It looks like the mob has asserted control over Columbia University, SS style. The Columbia Spectator reports on the suspensions issued for for participation in Wednesday’s “Gaza Solidarity Encampment.” One of Ilhan Omar’s daughters (Isra Hirsi) is among the suspended students. The rotten apple doesn’t fall far from the rotten tree.
The Spectator quotes Columbia undergrad Maryam Alwan, another one of the suspended students. Alwan told the Spectator that she received a letter informing her of her interim suspension from the Center for Student Success and Intervention [!]. “I think all of these administrators need to get a grip and listen to their students and watch the news

The Senate passed a controversial extension of the federal government’s warrantless spying powers just after a midnight deadline on Friday over objections from Democrats and Republicans who opposed the incidental collection of US citizens’ data as part of the authority.
In a 60-34 vote, Democrats and Republicans voted to reauthorize Title VII of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) until 2026, sending the legislation to President Biden’s desk for a signature. The White House issued a statement in strong support of the legislation, called the Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act, before it passed the House last week in a 273-147 bipartisan vote.

Workers at a Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, voted overwhelmingly to join the United Auto Workers, becoming the first Southern autoworkers outside of the Big Three to do so in a region long resistant to unionization, the labor group announced late Friday.
The UAW declared victory as votes continued to be tallied, with its unofficial count at 2,628 for joining the union and 985 opposed, or 73% to 27%.
"Volkswagen thanks its Chattanooga workers for voting in this election," the company said in a statement acknowledging that workers had voted in favor of union representation. "We will await certification

Just one day after Israel made good on its promise to strike back at Iran for its drone and missile attacks against Israel on Monday, with bombing inside Iran, Iraq (Baghdad and Babil), and Syria, there are reports of new bombing in Iraq on Friday. Social media has been flooded with video of the attacks, thought to be focused on Iran-affiliated militia groups. One video claims that eight were killed in the airstrikes. Note: Because of the breaking nature of the story, it's not possible to verify the sources. This is a breaking story. RedState will provide further updates as they become

Earlier this month a Harvard Law School professor named Randall Kennedy called for the end of mandatory DEI statements, saying they made him "wince" and that they discredited the current "DEI regime."
Candidates for academic positions at Harvard should not be asked to support ideological commitments. Imagine the howl of protest that would (or should) erupt if a school at Harvard asked a candidate for a faculty position to submit a statement of their orientation towards capitalism, or patriotism, or Making America Great Again with a clear expectation of allegiance? Such pressure constitutes an encroachment upon the intellectual freedom that ought to be part of the enjoyment of academic life...

An investigation is underway by the Federal Aviation Administration and United Airlines after a member of the Colorado Rockies’ traveling party was allegedly seen on video sitting in the captain’s chair in the plane’s cockpit during the team’s flight on April 10, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The Rockies were en route to Toronto on a charter flight operated by United when the video was taken, according to the report. Following the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, federal regulations tightened around who is allowed to be on the flight deck, and United’s own flight operations manual requires the cockpit door to remain closed the way it would be

Israel carried out a drone and missile strike inside Iran Thursday night in retaliation for the massive strike on Israel Saturday. Israel targeted facilities around Isfahan in central Iran, where Iranian nuclear facilities are located. The primary target seems to have been air defense systems around the Khatami Air Base near Isfahan. This is one of the bases from which last weekend's attack on Israel was launched. According to reports, the US was given notice of the attack at only the last minute.
Speaking at the end of a meeting of the Group of Seven nations in Capri, Italy, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said

Israel downplayed reported airstrikes against Iran that appeared to hit targets near that country’s suspected nuclear program on Friday, seeming to cast the operation as proof Israel could reach the sites, rather than a full-scale attack.
As Breitbart News noted, there were media reports that Israeli drones, or missiles, had hit targets near Isfahan, Iran — close to the Natanz nuclear facility — as well as targets in Syria and Iraq. Israel’s Army Radio repeated these reports. damage might have been, and one Israeli lawmaker — national security minister Itamar Ben Gvir — posted dismissively on Twitter/X that the attack had been a “scarecrow,” or “lame.”

National Public Radio CEO Katherine Maher has been thoroughly exposed as a radical in recent days as one of NPR’s veteran editors—Uri Berliner—actually told the truth and revealed that the taxpayer-sponsored “news organization” is hopelessly biased toward the progressive viewpoint. For this transgression, he was promptly suspended; he said thank you but take a hike, I’m resigning.
The highly publicized back-and-forth led inquiring minds to take a closer look at Maher’s past, and what they found out is that she’s a radical extremist who thinks the leftist narrative is more important than the actual truth and that those who don’t stick to said narrative

The Biden administration on Friday released its long-anticipated rewrite of Title IX, but left out any mention of transgender-identifying male athletes in women’s sports.
The Biden administration’s draft proposal included a radical revision that would have forced forced federally funded educational institutions to allow men to compete on their women’s sports teams unless they demonstrate it compromises student safety. Under that rule, the burden of proof would have been shifted to schools, which in effect would have to create separate policies for every sport.

As RedState reported on Thursday, NYPD officers finally moved in to shut down a pro-Hamas "encampment" at Columbia University. The supposed protesters had been chanting offering outright support to the terrorist group while illegally occupying the area, including giving "honor" to "all the martyrs." Now we are starting to get more details and pictures of what transpired along with reactions, and it's safe to say the hysterical crying has begun. Videos shared by my colleague Jeff Charles earlier showed police clashing with protesters and things turning violent. Numerous arrests were made while others were suspended

The evil that is now running rampant across our country is ostensibly directed at Israel, but Israel is only the pretext, a target of convenience. We have seen in recent months that “anti-Zionism” is merely a cover for anti-Semitism. If Israel disappeared tomorrow, the anti-Semites here, in Western Europe and elsewhere, wouldn’t miss a beat.
But it doesn’t stop there. In Iranian and al Qaeda ideology, Israel is only the Little Satan. America is the Great Satan. So, what would happen if someone brought an American flag to an anti-Israel demonstration? A few brave souls tried it: The al Qaeda and Iranian dogma that America is the Great Satan
