A full federal appeals court declined to take up Democrat groups’ challenge of Florida’s 2021 election integrity law on Thursday, marking a major win for Gov. Ron DeSantis and the GOP-controlled state legislature.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Thursday’s decision by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals “let stand an April ruling by a three-judge panel of the [court] that sided with the state on major issues in the case.” The 11th Circuit’s April decision effectively overturned a prior ruling issued by U.S. District Judge Mark Walker — an Obama appointee — who baselessly claimed the law in question discriminated against black voters.

If you happen to live in Baltimore and are looking for something else to be incensed about apart from the rampant crime and government corruption, look no further than the public schools. The kids are back in class for the semester, or at least some of them are, and a public activist group has conducted a review of the latest round of state standardized testing. Across the city, 13 schools (that’s 40% of the schools) failed to produce a single student who tested as “proficient” in math. And most of the others didn’t produce many. This has resulted in some understandable outrage,

Hola, Governor Hochul and Mayor Adams! More migrant buses from Texas are en route to New York, despite Governor Hochul’s demand that any illegal aliens thinking of coming to New York City go someplace else. It couldn’t happen to a better smug “all are welcome here” Democrat.
When the Democrat leaders in big cities made a big deal of saying they would welcome illegal aliens with open arms, I don’t recall hearing any of them put a number on their offer to accept everyone, regardless of immigration status. It looks like Hochul and NYC Mayor Eric Adams meant that all illegal aliens are welcome

Republican lawmakers recently predicted their investigation into the Biden family could prove the Biden business raked in more than $50 million, about $30 million more than bank records show thus far.
“Based on the evidence I’ve seen so far, I think the number is going to be north of $50 million that we’re talking about here,” Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) said on Fox News.
Throughout the investigation, the House Oversight Committee unveiled several tranches of Biden business bank records. Those showed the Biden business received at least $20 million from business schemes in Romania, China, Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. In total, nine Biden family members received payments

IRS agent Darrell Waldon echoed IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley’s testimony that prosecutors in Washington, DC, and California previously blocked now-special counsel David Weiss from charging Hunter Biden in those jurisdictions.
“Mr. Weiss went to the U.S. Attorney’s Office — I can’t recall the dates — and they did not agree to prosecute the case in D.C.,” Waldon told the House Ways and Means Committee during a transcribed interview in September, the Washington Examiner reported.
“I’m aware that it was presented to the District of Columbia and, at some point, the Central District of California, I believe,” he added.
Waldon’s transcribed interview comes after he previously confirmed Shapley’s claims in April of political interference.

For a second straight day in the French port city of Marseille, Francis took aim at European countries that have used “alarmist propaganda” to justify closing their doors to migrants and tried to shame them into responding with charity instead.

I’ll never forgot Donald Trump’s entry into the 2016 Republican presidential primary. At long last, we were nearing the end of two painful terms under the charlatan Barack Obama – who’d been our most radical president despite his fraudulent veneer of moderation – and the likely Democrat nominee, Hillary Clinton, was campaigning to push our country even further left. She had to be defeated. I thought Republicans should nominate a thoughtful, articulate conservative – perhaps Carly Fiorina (remember her?) . . . or Marco Rubio . . . or Ted Cruz (my own sequential favorites).

Censorship existed even before literature, say the Russians. And, we may add, censorship being older, literature has to be craftier. Hence, the new and remarkably viable underground press in the Soviet Union called samizdat.

The landmark Washington National Cathedral unveiled new stained-glass windows Saturday with a theme of racial justice, filling the space that had once held four windows honoring Confederate Gens. Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson.
The new windows depict a march for justice by African Americans, descendants of the very people who would have remained in slavery after the Civil War if the side for which the officers fought had prevailed.
The cathedral had removed the old windows after Confederate symbols featured prominently in recent racist violence.

Mexico City—From a White House podium in May, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas outlined new legal pathways to the United States for Venezuelans and others, along with a “very clear” message for those who come illegally.
“Our borders are not open. People who cross our border unlawfully and without a legal basis to remain will be promptly processed and removed,” he said.
On Wednesday, Mayorkas announced temporary legal status for an estimated 472,000 Venezuelans who had arrived in the country as of July 31 — including some who ignored his stern warnings and came illegally. Circumstances change, but the Biden administration’s sharp expansion of Temporary Protected Status may complicate its messaging.

Americans are gearing up for another election next year — and they'll likely be choosing between two of the oldest presidents ever again.
Age has become a central issue this election cycle following a spate of high-profile 'senior moments' including two Mitch McConnell freeze episodes.
Aside from Joe Biden, 80, and Donald Trump, 77, US politicians on Capitol Hill are older than ever, and there are growing calls for term limits in the House and Senate. Texas Senator Ted Cruz and Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley have been outspoken about age in recent months, claiming that politicians are increasingly too old to represent their constituents.

