The University of Florida has eliminated all positions affiliated with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).
The move, laid bare in a leaked administrative memo, serves as the latest in the state's mission to nix DEI initiatives from public institutions.
University Director of Public Affairs Cynthia Roldan confirmed the cut consisted of 13 full-time positions, as well 15 administrative appointments - 28 in total. It also marks an end to the school's office devoted to diversity, opened just six years ago. The next year, Republican Ron DeSantis would become governor, and has since passed a litany of laws

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), one of the most moderate Republicans in the United Sates Senate, is endorsing former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC) for president, as Haley continues with her quixotic campaign against former President Donald Trump.
Murkowski’s endorsement came in a press release on Friday from Haley’s team, in which the senator announced, “I’m proud to endorse Gov. Nikki Haley.” “America needs someone with the right values, vigor, and judgment to serve as our next President—and in this race, there is no one better than her,” Murkowski added. “Nikki will be a strong leader and uphold the ideals of the Republican Party while serving as a President for all Americans.”

Nobody “Walked Toward the Fire” more than Andrew Breitbart. He left us 12 years ago today, but he left us with a spirit to fight for a country in which he so strongly believed.
This video, with footage from the documentary Hating Breitbart along with an original song “Walk Toward the Fire” written by Nashville Hall of Famer Jeffrey Steele and Breitbart’s Jon Kahn, puts on full display the passion, humor, and fight of the original Happy Warrior.

Republican Steve Garvey is polling ahead of the Democrats in the running for California’s Senate seat, now in a “statistical tie” with front-runner Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA).
With the Super Tuesday primaries next week, the University of California, Berkeley, Institute of Governmental Studies released a final poll showing Garvey with support from 27% of likely voters, followed by Schiff at 25%. Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA), who has been competing with Garvey for second place in recent weeks, fell to third in the new poll unveiled Friday. Porter earned 19%, and Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) trailed the three contenders with 8%.

For years, Hunter Biden and his associates have denied that the “big guy” mentioned in an email about one of the first son’s shady deals was Joe Biden, yet now Hunter’s admitted it in a congressional deposition — amid whining and crying about the political persecution he’s experiencing. Yes, he’s tried to wave it away, claiming that the email from business partner James Gilliar proposing a 10% stake for Joe was merely a “pie-in-the-sky idea.” Yes, he’s offered the lame defense that if only he had known, “I would have picked up the phone and said, ‘You’re out of your mind.’”

There are all kinds of phrases and jargon that are particular to Congress and legislative procedure, so much so that sometimes it sounds like the folks on Capitol Hill are speaking a different language. But at least one term is pretty clear on its face: “poison pill.” As it relates to Congress, a poison pill is a detail contained in a bill that makes the entirety of the legislation unpalatable. Sometimes they are obvious, and sometimes they must be rooted out, but if we care about the direction of this country, we must always make the effort to find them.

An appeals court in Washington unanimously ruled that a Jan. 6 defendant’s sentence was improperly enhanced, a move that could impact numerous other Jan. 6 cases.
On Friday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit ruled that Larry Brock, who was convicted for a range of crimes related to Jann. 6, improperly had additional charges of “interference with the administration of justice.” The judge who wrote the court’s opinion wrote that the charge doesn’t apply to a sentencing enhancement, however, and struck it down.
“Brock challenges both the district court’s interpretation of Section 1512(c)(2)’s elements and the sufficiency of the evidence to support that conviction,” wrote the judge, Patricia Millett.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is no longer recommending Americans stay home from work or school for five days after testing positive for COVID-19, a major shift in policy that comes as much of the country has moved on from the height of the pandemic.
The new guidance aligns COVID recommendations with other respiratory viral illnesses such as flu and RSV. The simplified guidance recommends that even if they don’t know what virus is causing the illness, people should stay home when they are sick and symptomatic and resume normal activities if their symptoms have been improving and they are fever-free for at least 24

Boeing is in talks to buy its struggling former subsidiary Spirit AeroSystems, as both companies try to solve persistent quality problems and contain costs related to 737 MAX production, an industry source familiar with the matter said on Friday.
A merger would bring Spirit back under the umbrella of Boeing, which spun it off in 2005 and in recent years has struggled with cost pressures and problems that have slowed aircraft deliveries and thinned its balance sheet. Spirit has hired bankers to explore strategic options and has had preliminary discussions with Boeing, the Journal reported earlier on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter. Boeing and Spirit declined to comment.

For the men of Thursday’s late night comedy shows, if the “MAGA justices” on the Supreme Court hand Donald Trump a victory by announcing they will hear arguments on his claim to have presidential immunity, it is “terrible news for democracy” because, for them, only when a court rules against Trump is it legitimate. The Court actually agreed to hear the case on an expedited basis, but CBS’s Stephen Colbert declared on The Late Show that “it gets worse because the oral arguments are in April, but Court watchers don't expect a decision until June, and the trial judge has

It's no secret that Google Gemini has a racism problem. And a political bias. And an agenda to distort reality.
But the rot goes so deep that Google has programmed Gemini to tell flat-out lies. To slander people. If Gemini can't outright erase or ideologically spin something, it simply invents things to make the world fit Google's ideological goals.
I have written about some of these problems already, but I haven't done a deep dive into the AI because others are doing it for me and you.

I understood from the Star Tribune headline over the AP story yesterday that the IDF had massacred some 100 Gazans seeking food and water. As of this morning, the AP is sticking with the story with a Rafah dateline. It leads with this observation: “Israeli troops fired on a crowd of Palestinians racing to pull food off an aid convoy in Gaza City on Thursday, witnesses said.”
I’m not sure about the massacre. Deep into the story we hear from the ever reliable “Gaza Health Ministry.” The AP reports: “At least 112 people were killed, Gaza Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra said. The ministry described it as a ‘massacre’

Andrew Breitbart, conservative raconteur, tea party icon and political hell-raiser, passed away on March 1st, 2012, a dozen years ago today. When I think back I don’t really care why he died, or how he died—I only care that he died, that his voice was silenced, and his death left me with a curiously hollow feeling, a nagging emptiness in the pit of my stomach. That he was never replaced in the political landscape was neither shocking nor unexpected, because Andrew Breitbart was unique.
My sorrow over the loss of this young man was and is deep, and when I found myself with a few

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called a rare midweek press conference on Thursday to emphasize that Israel would continue to fight in Gaza, and defend its interests in spite of international pressure to end the war.
Netanyahu spoke in the wake of a stampede in northern Gaza in which dozens of Palestinians were killed as they mobbed humanitarian aid trucks before dawn Wednesday morning. During the chaos, which reportedly occurred in several waves, Israeli soldiers were charged by civilians and opened fire when the crowd ignored warning shots. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said its soldiers were responsible for no more than ten of the deaths in the incident.
