An Oregon school has refused to comment on whether a school bully who was seen pulverizing a smaller girl to the floor of a middle school hallway is transgender.
The incident happened at Hazelbrook Middle School in Tualatin last week, with school spokesperson Traci Rose telling The Oregonian that federal law barred them from discussing a student's gender identity.

Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters announced Tuesday that he is opening an investigation into Western Heights Public Schools after it hired a drag queen, who had previously been charged with possession of child pornography, as a principal for one of its elementary schools.
Dr. Shane Brent Murnan was hired by John Glenn Elementary School ahead of the fall 2023 semester to be its principal but the decision was quickly met with backlash after parents discovered that he openly performs as a drag queen and had been arrested on child pornography charges in 2001, which were later dismissed in 2002.

Cornell University trustees approved a request from faculty to change the “Department of English” to the “Department of Literatures in English” in the interest of fighting racism.

Five people, including two children, were killed and five others seriously injured after a truck carrying anhydrous ammonia overturned during a multi-vehicle accident in central Illinois, officials confirmed Saturday.
A semi-truck carrying the chemical was found overturned on US Highway 40 in Teutopolis around 9:30 p.m. Friday, causing dangerous air conditions and mandatory evacuations for roughly 500 residents.
Three semi-trucks were involved in the accident and one vehicle caught fire. The tanker carrying the ammonia began leaking after it rolled into a ditch.
Three adults and two children died after the gas leak.

Rolls-Royce, the British manufacturer of very large and very expensive cars and SUVs powered by 12-cylinder engines, announced Wednesday that it will stop selling gasoline powered vehicles by 2030. From then on, Rolls-Royce will be all electric.
The automaker also announced the name of the first electric Rolls-Royce, the Spectre, which will go on sale in about two years.
Ron DeSantis, who was in California to speak to the state's GOP, appeared with Bill Maher on Friday evening, and it went well.
Pressed on everything from COVID-19 to abortion, the Florida governor had the liberal audience cheering at times as he delivered conservative answers. It only took a few seconds for DeSantis to get his first round of applause, touting that he made vaccine mandates illegal in Florida. Given Maher's skepticism about left-wing COVID hysteria, that was a smart strategic play to soften the room before getting into the tougher questions.

Now it’s starting to make sense. Scott Hall, the bail bondsman from Coffee County, Georgia, pleaded guilty today in Fulton County in the Trump Georgia election case.
Scott Hall will now testify against the rest of the defendants in the case. It took Hall a little over a month to plead guilty to the charges. He will serve no time in prison in exchange for his testimony against the other 18 co-defendants.

Trump suggested possible legal action saying she believes this is illegal, and “I’m sure this is not the end of it for them.”

Federal prosecutors have told a federal judge that if Donald Trump had bought a gun earlier this week during a campaign stop, he would be violating his release conditions as a criminal defendant and breaking the law, according to a Friday court filing.
A campaign spokesman for Trump had posted on social media that Trump bought a Glock in South Carolina on Monday, then removed the post and clarified to CNN the former president hadn’t purchased the firearm.

Biden administration on Friday unveiled the most restrictive offshore oil and gas five-year leasing program in history.
The Department of the Interior (DOI) announced the plan, which allows for three offshore oil and gas lease sales through 2029, with sales in 2025, 2027 and 2029. That schedule represents the lowest number of sales that the administration could have pursued while maintaining its ability to push offshore wind development under provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), and it is the “smallest number of oil and gas lease sales in history,” according to Interior Secretary Deb Haaland.
X owner Elon Musk announced he was doing away with part of his platform’s infamous “election integrity” team—sort of. According to The Information on Sept. 27, the social media platform reportedly ousted five anti-free speech activists from its contentious election integrity team. Musk took to Twitter to react to the reports, confirming that the individuals were “gone.” Among those affected by the purge was notorious disinformation chief Aaron Rodericks who came under fire last month in mid-August for undermining Musk’s promise to protect free speech.