Sometime during the summer of 2023, I posted a review of Elliot Page’s memoir Pageboy on Amazon. I take words seriously, even the words that constitute Amazon reviews. Language can convey truth; language can empower lies. The difference between truth and lies is the difference between life and death. In my faith, Satan is the father of lies. God is the logos, the Word; God is truth and the truth sets us free. (Snip)
Elliot Page’s Pageboy is a poorly written book. I said this because bad writing matters. “Writing clearly is thinking clearly.” Writing poorly underwrites destructive behavior. Identifying bad writing is a worthwhile use of time.

The border patrol has acknowledged that there are three confirmed cases of tuberculosis amongst illegal aliens who crossed into America through the Biden administration’s encouragement and connivance. Deviating from his past legislative support of transgender youth in California, Democratic governor Gavin Newsom vetoed a bill that would have required parents to demonstrate affirmation of their child’s gender identity in custody court battles.

In almost the same language he used in 2017 after a mistrial on federal corruption charges, he cast the indictment Friday in political terms and vowed to continue his work in the Senate.

NEW YORK — Please watch out for the robots as you’re exiting the train.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams doubled down on his pledge to bring more technology to the nation’s largest police department Friday when he unveiled an autonomous robot that will patrol one of the city’s busiest subway stations. The device, known as K5 and produced by robotics company Knightscope, stood motionless alongside Adams at a Friday press conference, its shell emblazoned with NYPD colors and its unblinking camera lens pointed at reporters and commuters in the bustling transit hub beneath Times Square.

Jack Smith added Alex Whiting, a ‘war crimes prosecutor’ to his special counsel team of nearly two dozen rabid prosecutors gunning for Trump.
Whiting is a radical left-wing Trump hater who previously praised Mueller’s inquisition against the former president.
Former special counsel Robert Mueller’s ‘Trump-Russia collusion’ investigation ended in a whimper and completely crumbled.
“Whiting has been a frequent commentator on the previous special counsel to investigate Trump: Robert Mueller, who investigated links between Russia and Trump’s 2016 campaign. Whiting wrote numerous articles and gave interviews assessing the strength of Mueller’s case against Trump,

Former Trump White House attorney Stefan Passantino filed a defamation lawsuit against MSNBC’s Andrew Weissman, who served as lead prosecutor for former special counsel Robert Mueller, over Weissman’s claims that Passantino coached discredited January 6 Committee witness Cassidy Hutchinson to lie on the stand.
“Hutchinson’s third-hand testimony that Trump grabbed the wheel of his presidential limousine in an effort to force it to drive to the Capitol was rejected by the people she claimed had told her about it,” Breitbart News reported.
Passantino represented Hutchinson at the time of her testimony before the committee.

Dave Portnoy has been back in the headlines, and it's for one of the stupidest reasons imaginable. Apparently, holding a pizza festival in New York is a huge scandal. That led The Washington Post to put two reporters on a proposed hit piece.
The goal was to pressure pizza shops that were participating to back out by accusing them of supporting sexual misconduct. The fun began when Portnoy caught wind of the coming smear job, though. He called one of the reporters and confronted her, catching her in a lie.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) launched a savage attack on a federal judge on social media Friday evening, calling U.S. Judge Roger T. Benitez “an extremist, right-wing zealot with no regard to [sic] human life.”
Newsom’s post was a reaction to Judge Benitez’s ruling Friday that California’s limit on high-capacity magazines violates the Second Amendment — the second time Benitez has ruled against the ban since a partial stay in 2019.
Benitez, who was born in Cuba, serves in the Southern District of California and was nominated by George W. Bush.
The Los Angeles Times reported:
A federal judge for the second time overturned California’s ban on large-capacity ammunition magazines

While announcing the launch of the executive Office of Gun Violence Prevention, President Joe Biden pledged to use the office to “centralize, accelerate, and intensify” his administration’s gun control push.
Biden noted that he has chosen Vice President Kamala Harris to oversee the office.
A report by the Washington Post makes clear coordination in the office is expected between the “White House, the Community Justice Action Fund and Everytown for Gun Safety.”
After Biden announced the launch of the new office on Friday, he then called for an “assault weapons” ban, a “high capacity” magazine ban, and universal background checks. He also called for Congress to take action for more gun restrictions

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) vowed on Thursday to subpoena records linked to President Joe Biden’s corporation, “CelticCapri Corp,” which received nearly $10 million in 2017 without specifying revenue line items.
Questions remain about how then-Vice President Joe Biden’s corporation received the $10 million in 2017, a year that corresponds with elaborate webs of wire transactions and Joe Biden’s departure from the White House. The year 2017 also encompasses the timeframe an FBI informant alleged Burisma Holdings bribed Joe Biden with $5 million.

New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez denied all allegations against him Friday after being indicted on bribery offenses in the Southern District of New York, blaming racism for being charged. (snip) Per the indictment, “Over $480,000 in cash — much of it stuffed into envelopes and hidden in clothing, closets, and a safe — was discovered in the home.” (snip) “Those behind this campaign simply cannot accept that a first-generation Latino American from humble beginnings could rise to be a U.S. Senator and serve with honor and distinction. Even worse, they see me as an obstacle in the way of their broader political goals," he continued.
