A new year is upon us, but instead of allowing America to enter it in peace, Joe Biden decided to make one final appearance to remind us all how terrible the last one was. Appearing with Ryan Seacrest, who was doing the live program for ABC News from Times Square, Biden's brain quickly turned to mush under the most basic questioning. At one point, he was asked what his favorite memories and highlights of 2023 were, which prompted him to talk about how jobs were shipped overseas.

Sunday, on CBS's "Face the Nation," Johnson's blatant hypocrisy and mind-blowing lack of self-awareness were on full display — in all of their magnificent idiocy.
At issue was Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott's continuing transport of illegal aliens to the Windy City. Johnson told host Margaret Brennan that Abbott was “determined to continue to sow seeds of chaos” by shipping illegals to his city.

Presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis has announced his intent to pardon Donald Trump should he be convicted on any of the dozens of charges he faces.
The Florida Governor made the declaration Friday when confronted by a reporter in Jasper County. DeSantis told NBC News he had 'already [promised a Trump pardon] long ago.'
He then compared the situation to the one seen nearly a half-century ago between Richard Nixon and replacement Gerald Ford - who pardoned his predecessor in 1974 for crimes he may have committed to serve the country’s best interests.

I wish you all a happy and healthy New Year even though, as 2023 draws to a close, it seems that “the whole world is festering in unhappy souls,” to quote the brilliant Tom Lehrer. I know at times it seems unlikely that 2024 will be better than this one has been, but there are some reasons for optimism. I credit independent journalism, Elon Musk with his fight for free speech on the internet, and the truism that eventually reality bites for my belief that the West may be wising up to the toxic mix of Islamism, traditional anti-Semitism, and Communism.

They're running out of options as to how they can deal with Trump. Both the Colorado Supreme Court and the Maine Secretary of State have rendered decisions to boot Trump from the primary ballot. But they stayed or suspended the removal pending appeal/judicial review of their actions. So Trump remains on the ballot.

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley flubbed the name of a local college basketball star in Iowa on Saturday, in another embarrassing gaffe on the campaign trail.
Speaking at the Iowa Athletic Club in Coralville, Haley accidentally referred to Iowa Hawkeyes superstar Caitlin Clark as 'Kaitlan Collins', the name of the rising-star CNN anchor.
'We're excited to see the Lady Hawkeyes team. What a great coach they have. Kaitlan Collins is phenomenal,' said Haley, drawing confused looks from several members of the crowd.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed his nation on Saturday, telling them that the war against Hamas would continue for “many months,” until all of Israel’s goals had been met, including the destruction of Hamas and the return of the hostages.
