for in December. “Anyone who’s done an ounce of research will very quickly understand that there are no free eggs, there are no inexpensive eggs in keeping chickens,” said Kathy Shea Mormino, a home chicken blogger and author who
