According to the book of Deuteronomy, the Israelites and their descendants are the chosen people. As it states: For you are a people holy to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, out of all the peoples that are on the face of the earth. But it doesn’t say what they are chosen for. Did God choose them for a mission on Earth? Israelites, and their descendants the Jews, have a history of tremendous suffering dating back almost 4,000 years. Their suffering as a people far surpasses anything experienced by current members of
