New York Attorney General Letitia James, who ran for office vowing to take down former President Donald Trump, has been gloating on X about the $354.8 million fine imposed on him since she won against him in a county court two weeks ago.
Trump is planning to appeal the judgment in the civil fraud case, which accused him of inflating his net worth to get favorable bank loans, which he paid back.
However, Trump must first pay the $354.8 million fine ordered by Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron before he can appeal. He is also being charged interest that is expected to reach $100 million. James has been posting

The parade of people who are openly discussing the physical and mental decline of the nation's oldest-ever president continues to grow. And those voices are not all coming from the Fox News Channel or other conservative outlets. This week their ranks were joined by two former aides to President Barack Obama who worked directly with Joe Biden when he was the veep. Appearing on the "Pod Save America" podcast, Jon Favreau, Obama's chief speechwriter, expressed concern and exasperation over Biden's recent appearances. Favreau called Biden's age "a very real issue." He referred to him as "frail" and "mumbly" while also referencing the way Biden "shuffles" around and is unsteady

Donald Trump handily defeated Nikki Haley in Michigan’s GOP primary on Tuesday, marking the former South Carolina governor’s sixth consecutive loss to the former president.
By the time the Associated Press called the race at 9 p.m. eastern time, Trump had received 65 percent of the vote and Haley had garnered 30 percent. Only 2 percent of Michigan primary voters had cast “uncommitted” ballots.
Just 16 of the state’s 55 Republican delegates will be awarded based on the result of the primary, while the rest will be allocated based on caucuses that will be held at a nominating convention on Saturday. The state’s hybrid nominating contest is the

President Biden was projected to win the Michigan Democratic primary, according to Decision Desk HQ, scoring a critical win in the battleground state.
Biden won Michigan back in 2020, but has seen recent pushback from progressives and Arab Americans in the state over his administration’s actions amid the Israel-Hamas war. An option on the ballot for voters to pick “uncommitted” had so far garnered more than 20,000 votes, far exceeding the relatively modest goal of 10,000 votes that the organizers of the campaign had set for themselves. The organizers of the “Listen to Michigan” campaign, backed by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), urged voters to select the “uncommitted” option

Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) in an interview with CNN anchor Erin Burnett on Monday referred to the murder of University of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley by an illegal immigrant as "one instance" and that it "shouldn't shape our overall immigration policy."
"I think whenever were dealing with violent crime, there is a sense of outrage, of sadness and loss," Porter said. "But I think the important thing to focus on is any one instance shouldn't shape our overall immigration policy."
"So we have all different kinds of chaos and challenges from not having enough immigration judges to not investing in technology that can help a screen for fentanyl

WHITEWATER, Wis.—The migrants began to trickle into Whitewater, a sleepy town of 15,000 an hour west of Milwaukee, toward the end of 2021.
Prior to their arrival, local news and political debates generally revolved around school fundraisers or the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's D3 athletics. Today, residents are focused on their 1,000 new neighbors, who mostly hail from Nicaragua and Venezuela and largely keep to the shadows because they lack official identification. Locals say the real number of migrants in the town could easily be double the number reflected in the police department's official statistics.

Apple is abandoning its decade-long effort to build an electric car in favor of ramping up efforts on its generative AI projects, according to a report.
Apple announced the plans internally on Tuesday, sources told Bloomberg, rattling its nearly 2,000 staffers working on the self-driving vehicle, which was initially intended to launch sometime in 2026.
The decision was shared by Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams and Kevin Lynch, a vice president overseeing the effort, the people told Bloomberg, asking not to be identified when discussing private matters. The two Apple executives told staffers that as the Cupertino, Calif.-based company winds down the team working on the car

If millions of immigration-enforcement encounters are a statistic, the murder, by blunt force trauma to the head, of one American young woman is a tragedy. Negligent enforcement policies set by the Biden administration, indulgent “sanctuary” given to lawbreakers by our cities, and abusive appropriation of taxpayer resources to aid aliens in their lawbreaking all likely contributed to the killing of Laken Riley, a 22-year-old Georgia nursing student. Her death is the result of United States policy enabling a criminally minded man who came here to press a bogus asylum claim.

House Republicans are subpoenaing the Justice Department for records from special counsel Robert Hur’s interview with President Joe Biden, conducted during Hur’s investigation of the president’s retention of classified documents.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R. Ky) and House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R., Ohio) subpoenaed the Justice Department Tuesday afternoon for interview transcripts, audio, notes and video files from Hur’s interview of President Biden.
“The Committees further seek to understand whether the White House or President Biden’s personal attorneys placed any limitations or scoping restrictions during the interviews with Special Counsel Hur or Mr. Mark Zwonitzer precluding or addressing any potential statements directly linking

The American people believe immigration is now the most important issue facing the country, according to a new Gallup poll which marks the first time since 2019 that respondents have identified immigration at their most pressing concern.
The survey, conducted from February 1-20, found that 28 percent of Americans believe immigration is the most important problem facing the country, an eight-point increase from the month prior. Government came in second behind immigration, with 20 percent of respondents agreeing that it is the most important problem facing the U.S. The economy and inflation trail immigration and government at 12 and 11 percent respectively.

Israeli and Hamas officials have downplayed hopes expressed by Joe Biden that a ceasefire in the war in Gaza is imminent, raising questions about whether a temporary truce can be implemented before the Muslim holy month of Ramadan begins in two weeks’ time.
Basem Naim, the head of Hamas’s political division in Gaza, said over WhatsApp on Tuesday that the Palestinian Islamist movement had not yet formally received a new proposal for a ceasefire since last week’s indirect talks in Paris mediated by the US, Egypt and Qatar.
The US leader’s remarks late on Monday that a temporary truce could be implemented as soon as 4 March were “premature” and did

The co-chair of Harvard’s antisemitism task force resigned Monday, reportedly because she did not have confidence that the university would implement any of the committee’s recommendations on ending Jew-hatred at the nation’s top university.
The Harvard Crimson reported:
Harvard Business School professor Raffaella Sadun resigned from the presidential task force on antisemitism, according to a source familiar with the situation.
Interim Harvard President Alan M. Garber ’76 appointed Sadun in January to lead the task force as a co-chair last month. Her decision to resign was confirmed in statements from Sadun and Garber on Sunday.
