According to the book of Deuteronomy, the Israelites and their descendants are the chosen people. As it states:
For you are a people holy to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, out of all the peoples that are on the face of the earth.
But it doesn’t say what they are chosen for. Did God choose them for a mission on Earth?
Israelites, and their descendants the Jews, have a history of tremendous suffering dating back almost 4,000 years. Their suffering as a people far surpasses anything experienced by current members of

Very interesting read.
I might offer a couple of answers for the author: “ But it doesn’t say what they are chosen for. Did God choose them for a mission on Earth?”
Through the Jewish people, God has given us His Word, and provided a Savior (via the line of David.). The Jews were chosen to be a blessing for all of mankind.

I believe that Romans and Revelation give us some indication of what HIS plan is for HIS oracle people.

"But it doesn’t say what they are chosen for. Did God choose them for a mission on Earth?"
The Bible says why the Jews were chosen. First, (Deuteronomy 7:6, Deut. 14:2, Deut. 10:15) - "For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be His people, His treasured possession. He also called them royal priests, a holy nation." (Exodus 19:6) And, "The Lord will establish you as His holy people, as He promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the Lord your God and walk in obedience to Him."(Deut. 28:9) They are "the people He formed for Himself, That they might tell the rest of the world of His praise". (Isaiah 43:21) They were the least among all the peoples of the world, but God loved Abraham and made them His family. (Deut. 7:7) He revealed Himself to them. Through their relationship with Him, the world was to see the blessings for serving and obeying the law of God. Their good and bad experiences with Him are an example for us to see what happens to those who walk in obedience with or in rebellion against God.
Second, they were chosen to be the genetic family of the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ. He came through the supernatural impregnation of a virgin Jewish girl. He lived a perfect, sinless life fulfilling all of God's law. Then, He died for the sins of the world, (John 3:16) redeeming and saving all those who accept His sacrifice from the presence, power and punishment of sin and eternal separation from God. The whole world has been blessed by Jesus Christ, the Jew, seed of Adam (Genesis 3:15), Abraham (Genesis 22:18) and King David (Luke 18:38).
New Testament Christ-followers are grafted and adopted into the grace and family of God. He says the same expectations of them: "...for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for He called you out of the darkness into His wonderful light. " (1 Peter 2:9-10)
The author was correct about one thing: evil is not relative. It is absolute. There is an oft-overlooked spiritual/unseen element to everything that happens on this earth. And NOTHING happens apart from a human being making a choice (for good or evil) then following through on that choice with action. Choices were made for good and for evil in this conflict. If the work permits Israel generously issued to the Palestinians were an enabling factor, then their vicious attacks on babies and children, the brutality, rapes of women and attacks on the disabled and elderly are difficult to justify or defend.
Morality is a God-construct. Moral law is needed by humanity to maintain order. God is clear: He sets the rules, lays before us life or death; a blessing or a curse and gives us freedom to choose between the two. (Deut. 30:19, Jeremiah 21:8) It is important for us to recognize what God has said in His Word is good and true then, align our moral choices / actions accordingly.

#4, Excellent! God is sovereign and this is His world, His plan, and He will see it through.
As the Bible says in Isaiah 55, verses 8, 9:
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

If WE read our Bible it talks about the evil one coming that is a charismatic leader...with the gift of communication to pull the wool over the peoples' eyes...I think obama is that evil one...

#5, I think I can dimly see one of God's thoughts.
He gave us Free Will. Unlike the angels, who must follow God's laws, human are allowed to freely choose between good and evil.
God wants us to make the choice to do good on our own, to become people who follow his laws because we love Him and WANT to do good. All our history is an illustration of what happened when we make the right choices and when we make the wrong ones. We are a work in progress.
You think this is not working? We've only been at it for about 4,000 years - half a blink of an eye, in God's time scale. (For Christians, make that 2,000 years.)
Want an example that it is working? None of the major (and I believe none of the minor) religions on earth today practice human sacrifice. Where did we get the idea that was wrong? From the Jews, who were told by God they were to serve as an example of a holy people to the rest of the world.

Thanking #4 also; your comment is definitely a keeper!
Genesis 12:1-3 is an important passage as well; vs. 3 would be especially enlightening to those currently celebrating/supporting Hamas if they'd read it and take it to heart. Unfortunately the ones who need to know this verse are too arrogant to take the time to read it. I'm sure though that there will come a time when they'll be very, very sorry they didn't.
