Nearly 50 years ago, the Concorde's first, non-stop transatlantic flight was the stuff of science fiction.
The sleek, supersonic, 203-foot tailless bird with a downturned nose scorched across the ocean and cast a shock wave over the water implying the promise of a new age of modern travel.
It seemed like a beginning.
It turned out to be an end.
On September 26, 1973, the Concorde's sprint from Washington D.C. to Paris took three and-a-half hours.
Today's Boeings cover that distance in more than twice that time.
In 1969, four years earlier, American men landed on the Moon in another achievement we can't seem to match these days.

You don’t want any slip-ups when you are moving at 17,000mph and the astronauts aboard Elon Musk’s SpaceX Dragon were composure itself as they docked with the International Space Station (ISS).
Thirty hours after blast-off from Florida’s Kennedy Space Center the multi-national crew caught up with its target 261 miles above Queensland, Australia.
On board are a Dane, an American, a Russian and a Japanese astronaut on a six-month mission to study space’s effects on microbial life and on human sleep patterns. They join another seven astronauts already on board including America’s Woody Hoburg

General Motors is closing its IT Innovation Center in Chandler, Arizona, cutting 940 jobs.
The closing came as a major shock, ChandlerNews.com reported.
This location will close on Oct. 31, according to KTVK-TV. “Today’s announcement that GM plans to close its Arizona IT Innovation Center came as a complete surprise,” economic development director Micah Miranda said.
“We’ve recently been working with their local team about higher education partnerships, mentoring, and a promotional video highlighting Chandler’s Price Corridor. With this unfortunate news, we plan to work closely with our workforce development partners to assist with employment opportunities for those impacted,” Miranda said.

If Vivek Ramaswamy were to become president, he wants to bring on Twitter, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and former President Donald Trump to advise him.
Asked Sunday why he would be more successful than Trump, the 2024 hopeful said he would 'build on the foundation' the ex-Prsident laid and seek his mentorship so he doesn't waste time learning the same lessons.
At a town hall in Iowa on Friday – just two days after the first Republican debate – the political outsider was asked who he would seek guidance from if elected. He said Musk would be one of those individuals.

President Joe Biden missed the Las Vegas Aces' celebratory trip to the White House after choosing to extend his vacation.
The WNBA champions headed to Washington on Friday, where they were instead met by Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.
That is despite a previous announcement that both President Biden and the First Lady, Jill Biden, would be on hand to greet the record-breaking Aces. They defeated the Connecticut Sun in four games to win the WNBA Finals last year - it was the Aces' first title and also the first time a team from Las Vegas had claimed a major league professional sports title.

Former Vice President Mike Pence, a candidate for the GOP nomination, said Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that that he was “confident” former President Donald Trump would not be the 2024 GOP nomination.
Pence said, “Well, look, I signed a pledge to be on that stage to say I would support the Republican nominee. I remain confident, more confident after Wednesday night, that Republican nominee will not be the former president.” He continued, “We’re going to give the American people the standard bearer for the GOP that’s going to be able to lead us to victory against Joe Biden and the radical left. Now that country music star Oliver Anthony has hit millions of playlists across America, Edwin Snowden said he probably made a different type of list as well.
Snowden is the polarizing National Security Administration whistleblower who revealed the United States was keeping files on its own citizens through a vast network of snooping. Snowden is currently living in Russia, as he is wanted by the U.S., but connected to America enough to know about Anthony’s rise to fame.
“After hitting topping the iTunes list and tweeting like this, the FBI will be making space for him another kind of list, too,” Snowden tweeted.

Donald Trump's legal spokeswoman Alina Habba said the ex-President doesn't need any 'prep' for the four different criminal cases against him because he did 'nothing wrong.'
It comes as Trump's legal calendar runs into the primary election cycle while he remains by far the highest polling and most likely candidate to win the nomination to take on President Joe Biden in 2024.
Habba dismissed the trials as 'theatrics' and told Fox News Sunday host Shannon Bream that the trial dates will be moved because it's 'unrealistic' to expect Trump to be at two different trials in two different states in a short period of time.

The vice president’s attempt to score points on “Women’s Equality Day” was doused by a reality check from Riley Gaines: “This is satire, right?”
Since the onset of their administration, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have stood as champions of leftist causes to erode women’s spaces, expose children to sexual content, and far too many cause irreversible harm to further transgenderism.
Saturday, as Harris gaslighted with snippets from an array of previously delivered word salads, former NCAA swimmer and Independent Women’s Forum advisor Gaines spoke to what the policies Democrats have embraced have actually been doing to women’s rights.

There are still no answers from the FBI on why they found it necessary to raid the home of a disabled US veteran and shoot him dead on the morning of August 16th.
Theodore Deschler was shot and killed when FBI agents raided his home near Henderson, Tennessee.
Now Deschler’s family are looking for answers. There is still no news from the government on why they had to break out the windows, toss smoke bombs into the home, and then shoot Deschler who was unarmed at the time.
The story first broke on local WBBJ on August 16th.

“New odious slime is bubbling up every day.”
— “The Worst President in History,” Matt Margolis & Mark Noonan...
Is Joe Biden the worst, the most depraved, blundering, and corrupt president in American history, as many have now come to believe? Victor Davis Hanson refers to the Biden clan as “likely the most corrupt presidential family in American history.” Vito Corleone was a Boy Scout compared to Joe Biden. Indeed, Biden is so unprincipled and degenerate a specimen of humanity as to seem almost fictional, a Manchurian president intent on humiliating, perverting, and ultimately bringing down the country he is sworn to honor and represent.

Truthful and comprehensive journalism is at the heart of whether we will continue to devolve, or whether we regain our national footing. By their nature, journalists have a platform with the public, and a tremendous ability to influence it; people believing in and then acting on erroneous information yields destructive consequences. In this way, journalists as a whole advertently support the interests of the Democrat Destroyers; think of the “every man for himself” hysteria stories or the suppression of the efficacy of certain medicinal drugs when COVID first appeared.
Mr. Dooley, the alter ego of humorist Finley Peter Dunne, famously uttered this about the function of journalism:
